    Thee cameras are real nice. Mines came a little broken when turning it would make a clicking noise and lose position. I opened the camera there is 2 small stepper motors both driven by belts. The one the did the Pan the belt was really lose reolink though about this and they added a tensioner system to the motor the was adjustable with a turn of a screw. And now camera works perfectly. Also there is a foam thing on the mount makes it a lot quieter than allowing the vibration going to the wood of my mount

    Thanks for the good review. I've had a 823A for a couple months. For the money it's a great value IMO. Of course it's not as good as those costing much more like Hikvision, Dahua which are good for commercial businsses, but for homeowners I think the 823A is fine. They do plan to improve the auto tracking, vertically. Of note mine often can't track vehicles if they drive by like 20mph+, the cars whiz by and the cam looses them. It just isn't capable of following fast. But I don't care about tracking vehicles anyway, just people near my property so I've turned off vehicle auto tracking. My street is like your's not far from the house. I think for streets further away or long driveways the 823A would track vehicles better. Reolink may improve faster speeds tracking with a future update.

    Thanks for your comprehensive test report and excellent camera clips (not sure it's legal in my country to film people walking by but it should be, if only to catch the non-pooper-scoopers). I'm currently bench testing a new 823A with latest firmware in my office. It's in standalone mode using the SD card and Reolink's Mac client and I have one big complaint: when viewing the 4K stream, the PTZ controls are very laggy. It takes at least 3 seconds for the video to catch up with a command (although the camera moves into position after just 1 second). If I lower the main stream resolution the PTZ works fine. Not sure what is causing the 4K lag: it's not a bandwidth problem as I have gigabit fibre with headroom to spare; and other Mac users have told me they don't suffer any 4K lag via the NVR so maybe it's too much processing/buffering for a standalone to handle. If I view the 4K stream in SecuritySpy (Mac equivalent of Blue Iris), the lag is reduced to 1 second so I guess there's a Reolink software issue somewhere.

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY  2 года назад +1

      No expectation of privacy when the person or action is viewable from the public road here. Pretty simple rules on that.
      Haven't had an issues with lag on it even with Blue Iris. Is the cpu of the client not able to keep up?

    • @kayberry6292
      @kayberry6292 2 года назад

      @@digiblurDIY The client CPU - an iMac 5K with 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 40GB RAM and 4TB SSD HD - comfortably handles H265 4K streams from other sources - including 4K streams from the 823A when viewed in a different client.

    • @j0404t
      @j0404t 2 года назад +2

      Dumb question - would using SD card or local storage be reason you are experiencing lag? Would NVR be faster than SD/Micro SD?
      I'm also confused it sounds like you are using both methods above? I thought it's either NVR or MicroSD for storage.

    • @kayberry6292
      @kayberry6292 2 года назад +1

      @@j0404t NVR would be faster than SD card but not relevant unless recording. Interaction with the PTZ controls is done via the live stream (in fact the PTZ controls don't work on recorded video). I use only SD card but it is possible to use both at the same time. Some people like to use the NVR for continuous recording while also recording only motion events to the SD card.

    Can you tell me if there is a later firmware version than 3.1.0.804 that was release on January 20th? I had some of the same tracking issues, and for the most part was fixed with the firmware update. However, there is still an issue with the vertical tracking. The camera does not track down like it should. I was told by their online support people that the Engineers were working on a fix for that. Do you have the same issues or is there another firmware update I am not aware of? Also, your light tracking works much better than mine. My light does not come on until you are about 15 to 20 feet away.

      P.S. hope the above info help anyone looking to but it and connect it to hikvision nvr. the hikvision nvr works great so far can call the ptz to look at particular preset locations based on line crossings from other camera etcs. Note camera has no WDR so detail in shadows little hard but some picture tweaks work to help this etc (mainly at night) but still a good picture and decent value especially compared to 2.5 the cost for a hikvision that has no floodlights and no human detection mode.
