Neil has this great way of singing and telling a story. Do keep getting him to perform like this. You guys really have the potential to write a legendary musical.
I'm just saying they're very peculiar, and they both understand their own idea of love and how they live it, so just by seeing how synched and respectful of each other they are, they are an example on how love should be. Which doesn't mean we all should live love like they do.
I just said to myself "Neil's singing is as if angels are dying and this is their final song." Good god I didn't think I could love that man any more than I already do but then I find this and I have found a whole new level of love for him.
I love watching brilliance. So thankful for Neil sharing that he & Amanda were dating long ago, never knew who Amanda Palmer was. I have learned much from them with a better understanding of empathy at the top of the list.
Amanda is one of the least pretentious, most real and engaged performers I have ever seen live. You mistake her "performance" for pretense. This is art at it's best.
An odd couple, to be sure. But they look, and sound just right. It's great, and just a tad creepy. It made me think [after a few listens] as if the sinister couple from the painting 'American Gothic' had decided to record a song together. Smart, and interesting. ; )
wish they had more than 1 thumb up! So a million stars! Both of them are 2 of my most fav people. they make this world a much better place, bearable...
Love it! I remember listening to this song back in the day.....driving in the car...with my MaMa! Kenny Rogers 'Lucille' too. Did my head in. Dont mention 'Rubber Room' by Porter Wagoner...
I love her expressionless expression, while strumming, with that crown on her head. Oh my gosh, they do terrific performance. My first time ever seeing them.
My entire body just become covered in goosebumps when Neil began singing. HOLY SHIT. I'm more used to reading his work, but this was more than a pleasant surprise for me. :]
I was literally in tears by the end of this... I read a lot dark thrillers that have "pyscho" characters this song was as great as the novels... Loved it...
What are the Ukulele chords?!?! Gaaaahhh!! I've been searching and searching (as I am a new ukulele owner and a MAJOR Neil+Amanda fan!) but nowhere seems to have the chords laid out to learn from! I'm desperate to learn this song. Could someone please please help me? I'm having trouble figuring out what she's playing.... :/
So I didn’t know until about a week ago that Neil Gaiman (the genius behind Good Omens which is my favourite novel) and Amanda Palmer (the genius behind both Evelyn Evelyn and Who Killed Amanda Palmer, both of those are my favourite albums) were married. And when I found put that they were married I was like 🤯. And now they’re my otp.
❤It just blows my mind that this video came out 9 years ago and has a quarter of a million views and only 5,000 likes Everyone should like this video and make a comment To help the Google algorithm promote this underrated hardly known would love to be known by millions I cant givr this song Enough props it is a sad sick visual emotional and a big surprise but most of all it's beautiful shares the beauty❤
hello cabm, thank you for this record - mr gaiman the writer (did he give time to the sandman) - forget she does ukulele when without brian. is he with ne clam chowder still(?) - visit bow ery again when can. elle - mexicano g-ds soon
I see a few people asking for chords. This is played two half steps up from Elvis Costello's cover. The whole song is 3 chords. C, G and Am. (Costello uses D, A, and Bm.)
his acting and his singing are both perfect and adorable. and I'm dead. Idk, they're as perfect and as badasses as Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter together.
Lyrics Continuted: I'm having crazy dreams again Mama let me tell you 'bout last night. I woke up in Johnny's room Mama standing right there by his bed with my hands around his throat Mama wishing both of us were dead. YTIPDYM? I just killed Johnny's pup. YTIPDYM? You better let them lock me up. And that little girl next door Mama I believe her name was Betty Clark. Oh don't tell me that she's dead Mama I just saw her in the park.
(C)Can Mary fry some fish, mama (Am)I'm as hungry as can be (C)Oh lord, how I wish, mama (Am)You could stop the baby cryin' (G)'Cause my head is killing me(C) And on and on for the verses For the chorus: You think I'm psycho don't you (F)mama (G)I didn't mean to break your (C)cup You think I'm psycho don't you(F) mama (G)You better let 'em lock me up(C) I hope I was able to help a bit! I'm not really sure, I just guessed from her hand gestures and when I play it,it sounds almost identical
Amanda attended a celebration for a woman who wrote a book about her journey -out- of Scientology that was highly critical of the organization. She was there too support her friend, something that a real Scientologist would -never- do in a thousand years. If she even dreamed about doing that, the "Church" would declare her a Suppressive Person and no one in it would ever talk too her again.
chords: play around with D, A and Bm (mostly in that order, Bm isn't always necessary), always end on D, and just listen to what sounds good/watch for when amanda changes chords
i love the way neil is sitting lmao. he looks like a sad puppy
+ricotta He always looks like that, even when he is happy.
He looks genuinely devastated as he sings and it's amazing.
Neil has this great way of singing and telling a story. Do keep getting him to perform like this. You guys really have the potential to write a legendary musical.
Neil actually has a fantastic singing voice! What a talented pair.
Look at Amanda.
She is a goddess in human form.
She sure is!
Such a talent in so many ways
I love how totally in character they both are
character broken at 2:45 on neil's behalf
I think they're anyone's relationship goal...
Yes! I don't believe I've ever seen two people so in love in my life. *holds back tears
nope, strongly nope. I'm happy in real love with a man. unlike them I don't need to have sex with others or date other men.
? I think you posted on the wrong video by mistake
Hahaha that's exactly what I was thinking about while watching the video! New relationship goal set!
I'm just saying they're very peculiar, and they both understand their own idea of love and how they live it, so just by seeing how synched and respectful of each other they are, they are an example on how love should be. Which doesn't mean we all should live love like they do.

Such a fan of these two. Does anyone else think Neil sounds like the late Alan Rickman?
I can hear the similarity....:)
Casey
His facial expression resembles him too a little bit
Yes
Totally yes.
YES!
I love watching brilliance. So thankful for Neil sharing that he & Amanda were dating long ago, never knew who Amanda Palmer was. I have learned much from them with a better understanding of empathy at the top of the list.
Neil and Amanda together is F@#king awsome. I collected every issue of Sandman and I love everything Amanda does.
Great duo, excellent cover & perfect execution.
Neil is such a dreamboat.
I love watching this. Amanda's face is so perfect, and Neil Gaiman becomes the part so wonderfully. Love love love.
Well that was literally the most beautiful thing I've ever heard
Neil's voice is perfect for this. Makes me teary, more often than not.
Amanda is one of the least pretentious, most real and engaged performers I have ever seen live. You mistake her "performance" for pretense. This is art at it's best.
Oof
How delightfully unexpected
The consistency of their facial expressions. And Amanda wears a fucking tiara! They really are adorable, aren't they?
Such style and charisma
These two rock it
a million thumbs up for the way Amanda rolls with her eyes....
Very Good... An original way to play and sing this classic of country music. Great!
I love how bored/uniterested/fed up amanda acts when performing this. My fav part
Best song Mr. Universe never cut.

Just a tad creepy ... Ya think?!!!
two of my favs together.
Neil rocked it
wish they had more than 1 thumb up! So a million stars! Both of them are 2 of my most fav people. they make this world a much better place, bearable...
Today was exactly the right day for me to watch this video. Thank you, universe, for the timing.
Love it! I remember listening to this song back in the day.....driving in the car...with my MaMa! Kenny Rogers 'Lucille' too. Did my head in.
Dont mention 'Rubber Room' by Porter Wagoner...
One of my favourite modern folk duos.
J'adore!
They did this together at Newport Folk Fest and it was amazing!
I was literally in tears by the end of this... I read a lot dark thrillers that have "pyscho" characters this song was as great as the novels... Loved it...
What did I just listen to. This... I don't have words. It's awesome and freaky and brilliant.
This is so perfect.

Not sure if you still need this, but Dominick posted these above :
Verse: C / Am / C / Am G / C
Chorus: F / G / C / /
Zac H Oh! Thank you so much! :D
(I must've not been able to see Dominick's comment. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!)
I love Amanda's scary makeup and flat affect. It fits the scene perfectly.

Perfect couple, perfect demented performance. I love this.
This just made me happy 😍

Thank you! I think you skip the second Am part of the second and third verse though. That kind of confused me first
Replying to an eight year old comment because this guy really did the Lord’s work.
