    In these days 35/45 years old is still a very good age to train and progress!! We are not in 1900s.

    If I was in my 40s, I'd do cleans and snatches - in my 60s i do power cleans off the rack

    Great points and insights! I'm 64, started crosstraining and WL DEC 2021. I get highest value and fun from olympic lifts. Thanks for the awesome content.

    You mentioned mobility a few times, but I think it deserves it’s own spot on your list. I’m M50 +109 competitive weightlifter and it’s my primary issue. I do mobility work 7 days/week and do the lifts only 3x/week-and I start each session with moderately-weighted warmup of either OH squats for snatches and front squats for C&J….works wonders to allow me to get in good position for the upcoming lifts.

      Agreed, especially for injury prevention and quality of life, let alone Oly WL... It's paramount ( this and core work ) to performing in olympic weightlifting, with technique work...
      Way, way more than BBing, even though BBing is useful for structural integrity too.

    Great video! I'm 36 years old and just switched from crossfit to weightlifting and agree with everything you said. Do you have an on going masters programming or just one 8 week cycle?

    What’s your opinion on drop sets for bench press?
    Would 90% 2 reps-Down 20 lbs 3 reps-Down 20lbs for 3 reps be effective in building strength?

    • @GarageStrength
      @GarageStrength  3 года назад

      We will often add high rep range drop sets at around 70 - 80% following heavy sets of 4 or lower

    Interesting, common sense episode. I had to laugh at your picture of an over 60s athlete, though. I am 62. I'll tap you out, bro, as big and strong as you are.

      On reading my comment, it sounds a bit braggy. Perhaps I should say...I'm 62 and feel I would give a good account of myself, in the gym, the ring, or on the mountain. Don't discount older athletes; some of us can still kick ass.

    Good video but what kind of idiot requires masks during the execution of Olympic Lifts ? Not only is it stupid it's dangerous to limit your oxygen intake during peak exertion ! Someone could black out !

      @@GarageStrength How about someone that doesn't do any research and doesn't know the masks are useless. N95 mask (the good ones) rating .3 micron particles...Covid size .03 microns...Yea that chain link fence is going to keep the mosquitos out of my yard ! Absolutely no study shows any difference between places with and without mask mandates. As a matter of fact the ones without masks are often have lower per capita infection rates.
