It's getting hard to deny the impact that McFarlane Toys is having on the hobby. Relatively low cost, high-value offerings with decent quality. I don't even collect McFarlane DC stuff (too big for me generally) but I own a few and like what I have. But these Avatar figures and mounts/vehicles... have my eyebrows raised.
These figures are probably the best in terms of articulation it's the first figure from mcfarlane to have a bicep swivel and I love it the head sculps are fantastic on this line also I can't fault these figures at all
The prices on those banshees are a freakin steal!! I happily paid retail and have never regretted it. I thought they were going to be around $150-200 when he announced at SDCC. They are freakin my all time favorite
I'm still amazed- even with the regular figures- that McFarlane can keep the price points so low. It sure keeps the hobby accessible for someone like me. And yes- it doesn't seem that the quality of materials or the sculpts are suffering for it. Glad you are enjoying them! Thanks for watching!
Great to see a kindred spirit reviewing great stuff! The figures behind you are all things I love. Big Mcfarlane Spawn fan, too (not that it's obvious in my comic art).
Great review!.This wave from the first Avatar movie looks pretty cool. I just saw an only figure of the second film (Jake´s riding the sea creature) and looks phenomenal too. Greetings men!!
Great movie! Cool toys and video. BTW, you have the forearms of the AMP Suit in the wrong position, lol. You can rotate them and put them as seen on the back of the box and on the film. Greetings!
lmao sorry your video was recommended to me after I looked up a couple of reviews for the banshees and good sir, I must commend you for you for an *excellent* channel name pick. "Figure it out"? Well done.
Thanks- full puns intended! I certainly don't take myself too seriously. Not sure everyone has made the connection between this hobby and my how often I feel like I don't know what I'm doing yet 😂😂
Only true avatars fan may know. Me too avatar is my favorite. Obsessed with it actually😂 Haters may hate cause they just hate it, simple as that. I also hate some movie while others love it. I just dont understand why people dont understand we all different on our choice..
I liked your intro about Avatar-haters. It's a definite case of 'tall poppy syndrome'. People resent it's immense success. I've heard haters say things like "It has no plot", which is just nonsense. I'm not an 'Avatard', but I am a fan of all of James Cameron's films, and I am excited for the new movie. It will get me back into the cinema for the first time since End Game. BTW, I've never knowingly listened to a Teylor Swiff song, but I hate her because because people are always gushing over her. So I guess I am a bit of a hypocrite.. 😉
Agree- I feel like if it was another movie we wouldn't see this reaction. And you cant argue with Cameron's success (or Swift's 😂). I enjoyed the film and also will be there when it sequel lands. But Im also an avid movie-goer, too. Thanks for the post!
I guarantee most people who say it’s just blue dances with wolves have never seen dances with wolves The story is fine , many many films have simple plots that have been done but this has incredible spectacle It’s defo hating something popular
@@alexholloway9847 I think people just focus on the familiar plot because it's arguably a relative weak point (not the plot itself, just the fact that it's been done before) and they can't fault Avatar for it's visuals, music, performances, which are all top notch. But how many times have we seen "Assassin who comes out of retirement for one last job", or "two people meet and hate each other, but fall in love by the end"? 99% of films reuse tried and true formulae that we've seen many times before. But that's because they are proven effective. In the case of Avatar, Cameron was not trying to make the next Citizen Kane. He wanted to create an experience. He wanted to build a living, breathing alien ecosystem, unlike anything seen on the bigscreen. He just needed a solid story arc to act as the foundation, and the "Soldier goes native" narrative was the perfect fit. Anybody who watches the film and ignores the emotion, spectacle and beauty because they're too busy nit-picking the plot is not the intended audience.
Mcfarlane kicked a field goal with these. I was a fan of the Mattel line when the movie first came out and those were nowhere near as good as these. Todd has a lot to be proud of with these and I will definitely be buying his Way of Water figures for the new film
I agree. I missed out on Mattel's offerings, but these are definitely worth the price. I'm looking forward to the figures from the new movie as well. Thanks!
I really loved this review and how you didn't completely trash the movie! I'm really looking forward to see more people talk about these figures and maybe i'll pick them up myself
Thanks! The negativity about Avatar surprises me a bit- but I feel like the more popular something is, the louder the negative comments become. I have no research to back that up other than anecdotal observation, so take it for what its worth (lol). Thanks for watching too
I think the Avatar movie was incredible, I think the figures are really cool as well, there are some things that are a little cheap about them but for the price u can't complain too much, I'm looking forward to the new movie coming out too
I think you are correct- there's a balance between price point and material and you can tell McFarlane is trying to not price out his collector base. Thanks for watching!
Avatar doesn’t have the best or most original plot, but it more than makes up for it with how great the CGI and the visuals are Hopefully the new film can keep up the same quality and not cheap out like most films now
@@FigureItOutDioramas same, I’m kinda skeptical after the abomination that was Dark Fate but as long as the visuals and CGI are on point then I’m all for the new film
Great review! If it goes on sale, I plan on buying the AMP Suit. I hope that they release a larger scale model of the scorpion or the Samson, or even some RDA Sec Ops contractors.
Thank you! AMP suit is worth it - looks fantastic! Not sure if there's going to be a release of any other military vehicles, but I'd be all for it. Hopefully there's another in the new movie like this one and we can get another. Thanks for watching!
I never saw Avatar because there was too much hype at the time and Disney later had that cynical Pandora theme park. Part of the impulsive reaction to these toys is comparing them to the odd decisions in the original toyline. Which is not fair to mcfarlane I think it's just what fans want without a golfing businessman figure to be seen.
So just curious, are you going to give the movie a shot now, just for pop culture sake? Also, I agree with your take on the toys. Now that this video has posted, I've been made aware of the toy reactions from different perspectives. Thanks for commenting!

@@FigureItOutDioramas My pleasure. Love your videos! Oh and about the arrows (lack thereof). 🤣🤣 well... I mean... I actually thought when I was editing that part, "why did I even say that?"! It was an unnecessary addition that just made it look like I'm a closet fan in denial. Which, I'm not. And that's my story.

@@FigureItOutDioramas Its my first time about "Big Boy" toys. Is this kind of sets of toys actually limited edition or will I be able to buy them in the next years?
So far as I have been collecting- these things have limited production runs and they don't re-issue production as I have experienced (like a second printing on a book). There are many after-market options like Ebay where a collector or investor will sell a New-In-Box (NIB) collectible, but rarely or ever below initial retail price. I've bought many collectibles this way, like some Conan figures (I'm a huge fan) that initially retailed at $15 in 2008 but I paid over 10x that. Will that happen to these figures? Probably not because production runs are higher. But the AMP suit NIB in a few years will most likely be $20-$50 more than they are now if trends continue. Just my opinion.
