As an Old School Alpha, you are speaking the truth. You got to do the research of the Org you are interested in. You have to establish relationships with the members of the org u like to pursue. Gotta put in the work not only on a undergrad Chapter level but on alumni chapter level. I agree with the t-shirt wearers. We have enough of those already. As a Sigma who has interviewed prospective members, Que speaks the truth. If you have nothing significant to offer, you're wasting their time and yours. For my chapter, you got to put in WORK.
A Greek organization involves a lot of people. Despite the image they try to present, they do not all like each other. If you are joining expecting that becoming a member means you now have a lot of new family members, be aware that not all of new family members like each other, and not all of them are going to like you. It's like any other social setting: develop friendships with those who are worth your time, and avoid those who are just trifling and petty. If they can't be respectful towards you and they can't honor the vows they took at their own intake ceremony about brotherhood/sisterhood just because you didn't let them beat on you, then THEY are the ones with a problem because THEY are choosing to dishonor their own vows. There are plenty of other people in that organization with whom you can fellowship; the trifling ones are a waste of your time.

Hey.. Your video is really nice and was hoping I could get a genuine opinion on this - I am an international graduate student who is completely new to Greek Life. I attended the callouts today and all the Frat boys were pitching their clubs to me, but the Alpha one stood out the most for me. Now my program is for 10 months and although GPA wouldn't be a problem, since my program is so short + I think I was the only graduate student who went to the callouts, is it worth joining Greek Life? Thanks!
Research their ritual book and learn what you have to bow down to on initiation night. There is nothing holy and acceptable unto The Lord Jesus concerning these groups. Look up why I left Greek life. The truth is told in those videos. There organizations are withccraft based.
Great Video whats your advice for joining Grad Chapters. I'm a older brother I graduated college in the Mid 90's but I worked full time and went to school part time as much as I could, there was no time for Greek life, More than 25 years later after a law enforcement career Im still interested. what advice could you lend.
Yo. Great video. Curious with the "how you could help the fraturnity" what do they usually want you to aim for? Like im confused about how wanting to be a teacher helps them? Additionally, as a Public Health and nursing major, as well as firefighter emt, what's the best angle for me to use to show the value i give coming from these backgrounds?
You could say something like "I bring education to the table in the way I get to be an inspiration, motivation, and safe space/mentor for the next generation." And if they ask how you can be that inspiration explain your experience, morals, achievements etc that support that claim
And you being a public health nursing major as well as firefighter emt means you are providing your community with life saving service and explain it that way but you'd need something outside of specifically that I'd feel I'm not currently a part of greek life although it interests me but this is what I'd say if we're asked fs!
Hey man i’m a upcoming highschool junior and i’ve always wanted to join a Greek Organization since i was a freshman i’ve been doing research on the specific one i would like to join but i’m also an athlete. Do you think it’s best to try an join a Organization while also trying to attend college for sports ?
I’ve seen a bunch of people do that ! It’s not easy, but it’s capable depending on your work ethic ! You got it though, best of luck to your endeavors and good luck to you !!
Please remember: you attend college for an education, but sports is your vehicle. If you are on a sports scholarship, your second priority is probably that sport. Can you do all three? Yes, you can, but don't forget your ultimate goal. You're going to ride that degree for the rest of your life. Your life in sports may end at graduation. Membership in the organization that allows you in, like your degree, will be life long. Good luck.
And another thing. DO NOT let people haze you. If somebody needs to haze you before they can be your friend, then you do not need them as your friend. Once you have joined, there's nothing they can do to erase the fact that you are, in fact, a member of their group whether they like it or not. People will tell you all kinds of things about what you supposedly have to do in order to join. Much if it will be untrue. They just are hoping to get to do to you what somebody else did to them. By the time you seriously pursue membership, the dean of student affairs at your college will have already spelled out what is and isn't permitted iin the pledge process according to college campus regulations. If that underground hazing stuff some people want to do was truly a legitimate requirement for membership, they wouldn't do it in secret. They'd do it out in the open, in front of the dean. You can easily cross over and become a member and refuse to take part in hazing. And if somebody wants to act a fool and not call you brother/sister because they didn't get to haze you, then look past them, and say, "Next." There are thousands and thousands of people in that organization; you don't need that particular person's friendship. There will be plenty of other people in the organization with whom you can associate, both during undergrad and when you transition to grad chapter membership, should you choose to remain active.
@dontem.8369 not at the cost of potentially losing your life, which has happened in many of the chapters. Or at the cost of your sanity. Many have denounced from their fraternity/sorority because of the PTSD it gave them and realizing just how F’ed up it was to call your abuser(s) “brother” or “sister”.
If you do, don’t join to run a yard, join to join a graduate chapter when your done, because if you don’t, you do all that extra work for just one semester or not even one at all just to wear letters. Sounds like a waste of time. Get active in a graduate chapter
I appreciate the advice. I’m a freshman coming in and the fraternity I want has been permanently banned. Should I transfer to a school that has it or join when I go to grad school
Is it possible to be a freshman and fledge? I know one female that’s pledges as a freshman at Albany, but I’m not sure if she had some strings pulled or not?
Hey, I graduated with Mechanical Engineering. I would suggest that you focus on your academics during your first year, Atlease your first semester. Most BLGO require a GPA of 2.8 or higher. The last thing you want to do is to lose focus establishing your grades and risk not getting accepted because of getting a lower GPA your first semester/year. Once you get rejected, you will have to work 3x or 4x harder to redeem yourself. In general, once you make a bad impression, it will follow you on campus. Note: I was not a BLGO member, but I was in NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) and I could say if you want to be involve in NSBE, it took time and work.
Hey, what if you aren’t selected initially should you try again? I’m thinking of going Greek , only heard that if I don’t get selected I could never join D9 again. Could you please clarify.
I’ve been watching over people talk on this subject and from what I’ve heard YES as long as you don’t try and go for another organization say for example if you didn’t make delta and you try to be an AKA that wouldn’t work.
I think you should always try again! If you go out for a certain sorority and don't get chosen, but you still want to be a member. Keep in mind if you go out for a sorority they will ask on the application/in person if you have ever applied for membership in that or another organization so keep that in mind... So for instance if you go out of SGrho and don't make it, if you decide to then go on to pursue Delta, they're not going to take kindly to that. But if you just go out and don't get selected that doesn't mean you can't try again. Now if you become a member of the D9 that's final. you can't join another D9 org. I hope I explained it well.
I know i'm a little late to the video, but I would like to start out that I am a white ginger looking to join a fraternity. All of my life I have been made fun of and clowned HEAVILY for my hair color and the freckles on my skin by what were supposed to be "my own people." None of that flack however was thrown my way by any minority group. Which is also who I would say now am the most comfortable around. I felt truly accepted as a human being yaknow? After giving a quick explanation I've got to ask, in my current situation would I still be in my own lane to attempt to pledge? I've done my share of research on organizations and I finally made my decision on what organization I want to pursue.
Go for it bro ! I actually made a video about that topic, but I took it down temporarily because of the world right now, but if you meet the brothers tell them straight up how you feel and ask them and get to know them it’s definitely possible ! Love yourself king, you are Gods creation!

My son is the same way. He's always been around da Bruhs so at 16, he's got my NEW road jacket in HIS room. I told him, "You think you wanna be da Bruhs? We'll see!" He knows better than to wear it...even in the house.
Appreciate the honesty. Father damn near lied.
@@equallyyoked1 lol, don't care why you left. Greek life is fun.
How do we find the information about the chapters?
Dope video!
Great Video whats your advice for joining Grad Chapters. I'm a older brother I graduated college in the Mid 90's but I worked full time and went to school part time as much as I could, there was no time for Greek life, More than 25 years later after a law enforcement career Im still interested. what advice could you lend.
Appreciate the support !! Check out my video I made about joining grad chapters if you scroll down a little bit it is still there 💪🏾
I'm former military. A 28 year old Marine. Would age and life experience hinder me from joining a frat?
No
I missed the interest meeting, do I still have an opportunity to join an org?
Wassup bro quick question can you join a greek organization as an online student? Or if u took a semester online can u still join??
Good question. Following.
Good luck.
Do you have any advice for junior transfers?
Be quiet… you have to earn your letters.
The laugh for Iota lol I felt that lol /G\ here
What are your thoughts on people joining senior year?
If you do, don’t join to run a yard, join to join a graduate chapter when your done, because if you don’t, you do all that extra work for just one semester or not even one at all just to wear letters. Sounds like a waste of time. Get active in a graduate chapter
Well said-- from a SGRHO 💙💛🐩
🔥🔥
I appreciate the advice. I’m a freshman coming in and the fraternity I want has been permanently banned. Should I transfer to a school that has it or join when I go to grad school
Look at the video I posted yesterday bro!
@@Goatsuniversity Preciate it. What you said in that video was confirmation.💯
Is it possible to be a freshman and fledge? I know one female that’s pledges as a freshman at Albany, but I’m not sure if she had some strings pulled or not?
Some orgs you can and some you can’t, I think in AKA you can but not the others
Depends on the university. Freshmen can't pledge at Howard, for instance.
I'm a graduate of The Juilliard School and never had the opportunity to join a fraternity, do you have advice on how I could join an Alumni Org?😁
I made a video a couple vids back! Check it out!
what do AKAs and Deltas do as their process??
I’m a senior in hs now going to asu next fall, do u think i can balance Software engineering major & being in greek life?
Hey Justin 😂 I was like I know that guy
@@Goatsuniversity This fall i'm going to definitely try, I know the way the world is going isnt the best but I would like to think that one step closer to unity is a step that needs to happen no happen how big or small it is. I truly owe it to y'all💛
How did your GPA do the term you pledged? Did it go up, down, or stay same?
TWN321 mine went down just a little bit I had a 3.5 and it went down to 3.3 something
TWN321 but my LB got a 4.0
Goats University thx... my impression from the classes I have had with ppl on line is that gpa usually goes down... those dudes vanished for weeks!
Get a high GPA freshman year so that when you pledge, you don't have to worry about your grades dropping cuz they will....
@@tthoma12 ‼️‼️‼️‼️
What if you reached out but didn't get a response back from one of the members? Should you reach out again?
Better to try to do it in person, social media leaves trails
I need a story time of when you were on line and what happened to you when they remembered you wore your dads hat and posted that picture..... 😭
I might hey expelled if I tell that story 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
RQQ!!!🤐🤫
May I contact you to ask some questions and just get to know a fellow African American male?
Can i join without a degree I do have military experience???
How long is the process
Homie I’m interested. I’ve been doing my research. On track to getting my grade to 2.5 by the end of the summer semester. My chapter is suspended for my school at this time. What advice do you have for an undergraduate that’s 30 with a family and owns a busy business?
I say join a graduate chapter when you graduate, especially if the chapter is suspended, with the under 2.5 GPA, a family, and a business it is too much on your plate to focus on Greek life rn, just my opinion, but if you feel you can do it, do that ish!
KEY: DON’T 👏🏾 BREAK 👏🏾 CUT👏🏾! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 #YouLeftThatOWT
uh haaa haaa 😒
Is it possible to be in the national guard and join a fraternity?
Probably not. Being in a frat means alot of time spent with that organization, while you have more important life tasks at hand, such as drill.
How to get community service hours ?
Does financial aid help pay for all the fees and dues?
Refund Checks 😭
