- A 45-year-old woman drove her 19-year-old son and another 17-year-old child nearly an hour and a half away from their home in order to panhandle using fake information, authorities said.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a sergeant with the Victorville Police Department observed a man in traffic lanes holding a sign with a child’s picture and writing on it just after 12:35 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and U.S. Highway 395 in Victorville.

Yeah, I remember I did that. A lady at the Barstow McDonalds was asking for money, but I ended up getting her a hamburger meal. Even though I was getting her food, she was still complaining that I didn't give her money. NEVER AGAIN!!!
@@ICallItAsItIsI found out about food banks the other month. Refer them to a food bank. I donated food & got to hear about Jesus Christ which soften my heart. I believe they were Lutheran although I was raised Eastern Orthodox.

Always the adults fault. The child was the victim. You don't know if the adults said to do it or something scary/bad would happen to them. Hopefully the children will get help coping psychologically so that they would know better how to handle it

You forgot to mention this is their best, most realistic option. Unemployment currently 22.4% and you can forget getting a job without a connection. So this is whats left.

Oh contraire mon frere! I used to know a homeless man where I live and he never asked for money. He only excepted money that was offered and always asked to work. Very unfortunate given the fact that he was educated, articulate, intelligent, and hard working..........but the streets just owned him. He could never readjust.

As a low income adult, I don't have to worry about this. Money is pretty tight for me and my life is always on a budget. So I can't ever spare a dollar for panhandlers. Saved by my own poverty!

While trump was president he put higher tariffs because he wants companies to move back to the United States right? That's great except the companies aren't going to lose money, they are going to charge more and this getting companies to come back to the United States is great but it's not going to happen over night AND IF it happens what do you think will happen when "Kenmore" has to stop paying 10 cents an hour and now is paying 20$ an hour (at least)? Some people are actually in need, especially those with health problems who can’t get a job due to their conditions, mental or physical conditions. Nothing wrong with aiding those people, but those with signs of funerals or other shady reasons while being dressed with clean clothes are obviously scams.

I understand you see the world one sided, but I just hope that one day you or your loved ones don’t end up in the street because you ended up in a fatal accident or suffered from an unseen health condition that leaves you without a job or homeless. I know all about him and his life and history and all of the bad choices he made, all the people he took advantage of, all the people he used and abused to support his habits. I knew this was another scam. I only buy food when I can. If they turn it down, then they get nothing. One thing I know for sure is.. Walmart is always hiring.
I work for Labor Finders, they always have work available and they pay the same day. Labor Finders are a staffing agency with many locations.

No they aren't. I have applied five times and heard nothing. And I answered 'ask the supervisor' for every question. I don't even get an email telling me they received the test. And the agencies like Labor Finders is a joke if you are female. Honestly, I think Walmart screens out people on SSI because they ask if you are on SSI on the application.

I noticed a lot of them that they have different pictures of little kids kids too El Monte but I keep noticing a lot of it and I said oh no I give one man $40 cause I feel so bad that he had a picture of his son who had a cancer and passed away. It hurt my feelings and I give him $40 but then I started noticing a lot of it every time different street to the same storythat they’re doing because it takes a lot for someone who does needed they should be in prison for doing that

Oxnard has a massive homeless population too though, so it's intensely difficult to pick and choose between the real and fakes. The county used to make the homeless camp at a campground in between Ventura and Oxnard, so it's natural that they would still congregate heavily in the general area.

The only time I ever gave money to someone on the street, it was a guy who used to do a juggling act next to an intersection. He was there during commute time, day after day, and he was WORKING for his money.
it's good to have a street talent such as magic or music or tarot reading. It's good to think ahead in life and get up a street skill in case you have to panhandle.

Donating to Animals & your relatives is the best way to go. Nobody could judge you.
I gave stuff to my aunt's neighbor & was judged severely, I only gave them stuff because they asked for it. But I learned my lesson, its better to be hated then judged.
I saw them on July 21st when driving to Vegas. Exact same sign, but "Ana" was 15 .... I said I'd like to donate to the church and the guy pretended like he didn't speak English
This isn’t anything new. So why are people surprised they’re getting scammed? My grandparents told me of a panhandler (in the early 90s) in Florida that would beg for money every day and at the end of the day be seen going into a 5 star hotel.
If people are stupid enough to donate to them and believe their scams, then the scammers are outsmarting them all!

There are absolutely NO legitimate panhandlers. Nobody who actually cares about improving their life in a meaningful way begs on a street corner. NOBODY.
I live in Victorville and I've see them out there plenty of times. Last year it was a picture of a babygirl in the hospital with tube in her mouth and nose, and they claim they needed money for her funeral. If someone tells me that they are hungry and need money to buy food, i usually buy them some food. I don't give them money.

39 years ago, I started my career. On my way home one afternoon, a guy asked me for some spare change. I felt studly and I gave him a dollar. I saw him go into a liquor store, so I pulled over to see what he went in there for. He came out with a paper bag. I saw him reach in and make a motion with his fingers. Then, I saw him drink from the bag, obviously concealing some sort of alcohol. I have never given out any money to people on the streets ever again. I’ve given out spare food, untouched and unconsumed, but no more cash for these folks.
These people are everywhere !…I mean, everywhere! ,. Really!….as long as people keep giving them money,they are not going anywhere!…and , I see people giving them money!

I saw a family of scammers in El Monte and I gave the first one money, then an hour later I saw the same sign held by a different person.

This was pretty bad in Riverside until the city started cracking down on them and putting signs up not to give money to panhandlers. Don’t ever see them anymore. I’ve never given a single penny to panhandlers and I suggest you all do the same!

In my area, they use the picture of the same poor baby, who actually died, to panhandle.
I know this has nothing to do with it but I'll never forget i went to my ATM inside my one morning (i was the only one in there) & a female came up to the DOOR of the bank and knocked on it to get my attention & asked if i wanted to donate. I was only getting $10 to wash my clothes . Even though i felt bad for saying no, i really didn't feel comfortable because of how i was approached since i was standing at the atm with money in my hand. This was some years ago but to this day i still vividly remember that interaction.

I don't like panhandling, it should be illegal. I can't get over how hypocritical California is to protect it, proclaiming it 'free speech' to intentionally lie, defraud, and harass people. If only they actually cared about real free speech and the Bill of Rights, rather than subverting it into support of their libertine licentiousness.
