Bought a larue stealth upper kit 3/4 years ago for 8oo unassembled was 1oo more for assembled. Kit include A complete upper your choice barrel 14.5-20in, gas block/tube, bcg, Ch, muzzle break. Then a complete lpk, mbt2 trigger, trigger jig, stock w/ cleaning kit, pistol grip, nessary tools, pic rail covers, buffer system w/ springco spring. So all you needed was a stripped lower. Today i priced out everything that came in the kit 1809.37 crazy
@@tylerfrogley1227 Because I didn't realize this video was with him, and now I will try the (unreliable) "Do Not Recommend Channel" method, and add this to my list of channels to avoid. Any more questions, or are you just looking to start more BS internet drama?
These were great when you could get the lower and upper kit for $1000. The price jump made them a meh buy. Also they no longer offer the PredatAR barrel. The barrel nut also requires a LaRue tool.
I really like my stealth upper. Bought it lightly used for fairly cheap about 4 years ago and after about 2k rounds it's still capable of 1-1.5moa groups with match ammo.
I have one of the first batch UU kits, and it's phenomenal. But I've had the issue of even after harassing their customer service people for a couple years now, they still won't sell me a Mlok handguard to replace thw original Keymod
I have owned 5 Larue rifles, all but one was consistently reliable and sub moa. The 12” I had couldn’t quite break below MOA but it was still reliable over the 2500ish rds I put through it. Larue makes good stuff and despite Mark’s meme fever dream products like the leather carry strap for scopes, I’ll likely end up with a ‘Tar at some point.
Finally I was just able to install the app on my android tablet !! Had the app on my iPhone for years now but couldn't find it for Android. Thanks for the link on the site. Love your work man !!
Bought my Larue 18" 6.5g upper kit a few years ago for 700 bucks. Came with everything, but a stripped lower. Finally got a Larue stripped lower from Freedom Trading for 300 bucks. Running a Geissele match trigger ( seems sacrilege). Stacks them at 100 yards. Ran it with the tranquilo muzzle device it came with. Swapped to SF warcomp to run with my B&T can. Didn't care for the Rat stock wobble, so ditched it for a STR.
6:03. Did that barrel have three separate set screw dimples? Being ab 18" rig I'm curious why they didn't go with a rifle length gas system instead of constricting the gas port on a Midlength?
Other than being an overgassed pig even in a mid length and it *needs* an H2 buffer to make it manageable, a Ultimate Upper kit and the discounted LT billet lower with everything coming in at like $950 after everything is said and done, the entire UU rifle is one of my favorite ARs ever. It would’ve been preferable to shave $50 or $100 off the kit price by not having their stupid muzzle brake, I have no real other complaints.
I would be grateful to know if that barrel with larue A3 barrel extension was installed into an uppper reciever forging with rifle ramps or m4 feed ramps. There has been a good supply of these Larue A3 barrels being sold as rifle barrel extension models needing rifle ramped uppers, rifle ramped uppers are scarce! It would be great to know if these truly come in rifle and m4 extension varieties or if these are gtg in either upper style.
Larue gas blocks are pretty funky. 3 parts there, gas tube, gas tube ferrule that the tube inserts into, and finally gas block. Also, factory assembled they need to be heated with a torch to break the bonds of the thread locker. No gas leaks, tight tolerances, assembled like they mean it. Funky but effective.
It sucks that he stopped selling the other variations of his rails on his site, there’s a lot of folks wanting something other than a $400 quad lol. I’d rather have a Larue rail but I can buy a bendy bill for half the price
wtf is up with that HG > upper connection..flares... EDIT: ok i get the idea, but what a funky way of accomplishing it. those upper flares that mate up with the handguard stick out precipitously
I'm just guessing, but having a mid-length gas system will make the rifle shoot softer, right? Everything else on it is a little irrelevant for having a soft shooty I'm sure.
mid length gas system & probably a smaller diameter gas port on the barrel due to it being 18". I think hes using standard spring and buffer which you could further tune for smoother shooting rifle.
Cool, but in terms of free float, I've yet to see any true free float barrels aside from bolt actions, because of the gas tube/piston rod if we're gonna be weenies about it.
Did you know marks been laying off most of his employees? He doesn't have a night shift anymore plus the guy that has been assembling all the mounts and he also lasers them is no longer in charge of his department. In fact, he was demoted, and they have women that dont know what they are doing muchless know anything about guns assembling them lol. Plus larue is having financial issues hence the massive layoff they have been going through. Even the web site is suffering because he let go of the I.T. department lmao. Plus ATF has been up thier asses.
A guy named Bill Buppert (Chasing Ghosts podcast) has suggested that a mid range AR with a higher end BCG like BCM is a great option. I have an IWI that is only about 3/4 pound heavier than the DD, and I’m just going to get a new BCG. I can’t outrun a milspec trigger anyway.
@@SDGLFDNC Those IWI ARs are really good for the money tho. Their SPR version is actually very good not just for the money but period. It's a legit sub-moa barrel in that thing.
@@armorers_wrench I have been highly impressed with it. Though I haven’t been able to shoot much lately, I have run it hard. Sometimes 200+ rounds in a short time, and it’s never stuttered. The rail hasn’t budged. I did loctite it after I got it, but it’s free floating and I’ve been rough-ish. You can see some uneven wear on the BCG, but that’s after 3-4k rounds. It helps that I clean and oil it. Another budget firearm that’s punching out of its weight class is the Taurus tx22. I put roughly 20,000 rounds through the compact before I had to replace parts. 1400 rounds with no cleaning and whatever ammo I could find before I had any problems. The Holosun on it started having issues around the 20k range too.
Feelin the pedigree on this one.
Too bad Mark went nuts with their pricing.
Too bad Biden and Janet Yalen made the dollar Monopoly money
Too bad Mark went nuts.
I got one a few years ago when they were like $700. Glad I jumped on that upper when I did, it was a steal
Larue has one of the naming schemes of all time
An AR of all time? That handguard receiver mounting system is crisp!
definitely.

Their Ultimate Upper kits were the best possible value for a fantastic rifle for a few years. Their current pricing forces me to look elsewhere
Focus still has the most underrated reviews imo

LaRue is S tier AR15. They have much better QC than G$ or DD.
I need "the Asian" to review the guts after 5k rounds tho
Thanks for the deets brah !!
Bless you.

Good review 👍
I may not be a kid but I will certainly keep it 💯
It's literally anything time.
The UU kits were an absolute steal when they came out. If they were 14-1500 i think they'd still be a decend deal for what they are
Does it get as hot as the lmt?

16” PredatAR barrel on my UU kit, to clarify.
Interesting, I wonder why that one is overgassed.
@@gundeals Maybe it’s a 16” barrel thing?
I want to say I ordered it April/May 2020 so maybe it changed over time?
A BRT gas tube fixed my over gassed UU. The TranQuilo never comes off now! It’s awesome!
thx

Great barrel. My FN button cuts all shoot this well, but they're probably not this light.
My 16in larue stealth barrel shoots 3/4 moa 5 shot groups with my handloads. And with an h2 buffer and sprinco blue its very.tame
Is it one of the ones ever made?
Opticsplanet and Dvor have parts for discounts. Larue barrels just work. My 6.5 creed is dumb accurate with bulk hornady gunnar.
🇺🇸
I would totally clone this but alas i have not the pedigree
Still asking you to try out an Armalite M153GN18 or atleast the 13 inch version but would like to see the 18 inch version more
Marky Mark done priced himself out of his market.
Not a pencil barrel, just a barrel that has a more aggressive taper than the Criterion Core series
Correct, I misspoke.
The olight 🧐
i know right.
@@gundeals How is the javelin though? Came very close to buying one recently.
the barrel looks way larger than pencil before gas block. might be pencil after
why is the gas block so long? there are several design choices here that im stumped by

What AO bcg do you recommend?
AO TMS, it's the basic mil spec BCG that does everything you need it to do.

For the price, I expect their lowers to be ambi, and they are not. I would only buy their uppers personally.
That's what I do mostly as well.

18" midlength? You don't see that everyday. Strange choice tbh.
That's a good choice most of the time. Very small gas port, long skinny section past the gas block, etc.

Milspec standard.
It’s an AR. Didn’t hear the weight but guess it’s well above 5-6 lb I demand on mine even with semi pencil barrel.
