    • @JoonasWideniusOfficial
      @JoonasWideniusOfficial  6 лет назад +3

      It's really difficult to say when to add some speed. It's better to start slowly and concentrate to the sound and controlling the fingers. When you feel a little bit more certain what you do you can try to add some speed. If you keep falling then you should do more slowly. And remember to practice most of the time slowly to keep the control.

      Not really good links that I know now but if you look for E-major scale or A phrygian scale you should find many examples.

    When you play rasgueados, I see you extend your fingers outward (from the guitar) a little, to give your palm a *concave* shape. I also see that you keep the fingers separated/stretched apart from each other (which is the opposite of how one plays arpeggios ??) ..
    Is there a reason for this? Do you do it conscientiously? Thanks

    • @JoonasWideniusOfficial
      @JoonasWideniusOfficial  4 года назад

      It depends on what rasgueado I play. Mainly it has come to that by playing, it's not 100% decided thing, but also when I've been thinking of technical things I have done somethings to make sound more powerful and clear. When my fingers are "open" or stretched like you say, they are actually relaxed with no any tension on 'em. Hope this answers you a bit!

    • @ubershredder1989
      @ubershredder1989 4 года назад

      @@JoonasWideniusOfficial Hey thanks for the reply, I think I know what you mean that your fingers are more relaxed when they are separated apart. I mean with the left hand I notice, that when I spread my fingers, I seem to have more independent control over each one. I am beeining to assume now that the same might apply for the right hand. For example when paco plays picado, he clearly separates the ring and the pinky away from the active index and middle fingers.

  • @ubershredder1989

    I have a question regarding playing picado on 2 open strings. Lets say you are alternating between playing the open B string and the open E(high) string at a fast tempo (like TaKA TaKA TAKA TaKa TaKa Taka etc etc). For the B string you use i finger and for E(high) string you use M finger. This is straightforward. What if you had to play M for the B string and i for the E(high) string. Is it normal to play like this in flamenco? I have difficulties because the M finger is much longer than the i. I just wanna know if I should bother practicing this.. Thank you

    • @JoonasWideniusOfficial
      @JoonasWideniusOfficial  6 лет назад +1

      Answer is simple :-) You should be able to play any kind of string change. I know how it first feels a little bit strange to jump from (for example) B string to E string with i-finger but it should be possible. One good way to practice this kind of thing is to play for example G-major scale with 3 treble strings. Starting from open G-string and playing the scale through to G-note on E-string. And then you change the starting finger every time you begin again. So, you play the scale starting with i-finger and next round you'll start with m-finger etc. You got it? My m-finger is much longer also but in the end it doesn't affect too much when you practice enough :-)

      thank you so much for the reply. I will try the exercise you reccomended !
      I generally don't have issue using these 'reverse fingerings' for fast tempo linear scales. However, I noticed this becomes an issue when executing fast picado bursts on 2 adjacent strings, like when I am playing a trill for example, or do a quick picado burst to initiate a scale run when 32nd notes come into question

      That's true and I've been told about this that some basic material would be needed. I can now reveal that I'm preparing new a video series where I go through lot of basic material like chords, techniques and so on. Please follow and you'll get the news when these are released. I try to do them (most of them) during September and hopefully the release would be in the end of that month of October.
