thank you! I'm looking forward to going to Russia after college. so i thought. why not spend time learning it now?! Russian is such a beautiful language
Hardly have i came before such an excellent teacher, focusing on vocabulary, speaking, and specially in pronunciation. Absolutely fantastic, i'd love to know her name! Ps. Thank you
If you guys are wondering, this is a very great course called (Michele Thomas Method - Russian). Similar to Pimsleur but in my opinion this is better than Pimsleur. Both are fantastic but I wanted to pass that along because I heard this and thought it was amazing. No idea what it was from and then I stumbled upon the Michele Thomas method. Best of luck in your language learning!
Ha! After this lesson youll be able to say many things in Polish too as a lot of words are very similar - for example: Where one can buy? - Gdzie można kupić? in Polish and it sounds almost the same in Russian... So everybody stay strong and learn languages because it's a great thing ^_^
Aleksandra Płocińska I am Polish speaker too and we are lucky because we have an advantage because while English and Russian are distantly related we where the same language only a little over 1,000 years ago.
I think this is the best way of learning Russian. It's a true class. Slowly and clearly she gives a very strong suport to the student. I'd like we coiuld have a Learn Russian - Basics - part 2, or more. I am studying Russian and the video was very useful for me. Thans for your help.
This is great! Exactly what I was looking for. I love history, so the interjections about etymology were really interesting to me and helpful in understanding the language. I actually prefer this method of audio only, because when trying to learn with images, I found the visuals to just be distracting. I work with a lot of Russian people and now maybe I'll start to understand what they're saying ;)
Omelette DU fromage! I ended up buying this whole thing from Audible. Server this as feedback that Michel Thomas Method - Russian do work. Took me about a month to develop intonation but now I can say I'm almost fluent in Russian. Always practice your words include more daily if possible. And take your time while speaking to perfection does matter. Once you are engaged in a conversation with a Slavic person they will listen. Not forever though. Worth every penny.
I really wish that this video has part 2 and so on because the way this video recorded is very helpful for beginners like me. I want to be able to Speak Russian comfortably.
This is the best video for learning Russian. I used this video last year but then stopped learning this language and now I want to start learning it again. Pity there is no part 2 ):
Really good lesson! I appreciate the fact that we can hear other people learning, we can learn from mistakes so as not to make them. That is fantastic! (27:44 is where I have to continue later. side note for me)
This is my favorite video about learning russian. it makes me feel like i could really learn it. are there any more? The teaching and repetition of the two students is so helpful and the way she teaches you to ask things right away and the way she builds onto the language in natural conversational but useful way helps me remember a lot more than any other way i've tried to learn languages! I keep coming back to this after learning more and more and it is still superior in every way! So are there any more?
This video has been helpful. The comment section is pretty crazy here. I have heard some political talk about Russia opening up to cultural refugees from the United States. I am hopeful that I will be able to escape America. I thank the author of this video. You have kept me on track learning Russian. You are a wonderful blessing lady.
Always had an interest in the Russian language but hadn't had a strong enough desire to learn some until recently. Russian literature, like Gogol, Dostoevsky, Nabokov, Pasternak, is some of the best out there.
Correction Politics and Economics, comes from Greek language Πολιτική και Οικονομικά. The English language maybe a global language but it lucks depth and flexibility and that is why if you want to speak scientifically with higher level in English you actually have to speak Greek.
Her pronouncation is very good, exactly as moscow radio standart bank is italian word = seat or table, place for exchange money, bankrupt (rus. bankrot )= banka rota = broken table (by angry creditors) italian -> english bank -> russian банк
Actually a lot of those Russian words don't come from English but from Greek bcuz Latino countries have them too. For instance the word politics in Portuguese is política and it comes from the Greek politikos
Thank you for this audio! It is so good!!! I love the explanations you give for the words , history and such. And what they sound like, for example: Car a Shore. This is one of the best teachings so far. Just wanted to say thank you. Also, I just love language. To those who are so critical of America, I say - get out then. Too many people have died to give us the freedoms we have. So if you hate it so much, then get the heck out. That would make this an even better country. Better yet, move to Russia. They might not treat your bad attitude so nice.
Aside from him pronouncing things right then her correcting him to to only return to the correct way, what really irritates me the most is this idea that she firmly believes that Russians are posh. Sure, Be polite, however, Russian culture doesnt ask you to make yourself sound like you're on an NPR program.
Thank you very much, it is very interesting, Introduction about the teacher would have been helpful to establish bond with the teacher. I like the style of teacher, she has good British English accent along with superb Russian accent, and the student woman has good Russian sound when she tries to speak Russian words, but the man student sounds more like he is trying to speak Italian whenever he tries to say Russian words.
Sinister8185 I'm not so good in English, but I'll try to help you. That proverb means - If you won't ask something by yourself no one won't know about it. Надеюсь, я помог.
Dasha law, thank you so much for uploading this video. I was wondering if you could possibly share this amazing teacher's contact info because I really need to learn Russian immediately. Your prompt response will be highly appreciated. Thank you!
I didn't know "politics" was an English word or that "theater" was a French one. I used to think they were Greek. Are there any Greek words in Russian?
She is a fabulous teacher! She has a friendly voice and she makes the whole process not scary!
respect to all the viewers for pursuing such an interesting language!

This lady made me understand! I'm much better in pronunciation now. I wish she were my tutor.
Excellent. Only wish I could see some of the words written out to help with pronunciation. I'm learning Russian on my own just for fun.
Russian is phonetic, it is spelled how it sounds, so Russian alphabet pronunciation is key

This is an awesome video !!! Finally got some interest in learning Russian ....you have put this in the simplest way 👏🏻
Dasha Law is fantastic. I have studied a lot of Russian but still gained much from this.
I really like this a lot, knowing the history of a language helps you understand the structure and makes easy to learn. Thanks

Really good lesson! I appreciate the fact that we can hear other people learning, we can learn from mistakes so as not to make them. That is fantastic!
(27:44 is where I have to continue later. side note for me)
The visuals aren't all that exciting, but I learned a lot!! Thank you.
Are you kidding? The visuals were the best part! Where else can I watch the Lion movie while listening to russian learning track 😂😂😂😂😂
What an excellent teacher! Thank you!!!!!
Great Teacher, if anyone finds out who this teacher is or where to find part 2, PLEASE SHARE. :)

very informative lesson, structured and communicated in a clear and progressive manner.
This was ported from an old tape to learn Russian from the 80's.
It's still good. Recommended to watch in full screen.
She seems like an excellent teacher, and they are fast learners
I've always wanted to speak Russian now I feel like I might be able to thanks for this helpful video best one I've found so far
Why do I love this so much, I dont even speak Russian, but I listen to it while I do homework
Her voice and the quietness. Besides the British accent. I think it takes away our minds to somewhere peaceful and beautiful.
This is the best I've heard so far.
Great lessons! Where do I find more?
Please the link doesn't help...

Always had an interest in the Russian language but hadn't had a strong enough desire to learn some until recently. Russian literature, like Gogol, Dostoevsky, Nabokov, Pasternak, is some of the best out there.
THIS WAZ FUN ! and it helped soooo much
Correction Politics and Economics, comes from Greek language Πολιτική και Οικονομικά. The English language maybe a global language but it lucks depth and flexibility and that is why if you want to speak scientifically with higher level in English you actually have to speak Greek.
Only 15 minutes in and already enjoying this language :)
Her pronouncation is very good, exactly as moscow radio standart
bank is italian word = seat or table, place for exchange money,
bankrupt (rus. bankrot )= banka rota = broken table (by angry creditors)
italian -> english bank -> russian банк
what's her name?

That was incredibly helpful with my phrasing and pronunciation :-) many thanks x
Such an amazingly good lesson, thank you so much. I'd like to find more of these lessons but your part 2 link sends to an empty blank page.
Actually a lot of those Russian words don't come from English but from Greek bcuz Latino countries have them too. For instance the word politics in Portuguese is política and it comes from the Greek politikos

Is there part 2. I enjoyed this lesson.

She seems to dislike the guy even though he's the more talented student
Lol no kidding
Listening to it again, perhaps it's "because" not "even though". Still kind of lame.
Couldn't stop laughing at this once I read it
Because he never said "here" "sdyess" properly.. He always sais "esdis" which pissed everyone in the room

Where can i find more like this lesson?
Great instruction.
I've heard this when I sleep for 3 days straight and every morning I'm like wtf because all I can think is Russian lol
Awesome teacher!
This was helpful, but I would have liked to see the word and mouth movements.
Anyone looking for the extended version of this RUclips michel Thomas. She teaches quite a few different languages
Anyone knows from where she is? I noticed a few words that are not quite used in Russia (west) as she is using them.
I made more progress with you than what I would've made in a week.
spasibo, dayte vada pozhalvysta.
I learnd alot from this, thanks

Sinister8185
I'm not so good in English, but I'll try to help you.
That proverb means - If you won't ask something by yourself no one won't know about it.
Надеюсь, я помог.
This is a very good course! Thank you so much.
