Tiger (Chota Matkasur) gets angry and growls as jeep hits a stone in Tadoba Tiger Reserve (TATR)

- Junior or Chota Matkasur is a big juvenile male seeking a territory in Tadoba Andhari Tiger reserve or TATR. He was sitting gracefully in the middle of the road and we had a brief terrifying moment when he got irritated because our jeep hit some large stones while backing. The commotion attracted his attention and his menacing looks sent shivers down our spines. What an experience! This guy who is bigger than Matkasur, the reigning male tiger, is huge and will be a force to reckon with in the next few years.
When we saw the tiger the excitement spread like a virus in the body!
In more recent times he has moved to the Navegaon area and settled himself. He is a very strong and huge tiger and has mastered to hunt and live independently now. He has had scuffles with other tigers and also fought with Maya and left the panderpouni ain bodi area. That he killed a mighty big Gaur or Indian Bison speaks volumes of his ability to take on large prey.
These days he is not often sighted and moves like a spy in the jungle.
Its heartening to know that owing to the Lockdown in the wake of Covid-19 Pandemic, TATR authorities have decided to telecast the daily updates of TATR through the RUclips Channel (TATR 4K Live). What a wonderful thing to do by the autorities!
The tiger growled because he didn't like the background music

Tigers are majestic animals. They are the lifeline of our jungle heritage. Without tiger or a lion, the jungle looses it's meaning.
Thank you for your comment. So true of what you said. There are of course other birds and animals and its a pleasure to watch them as well. Birds are innumerable and if you have a good binoculars its a pleasure to watch them.
Let's not forget the Snow leopards, Puma, Panther, Leopard, Cheetah, etc cats all part of the big cat eco sysyem
Lions dont live in jungles. Jungle is the tigers domain. 🐅

We saw that same collared male last month, similarly walking along the trail at Tadoba. It was a magical once-in-a-lifetime experience.
I am with you, mate. In another instance we tracked down junior matkasur and videographed the experience. The same was the case with our "closest encounter with Matkasur". All i can say is we are here to tell the tale! lol... :)

Your video genuinely gave me goosebumps. It must have definitely been a thrilling experience for ya'll.
There is no video about tigers quite like this anywhere on youtube. This vid was one of a kind and I do hope you keep uploading.
Contrary to the negative comments about the music, I feel that it added a sense of exploration and eagerness to the vid. It did put a smile on my face and I think that's what matters.
Keep up the good work!
Cheers!
Thank you. You understand the difficulties of shooting, especially in Indian jungles. Opportunities don’t present itself. In this case the young driver also panicked.
respect this don of the jungle...our pride our king❤❤
Thank you for your comment.
Yes the music is so irritating, spoiled such a well made video
Thank you for your views. We will make a note of it.

Being beaten by a small mother sloth bear is not what you call an emperor or king. The tiger is far to be a fearless strong lion.
@Thousif nisar a king never hunts , its the others who bring food to him
The who do not fight never get respect.
Wow..I just experienced the spine chilling fear down there, thanks to the drums as a background track for a weak hearted viewer like me..your video showing the most fearless beast on our planet..its roaming like a king and cares a damn. I felt as if it has excused all humans there with a small warning...amazing comments online to ease the tension, thanks a lot ...I would love to see now the same video without a music track behind to feel the actual sounds...Subscribed with loads of love and thanks...
You put it very nicely. Thanks for this.
Imagine the tiger saying - It will be great to have you around for dinner tonight.
Tiger be like ... "Humans in a parked car are like sardines in can 🐱😋🍖"
yup thats why some parts of the video got shaky!
Wow the tiger is sheer beauty ! Apart from the nonsensical music the video is great 👍
It was so shaky
Tiger is magestic animal . But not An Animal of our definition. Will never touch you in anger mode. I had encountered a female tiger in Nagzira with cubs due to our disturbance, cubs scattered. She got angry ,charged our group 12times .we were on morning bird watch walk.Walk I.e. were on ground . Sitting still.but that animal didn't touch . I was so close ,I could see her whisker hairs and face hairs standing in anger . But no she didn't touch me .That day I got lesson that being mighty with control on anger makes Tiger a King , Magnificent Animal. I remember that day of 2may 2002....and respect increased for The Tiger....
That was one scary encounter. I think you understand animals much better and tourists need to know this. These parks are meant for tourists like you who know to respect wildlife. That said, walking can be dangerous. Were you in the buffer zone? Tell us more about it.
Amazing sir , this is truly amazing. You were lucky to have see that beautiful creature so closely. Amazing .

Jesus, calm down, that tiger was completely relaxed at all times
Tiger is like saying ok you are my guests here you can stay but behave
Thank you for your comments. You said it well. Enjoy nature quietly. That is the way.
OMg...the warning growl - I would have been petrified!!!!! 😱
Yes. was a scary encounter.
That is exactly what tiger growls are supposed to do. They growl and petrify their prey with shock and then pounce. The growl is loud and low frequency and it somehow shocks prey for a while.Every adaptation in nature is for a reason including the growl.
They are used to human presence and do not usually consider humans a threat
Amazing : Beautiful video such a nearby view of big Tiger sitting gracefully in the middle of the road & Horrible movement's when he was irritated. 👌👍
Great video, but have you considered that in a video story where sounds are important - jeep going over stones, annoyed tiger growling - not having a drumming sound track might be better?
Kruger National Park, Kruger Sightings video clips have millions of views, no sound tracks just actual recorded sounds.
The natural world has action and drama enough.
Good Mind pl watch another video of our: tracking junior matkasur s foiled hunt... no audio only our conversation of how we spotted the tiger with deer calls...
Tracking Juniour Matkasur's foiled hunt is what is the real tracking and sighting experience
That was very exciting! Thank you for posting. I do agree with the commenter about the drum track. There would be more suspense if it weren't there, I think.
Yes very true.

i've never seen a tiger or lion "going to restroom" publicly. 😂😂 coz they are absolutely dignified and majestic. but i guess they're animals too.
It is marking it"s territory. Not pissing publicly on roadside like we humans do.
@@alkemiebala i'm talking about him taking a shit not urinating.
I can never and will never go in such an open jeep safari.
Try it out once. Its not that scary. Its thrilling. You will be guided by trained trackers.
Sound jugement, without a doubt the risk of getting killed is quite high. Tiger used to attack safari hunters on elephants back in the old days. The only reason nothing happens here is not opportunity but full belly. Prey must be good in these forests that is the only reason.
@@ericastier1646 no physically fit tiger ever attack to human being until unless he was threatened....humans are not their preferred food until unless they don't have any such injury which restrict them to hunt down their natural prey they don't come for humans, cattles, dogs or any of human belongings.
@@TheHalloween81 Great information on tiger behavior. It sounds like India should protect tigers more.
Tiger “The whole jungle is mine so I strut but yours is only a little jeep so you squeeze”?
He is Gorgeous, please take care of him with so few left in the wild. Stupid trophy hunters, poachers and snair trapper's are everywhere. Thank you for sharing😀
No trophy-hunting of tigers is allowed in any country of Asia though, just poaching & habitat loss.
Plus India, Nepal, Bhutan, have already crossed the target of doubling the 2010 numbers... Russia & Thailand may hit the mark by the 2022 deadline too.
TROPHY HUNTER DO NOT HUNT TIGERS!!! poachers do!
@@Noctifern Are you telling me that someone would kill that magnificent and beautiful tiger for poaching ( And not keep his gorgeous fur coat ) to have as a rug or cover for their bed ? I don't believe anyone would throw that away. And any form of keeping something from that tiger would be a trophy. I am in the USA and I have seen real tiger skin rugs with the head still attached in my life time. Either way, I hate all animal poachers, Snair trapper's, Trophy hunters and people who abuse animals in any way or form. And I pray that God will show them the same mercy they showed the animals😁

Well done, This tiger is very massive and you need ultimate stability to film it! I have just filmed him recently in October, with our gypsy crawling along with him.
You are absolutely right. Juniour Matkasur is really huge. Your video is great!

Hi
Just saw this majestic Chota Matka on our 13th Dec morning Safari from Alizanja Gate Had a tango with him upclose.
New sub btw where are you from?
What a terrific experience 😬😬
Indeed!
Both tiger & tourists were very calm & well behaved. 👍
(But wish you had uploaded it without the drum-music)
So.. Is he already bigger than Matkasur?
check out the other video "closest encounter with Matkasur". Junior Matkasur is far bigger than Matkasur.
Whats to prevent tiger jumping on one of these roofless vehicles and checking out his next meal?
These vehicles without roofs don't look at all safe .
@@timsmith2279 Their instinct... they won't go beyond charging & growling at vehicles.
India has been doing hundreds of safari per year, in 50 reserves for 40 years. There's been only 1 (freak) case of injury.
Rishi Chatterjee 😂😂😂😂😂 true
so beautiful...i hope he's treated well
Very well treated.. indian parks are fascinating to visit... and tigers are the cherry on top
Matkasur, I've only seen in 1 of your other vids. He must be a very healthy, Alpha type, prime specimen of a Tiger,to produce offspring as big as this. This juvenile male is HUGE! Just look at the size differences next to the people. Amazing 👏 I'm curious,I'm new here,it's 2022,is Matkasur still the dominant male in the area?
Matkasur lives on! He has been ousted during the pandemic by a younger tiger, but has moved to a different area. Considering that he is over 12 years old, it’s a grand success story of survival.
We went to Tadoba in 2017, then this tiger was a cub. Our search for Maya and cubs were in vein. We couldn't get a sight of her but our guide said she was following us and keeping an eye on us.
Well, I'm all out of youtube. I just saw a tiger taking a dump.
Its a great vdo, thanks.
If possible, please repost it without the background music.

Tiger: let me take a dump
It's not a background music... it's there heartbeat
I was excited seeing d tiger closed to our gipsy some of us were trembling with fear seeing him to close its really awesome
yes it an experience that cannot be explained in words.
He probably knows or feels that attacking the humans would get him persecuted, so he resorts to inspecting them and signaling dominance.
That’s a nice perspective of putting things. The tiger dominates these areas-there is no doubt.
Intimidating is a word made for wild tigers.
Aptly put!
yu r so.lucky We visited twice but unluckly we did nt seen any tiger both time we returned but seen nothing and good quality video bt if original recording sound might have been the awesome....
I wouldn't say it was warning growl because i think he was pretty chilled and didn't had worry regardless nice video.

I'm from Chandarapur very happy after watching this video.. Bcz tadoba its in Chandarapur Maharashtra
Shabnam Abbas will be back again in Oct nov... we loved the terrain
Nothing much around can argue with him!

The jeeps are open top...if tiger jumps on jeep. Why they are not closed with glass?

You will sight a tiger one day. Dont lost heart!
Open Gypsy is unsafe, in Ranthambore they provide a Canter, which is much safer. In Mudumalai Tiger reserve in Tamil Nadu they allow closed vehicles like Scorpio, Innova etc. Tiger spotting there is almost 100 % sure.
Most safaris in India do have a canter. But all safaris have open jeeps as well.

Cage like structure required in these mini suv. It's a matter of time. Tigers are smart it has made an assessment already. I'll tell you that. While hunting one might have noticed it changes its approach quickly so you understand what I mean. So don't wait for that D-Day. Eventually a tired or old tiger will climb and take away whatever it likes to
The records so far is straight. The tiger sees the jeep as one unit. There is an unwritten rule the tiger understands--that this jeep just keeps moving but does not interfere with them. The jeeps are driven by trained drivers and the trackers that compulsorily accompany them are experts in animal behaviour. Generally, it is expected that tourists are serious nature lovers and not wannabe, curious onlookers. If an untoward incident happens it is 99.9 per cent not the tiger's fault.
Mr. Chatterjee you just beat me to comment the same. Yes usually tourists are irritatingly vocal and loud at that. Perhaps the size and closeness together with the mood of the tiger lulled them into silence. But what about the background music? Needless and not in keeping with nature. Ambient sound will enhance suspense.
This thing they do in Tadoba, stopping the cars one by one & letting the animal pass, should be adopted elsewhere.
In other places they move along with the cat as it walks. As more vehicles gather, this block views & each other's as well as tiger's paths, people shout, mini traffic-jams happen, engine noise, burnt petrol...
Wonderful
Many thanks!
These people are pretty ballsy
