Just been given a kit for Christmas. Can't wait to get started and your video has given me the best tips so far! Thanks and all the best from BC, Canada!
I feel like I’m having deja vu…. Have I seen this before?? Yes. did I watch it again anyway? YES did I comment again because I appreciate the work Chris has put into this video? YES. Will my comment and thumbs up help Chris’s video get more views ? YES. Ultimately leading to more income so he can continue posting great content that we all enjoy SO THUMBS UP AND COMMENT FOLKS and a share wouldn’t hurt either😬. Thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
I suppose everyone is different and it can change with experience, but I only use one hand unless the pan is very heavy, I find it awkward to use two. I also only use the pan riffles for the first wash, after that I go to the smooth side. I know this takes a lot of practice and you need to have a lot of control of what you wash out, and I do the wash of material coming out the front with a side to side motion without allowing anything from the bottom of the pan to move. With so much practice it comes easily and I have tested everything that washes out, and I don’t lose anything.
I'm loving that hat microphone! And it's nice to see how panning works when you're upside down ;) (the most original and hilarious Australia joke, I know, I know...) I'll be moving down under full time in the next few months, can't wait to check out the local creeks!
Dude you are the best. I’ve watched so many videos and none of them broke it down this simply. They didn’t help at all. Yours just made sense. I will be donating to your channel or subscribing or something to help you out. Love the videos. Keep up the good work man. Great stuff. Thank you 🙏
I like my batea and small 3D printed finishing pan. When I use this "normal" pan, I still swirl it like batea first... Everybody has own method, all work...
You have a great teaching mode Mr Chris full of no nonsense sensible ideas to help anyone learn how to collect heavy stuff from any light substrate....gems ironstone shot gun pellets and if youre on the right bit of water ...gold thanks for sharing just to add the Garrett panning kit is available in the UK and so is the Minelab one but its not as easy to find
The deer that rolled into my backyard to nibble new leaves just as I clicked on this seemed to enjoy the video. Soon as it ended they wandered off. Wouldn't be surprised to see them come through with gold pans next time.
Hi chris, appreciate the video, i asked a few weeks ago for a brush up video on panning, something i can always refer back to and practise! Very awesome mate 🤟🤟
I too use the swirl method as for the batea pan. I do this with my minelab pan till I have about a cup of cons left. Nice and quick and works well on reedy creek. With testing of my tailings have found this method to be fast and very effective.
I have always been a Garrett super sluice fan but since my eyesight has changed with older age i picked up an XP snakeskin 15 inch blue pan and i really like that pan, the more and more i use it the less im using the garrett i still usually use my Garrett for the first pan of the day but quickly revert to the Xp the rest of the time because its a lighter pan and the blue makes the gold stand out better at least for me out in the feild. At home i use green or black, weird i know lol.
I figured if I was thorough enough, I could take a few shovels of dirt from my backyard and work them down to see if I could find some microscopic specks of gold. Just to practice panning before I actually get out there. I saw a lot of microscopic sparkly stuff but it's so small I have no idea whether it's gold or just tiny minerals lustering while wet under light. I think I might have a few more runs even if I don't find a spec of gold just to get the technique down. I always thought panning was easy but swirling that pan around and having the material move how you want it to really is tricky hehe.
Yup I use that method too, you can process quite a pile before you need to get the gold out, I also really like it because you dont wash any gold out of your pan. Lol
It's a great guide if all the steps are done up to the panning off of the material it's pretty hard to lose gold panning even when your being fast ( Dan done a test on his panning and he did a bad panning pan and he still didn't lose the gold ) but it's better to work on the creek for sure and do the refining at home
Hi Chris, I like the videos 😊 I have taken up the art of Prospecting earlier this year as a bit of therapy & Bush camping. Just wondering what type of wireless microphone do you use off your cap ? Are they any good ? David My Touring Adventures
brilliant Chris, just what I needed as I just bought the Mine Lab beginners kit from BCF. Only prob is working out how to follow the steps while still knee-deep panning on the creek. also wondering........ is there is an optimum size when using a sluice?
Weirdly unskilled and skilled at the same time... I'm not a gold panner and am trying to learn. I do however have a lot of equipment because I'm recovering gold from electrical components. I think that panning properly will help immensely. At the moment I just get my gold, smelt, cut the gold off the smelt, re smelt, repeat until you have nice gold. I've been classifying and winnowing the residue and recovering more gold.. I definitely want to compare winnowing to panning
Every creek has its own types of gravel/clay/bedrock and sizes of gold, I learned on a fly poop area spending the whole week panning buckets that I dug, I then went to a chunky creek with that same panning method. I was quickly told by the old timers that I was ‘panning so dainty’ and I could get a bit more aggressive with it. Some creeks I’ve panned in were like kids play sand, no indicator minerals, gold is the indicator haha, when I found that out I was able to smash the pans out
Am I crazy and losing it or did I hear someone say "Hi Chris" somewhere around the 3:40 mark? I'm not even high.... That creek is haunted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget to season the pan before going to the creek
Hot sauce works great
I prefer to use just salt and pepper.
@@mysteryfinds simple but effective
Use fire on your plastic pans to season, right. Lol
Good call brother 🤙🏼

Great tip thanks! My 10yo son will love this, we just started prospecting. Have you ever had a crack at the Shoalhaven river in NSW?

Reedy creek tin makes learning to pan just about hard mode !
Those flakes are so fine they move with that black sand so easily.
Great place to learn.
Great tips Chris! Get that Gold Brother!! Señor Sweaty Wet Pants must be jealous of your panning skills. LOL 😅🤣

I have a creek that is very rocky, and i wanted to know which areas i should scoop my pay-dirt from.
from your basement

I use the small riffles with a side to side motion to remove all but the black sands. Oh and gold..
Another great RUclips vid, thanks Chris.
I love your channel u get to learn alot, and new stuff to
Amazing work 👏 👌 👍
Love your vids. Gotta try your techniques in my area

I do this when i go panning for small garnets, works wet or dry.
very good video, well explained and it will work if followed exactly as you explained.
Well Done Chris!!!
Great vid. Shame all 3 kits are unavailable at this time in the UK. 😞

Hope you like it!
Great tips! I don't get out often but I've noticed I'm slowly getting better at it.
Back to basics, excellent!
Thanks for sharing Chris.

Nice tutorial, Probably should mention seasoning or scratching up the pan.
This is a very helpful video for my first time goldpanning
wow amazing results my friend, keep going. greetings my friend's hobby. 👍💪🤝🇮🇩
Question wouldn't classifying it also partially stratify the material?
What about using the small riffles ?
Thanks always learning.
thank you for this. Great information for somone like me just starting to look into panning

I really want this panning kit.
Very cheap and easy to get online. Usually a 3 pan kit plus snuffer and other goodies included.
There are links in the description on where to buy various panning kits

How is moving a pan side to side hard?
Shake lift shake lift repeat
