5 Foot Strengthening Exercises

  • The five exercises in this video will challenge your toes and the muscles of your feet to start moving as they were intended. These exercises will help strengthen the arch intrinsic muscles and facilitate the process of aligning and restoring your feet.
    Exercises:
    1. Toe lifts
    2. Toe presses
    3. Toe spreading
    4. Short foot
    5. Hacky sack curls
    Perform the exercises on each foot for 5-10 repetitions, at least 2-3 times per day.

    Just found this channel after listening to Daniel Vitalis' podcast, my feet are doing well already but I'm definitely going to try these to further improve them. Thanks a lot :)

    Do you do these exercises with the Correct toes or without

    For your recommended shoes (for bunions) do you have a non-leather list? I don't necessarily need certified vegan...but I'd prefer not to get leather.

      I bought a pair of Kuru sneakers after my bunion surgery (I saw that they were recommended for feet with plantar factitious, bunions, etc.). I bought them in a wide width for my left foot that was still swollen from surgery. I have never worn wide width before and now my right foot is so much better and may not need surgery! I have a pair for working out and another for day-to-day wear... love them! Woo hoo!

    While standing or sitting?

      Hi Tim and Ruth, you can start from either position. If one feels more difficult than the other, try working up to your more difficult stance.

    I can only lift my big toe if i hold my other toes down and I can only lift my little toes if i hold my big toe down, does it help bunion reversal if I do it this way or must I have surgery to correct

      Hi again :) we find that if you have mobility in your big toe, it's a good sign that you will benefit from doing these exercises. However, when there is little to no mobility in your toes, we would want to take a closer look to ensure that we do everything we can to treat your feet conservatively before recommending surgery.     I have really flat feet, would these exercise help build my arch?

      Hi Nick, they can definitely be helpful in building arch strength. The more we use and activate our arches the stronger they become. Be patient and treat it much like any other muscle group!
