It’s a heartfelt portrayal of a nation steeped in history and natural beauty. Thank you for highlighting these timeless treasures and inspiring a deeper appreciation for our island home. ❤
First of all Great Documentary with some fine footage and narration. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Secondly we still build these reservoirs and canal systems while re-using the old ones so wild life will continue to prevail here.... Thirdly we have the biggest whales in the world swimming around the isle and lot of sea wild life too....
I would love to visit countries such as this. Where there are alot of people but so much respect for wildlife as well. One thing I wish The US had been better with. We killed off so many beautiful species. But we learn. To me it's about balance. Much respect
Beautiful documentary. But you missed one important ecoregion i.e. The lowland rainforests on the west side of the country. This ecoregion contains virgin rainforests that are thousands of years old. The focus of our ancient kings was to develop agriculture in the dry zone, but they never touched the montane and lowland rainforests. Western colonials (Portuguese, Dutch, and English) cut down most of these forests and turned the land into cash crop plantations like tea, rubber, and cinnamon.
Just think animals w here here long before humans and will be long after. But we can't survive without them. We have to respect nature n learn to live side by side or we will lose!!!
This is expected from an unplanned, unintentional, unintelligent, unguided, foresight-less, imperfect & amoral unconscious evolutionary creation process, but is *NOT* expected from a so-called perfect, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient & benevolent moral conscious creator with thoughtful intentions & an intelligent plan.
keep your religious views out of this. (and before you get on me, the other side should ALSO keep their views out of a NATURE DOCUMENTARY...which doesn't mean THEISM/ATHEISM Documentary).
Only African elephants have tusks on all elephants both male and female elephants. Indian elephants do have tusks but it's just the males and some of them don't have tusks
@Tom Morrison Knew this reply gonna get, this is what the Western mindset looks like, they think other cultures have to get their approval. The funny thing is I'm getting this from people who think putting down your pet dog is the most humane thing to do when it's old. Sri Lankan domesticated wild elephants thousands of years ago. Just like other civilizations domesticated horses, dogs and camels. so keep your nose out of other people's business
Idk if you realized but wild elephants near human settlements are extremely dangerous. The wild elephants in SL are known to destroy crops, and some have also tried to pursue vehicles because they're used to being fed when they cross the roads. Not to mention, people used them to fight in WARS in ancient times. If you're going to let an elephant anywhere near a human there has to be a mahout to keep them in check. That's just how things are. Also probably worth mentioning that SL elephants are the largest subspecies of Asian elephant :)
You need to watch your mouth. Sri lankans do their best to care for their animals in THEIR country they don't need foreigners like you telling them what to do.
One thing for sure I would love to see an episode like this but on Mackinac Island and the Channel Islands and Mackinac island is home to creatures like Rabbits, Chipmunks, Otters, Fox, Raccoon, grey and red squirrels, Bats, Eagles, Hawks, Toads, Songbirds, Lake Trout, Lake whitefish and yellow perch however during the winter larger mammals sometimes cross the ice to get from the mainland to the island and these larger mammals include White tailed deer, Coyote and bobcat and the Channel Islands of California are sort of like the Galápagos Islands in that some creatures can only be found on certain islands however there are land mammals in the Channel Islands and land creatures of the island’s include the island fox which is a descendant of the mainland grey fox but there is also the island spotted skunk, island deer mouse, western harvest mouse, Townsends big eared bat, island night lizard, island fence lizard, southern alligator lizard, western side blotched lizard, Channel Islands slender salamander, black bellied slender salamander, Baja California tree frog, Santa Cruz Island gopher snake, western yellow bellied racer, island scrub Jay, San Clemente loggerhead shrike, San Clemente bells sparrow, Arboreal salamander, Garden slender salamander, California red legged frog, american bullfrog, California king snake, San Bernardino ring necked snake, San Diego gopher snake, southern pacific rattlesnake, San Diego night snake, California mountain king snake, san Nicolas night lizard, skiltons skink and Adorned Shrew while in the sea there are California sea lion, Stellar sea lion, sea otter, Grey whale, Blue whale, Humpback whale, Northern pacific right whale, Harbor seal, Common dolphin, Riso dolphin, Pacific white sided dolphin, Bottlenose dolphin, orca, Fin whale, Northern elephant seal, northern fur seal, Guadeloupe fur seal, Garibaldi, giant black sea bass, California spiny lobster and sunflower starfish however there are also prehistoric creatures that used to roam the Channel Islands like the Pygmy mammoth, San Clemente berwicks wren and the giant deer mouse and their are even domesticated animals that roam the islands like the Santa Cruz sheep and the San Clemente island goat and their is even a herd of bison on the islands.
I hate it when people call my motherland a tear drop. It was always known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. It was very prosperous in ancient times and was given another name: Granary of the East, as our ancestors produced enough food for the entire region. What a shame it’s a tear drop now. 😢

It is high time to reintroduce tigers into the SL forests. They used to live there long time ago but became extinct there and the surviving leopards became the alpha predator there.
