Hi I came across your channel really good information I was wondering how do you go about asking someone for a recommendation that not in the sorority you want to join?
It helps to know someone personally or at least through someone else. At the point of needed a recommendation letter, it's better to just be direct. " Hey, I'm about to start an application for membership into a sorority. They require I have some recommendation letters and I would really appreciate it if you could write me one. It's due on ____ and should be addressed to ____. I know you're usually pretty busy but it would really help me out a lot and would mean a lot to me. Is this something that you would be interested in doing?" Note: you should always allow enough time for them to write a letter for you without having to rush. You want this letter to be a glowing review because their words have the ability to hurt or help you. Give at least 5 days advanced notice to show that you value their time and effort in helping you achieve your goal. Good luck ! 🫶🏾
I’m just kind of nervous for asking someone that not in the sorority I want to be in. Scared of rejection and two what if they despise me after that. You know. I see in your video you ask a delta for your recommendation what was your thought process of doing that? How did you go about doing that? Was is the same way as told me above ?
@Tetecutie22 these are very good questions ! So it should be addressed to the Ladies or Women of XYX Sorority Incorporated (spell the whole sorority name out though, don't use letters). Also the Delta that wrote my letter was my ex boyfriends mom who was also like a mentor to me. She was in education and so I sought advice from her often regarding college and career goals. We built both a professional and personal relationship over about 4 years at the time. So the hardest part of asking her, was letting her know I had decided to choose a sorority that was different from hers lol but that was all in my head. She was extremely supportive and excited to write my letter. She bought me a bunch of propate gifts and she still buys me sorority gifts and wishes me happy Founders Day every year lol with a little light shade from time to time.
+alex tabb oh I'm just realising you commented under the video I referenced. But this is as far as I can explain the interest letters. But if you Google examples they have really great ones. 💋
Your videos are helping me so much to prepare! I do have one question... could you ask someone from your prospective sorority (like graduate level) to write you a letter of recommendation? Say that person was a good family friend and someone you trusted and knew quite well.
Thank you for this video! I'm scared that I missed the informational for the organization I want to join because last year they had the informational this week but I've been looking at social media so I'm not sure if I missed it or not 😭
+Tay Tay Thanks for watching ! Anything could have happened. They could have decided to wait to have a line. Just make sure you keep looking and growing while you wait 💋
Melanated KisseZ I'm at a PWI with a very small black population so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Also how many informationals have you participated in? Will/have you be apart of one this year or is there like a system of who gets to be apart of it?
Melanated KisseZ I'm at a PWI with a very small black population so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Also how many informationals have you participated in? Will/have you be apart of one this year or is there like a system of who gets to be apart of it?
+Tay Tay the could have had a large intake and not enough people that graduated. Also could be a regional or state hold on memberships. Could just be getting their house in order before bringing new people in. The schedule may not be flexible enough etc. A number of reasons could be a factor. Just try to be patient. It'll all work itself out 😉
You would have to try to prepare ahead for the possibility. Find a member and volunteer with them, ask a local church member, coworker, or family friend that knows you well enough to vouch for you.
Also what do you mean by a sealed recommendation letter? And what if you don't talk to any of the people in the sorority how would you go about trying to get a recommendation letter if that was required?
+Tryanna James Sealed just means the person writing it encloses it in an evelope and it is sealed shut and only opened by the sorority. And if the org you're interested In requires a letter from a member then you must network and meet members beforehand. For example I interned for a member. You can volunteer, work for or with, assist, attend church with, etc. Just needs to be someone who is active and financial that can be a character witness and vouch for you 💋
+Tryanna James Its when interested girls attend a meeting much like an informational to gather info, learn requirements, meet members, receive interest apps/packets and other materials 💋
So appreciative of your videos bella, one question: I have been browsing templates and is it ok to submit my interest letter and resume with a feminine but still professional template? Meaning a little floral or scroll designs to make it stand out? Or will they only accept generic a black and white interest letter and resume? Thanks so much!
Hey, thank you so much for watching and supporting. I think simple and clean is best. You want to go for a more professional design so flowers and bright colors may not be the best. The content of your application is what's important and really all they want to see. Hope this helps 💋
I’m currently a senior in high school and I have enough dual credit from the university I will be attending next year to be considered a sophomore. Say their is a line in the fall do you think that I could still apply since i have the credits they are just dual credits from high school. I asked two alphas that I know personally and they said they weren’t sure so I was just wondering if you had some insight? Also the same two keep telling me that I should apply next year whenever the line is even as a freshman do you think it’s a good idea or would it be better to wait?
It depends on school policy. For example the credits have to be from the university to meet requirement and we can only pledge as sophomore and beyond but other schools pledge freshmen. You would have to look at the school requirement. And if you don't qualify, I would not apply until you do 💋
will not having a recommendation letter from a member of the org hinder my chances? everyone i was able to get letters from wrote amazing things but none of them are members of organization
I've watched a lot of videos about D9 and a lot of you say "having a leadership role"....Is it required that interests have a leadership role in another organization?....Will a person interested in joining be automatically disqualified Just because they're not in an executive position in another organization?
Great Question ! No it doesn't disqualify you. It just makes you a better or more qualified candidate. It shows that you can help run the business aspect of the org and step up as a leader. It also helps with recruitment if the big influencers on campus are associated with certain orgs. It's like when you apply for a job and you have upper level or managerial experience over someone who it's their first job. Who are you more inclined to pick? 💋
ok thanks. And do they look at your application as a whole or is it understood that some aspects of it will be the deciding factor. like the top 20 girls with the highest gpa will automatically get in or something like that?
ok thanks. And do they look at your application as a whole or is it understood that some aspects of it will be the deciding factor. like the top 20 girls with the highest gpa will automatically get in or something like that?
How many organizations do you think is a good amount to be in before joining a NPHC...I know a girl that was in 5 different groups on campus and dropped all of them once she became Greek.
Wow well that's bad form. She made a commitment and then dropped it when she got what she want. And although it's extremely flaky it's not against the rules but people like that don't make good Sorors. To answer your question, you can join as many orgs as you can completely and fully commit to 💋
Melanated KisseZ I'm a member of 2 and only on the exec board of 1....I am interested in joining a D9 org but it seems like they want you to belong to EVERY organizations the campus offers and be in a leadership role in every organization you're apart of and to me that's just unrealistic. There's no way a person is giving themselves and full invested in an organization when they're members of 5 groups...That's spreading yourself way to thin.
When you trace every sorority and fraternity it traces back to a pagan god. This is not of Bible and never will be. Thank Christ HE caught me just in time. Women crawling across a parking lot, women and men laying down in a grave and drinking from potty seats to prove their flesh deserves 3 letters- No thank you.....but you have to honor Christ and yourself to see this....
Lmao idk WHAT you are talking about. But I'm glad you stuck to what you believe if you feel that strongly about it. To each his own. Lol but kindly refrain from commenting on my page about something you literally know nothing about. Because you are loud and WRONG. God bless 💙
Very informative

Thank you so much. Really helpful
What if I don’t know anyone from the sorority I’m interested in to get a recommendation letter: am I get it from former supervisors?
I love your information
Thank you so much, this is very beneficial for me right now. I am having trouble with finding a format to use for my interest letter. Any advice?
Glad you found it helpful ! For me, I just googled "sorority interest letter" in images and went from there
Thank you so much for posting this video! It helped me out a lot!
+We Meet thanks for watching! I'm glad you found the info helpful 💋
Awesome, informative video Soror!
+Tomeika Rouse Thanks SandZ! 💙

Yes
Your a gem !
Aww thank you! 💋
Could you make a video about how to write a sorority interest letter?
+alex tabb I've made a video about it already. Check under my Greek life playlist💋
+alex tabb oh I'm just realising you commented under the video I referenced. But this is as far as I can explain the interest letters. But if you Google examples they have really great ones. 💋
Thank you for the great information. I appreciate it. It was very helpful.
+Johanna Auten No problem ! Thanks for watching 💋

+Mikaila Houston Hey love ! Thanks for watching ! More to come 💋
Your videos are helping me so much to prepare! I do have one question... could you ask someone from your prospective sorority (like graduate level) to write you a letter of recommendation? Say that person was a good family friend and someone you trusted and knew quite well.
+Mya Peoples yes, you absolutely can ! And thanks for watching and supporting 💋
Every organization I'd different!
Thank you for this video! I'm scared that I missed the informational for the organization I want to join because last year they had the informational this week but I've been looking at social media so I'm not sure if I missed it or not 😭

Melanated KisseZ no problem! What would be an example of why an organization would wait to have one?
Melanated KisseZ I'm at a PWI with a very small black population so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Also how many informationals have you participated in? Will/have you be apart of one this year or is there like a system of who gets to be apart of it?

If asked for a recommendation letter from a member but I don't know a member of the organization to write it what would you suggest I do?
You would have to try to prepare ahead for the possibility. Find a member and volunteer with them, ask a local church member, coworker, or family friend that knows you well enough to vouch for you.
DST. It had to be a *FINANCIALLY ACTIVE* member! Beware... not everyone wearing letters is financially active!
That's a great point that I forgot to mention ! Thank you! 💋
Great video! Very helpful
+Tiana L awesome! Thanks for watching? 💋
Thanks for the informative video!
+Kendra Love No problem ! Thanks for watching 💋
When does rush usually happen? Does that happen after the informational meeting?
Also what do you mean by a sealed recommendation letter? And what if you don't talk to any of the people in the sorority how would you go about trying to get a recommendation letter if that was required?
+Tryanna James Rush, informational, and interest meeting are all synonymous. Just depends on the campus and org. 💋
What is rush exactly?
+Tryanna James Sealed just means the person writing it encloses it in an evelope and it is sealed shut and only opened by the sorority. @@SemyiaJenai Makes perfect sense, thanks so much bella!
Great job soror! The interest letter information is sooo crucial!
+xoxoTL Thanks Soror ! Appreciate the feedback 💙💋
Can a family member who is in the same sorority give you a recommendation letter?
I believe if they aren't immediate. However, that would be a great question for the informational because I'm sure it varies. 👍
Thank you so much!!!😘
Should I even go if I only have an unofficial transcript?
yes, they usually give you time to order an official one. just order one now and it should be here a couple days after the interest meeting

how long do they usually give you to have your stuff ready?
+tasha knight depends but on average, between 2 and 7 days
+tasha knight No they review all apps before a decision in its entirety 💋
ok great! thank you so much!
Can the letter be from a family member? Like an aunt?
Depends on the org but usually not

How about preparing for an interview. Is there a way to do that? Do you have a video for that already? 💕
+Dominique Perry I can make one love. That's a great idea 💋
