Congratulations. I take my S2k to cars and coffee here in Monterey and my buddy brings his EF or EJ and we park next the the old schools or exotics. They are welcoming and thank us for bringing our cars out.

I wasn’t really worried about something like this until I actually started to plan and host events for Oldsols - it can be nerve racking because it’s your name on the line 😳

    Congratulations on the proposal.
I use to go to takeovers here in Houston when it was first starting. Over time it got out of hand. People would vandalize property. Stealing and destroying securtiy carts. Breaking into commercial trucks at the locations and stealing stuff. Basically making car people look like criminals. Not long ago i got pulled over on my way home from a honda meet for supposedly running a red light. I was very sure i stopped at the light the officer was talking about. No ticket was given. I got call shortly after that a friend also got pulled over for a fake reason as well with no ticket. And guess what. There was a mega meet(takeover meet) in our area taking place so basically they were targetting any modded cars in the area. I know that we know the difference between enthusiasts and someone who isn't. But police dont care and see us all the same.
With that being said I stand by people saying takeovers are ruining the car community cuz now its harder for chill meets to take place. Businesses see everyone as a takeover supporter. And if they dont, and they do let us have meets; takeover people come anyways and act like they dont know the difference between a takeover meet and a park and chill meet. I can even send you screenshots of messages from takeover people even planning to ruin chill meets. Honestly its just a bunch of wreckless kids with way too much testosterone wanting to be noticed like we give a fuck.

I'm hoping Takeovers die off soon. The Mopar guys are always ruining the meets that we put together. Luckily, the crew I'm with, Kindred Impulse, is pretty chill. We're the oldest car club in northeast Florida and we do everything by the book. We meet up twice a week, bring lawn chairs and just shoot the shit for a couple hours, grab food afterwards and then go home. We're throwing our first meet of the year on Nov. 14th here in Jacksonville. Should be pretty good turn out and it's a legit sanctioned event with judges and raffles etc. Hopefully it goes well and we can end the season on a good note before we go into prepping for next years shows.

Duval represent. Are you guys still meeting up at Beach Boulevard and A1A at the Sonic? I have not been back to that side of JAX for like 13 years since moving so names may have changed.

@@tenoki We meet at the Tinstletown theater on Southside on Monday nights. There's usually a meet at the Beach and St Johns Sonic on Saturdays but I rarely go because there are too many stupid people that go.

@@duval_ej6 Fair enough. Before I moved out of the state, there was a kid that total his *Dad's* new Mustang trying to drift and show how *kewl* he was. That was the last straw for me on Beach BLVD. Then I moved about 3 months later anyway. When I go back home to visit my Folks, I just never head that way since they lived on the West Side. Now they live in Middleburg so..
If I am ever out that way, I may stop by to check out what your group has going. There is not as much of a respectable car culture in my part of Washington unless you are into old American Muscle.

Lmfaoo damn it happened to us too. We have a group of Mopars in Maryland that come to chill meets just do burnouts and leave. It's funny but then it's not. It's got our meet shut down and it sucks.

Aye congratulations bro on the engagement dude. What is his channel the Camera Mafia? As for the topic here is my answer.
I use to go to takeovers because it was payback for cops for giving me tickets for no reason. Or to fight back at non-car people who when we would try to get rollers they would try and run us off the road. I got the same from a few people stating these are the same reasons why they go to takeovers as well. I don't go anymore due to a friend who was killed. But it didn't even happen by us it was by a non-car person just driving recklessly as they do. You are right a lot of people there are not car people most of them are just to show they were there for Instagram or RUclips "clout". Or they come to just to start fights. When I did go to takeovers I would film the cars just sitting too. Here in Maryland, we have a legal one but no one wants to go because you have to pay. Or they say because it's boring to sit in one spot. I'm like so you rather waste money on gas running from cops than going to one spot just to drift as long as you want. It's the point police are acting like jerks and car enthusiasts are sick of it and this is the only way to fight back. Yes, I know you can't fight fire with fire. Like, look at H20i the cops made it turn into what it is now. It's so much more I can say but just don't feel like typing it.

Take overs are not harming the community due to the fact that many people have stood up and corrected the news and forums and law enforcement that there’s a difference between the car scenes. Take overs are understood to be a different event from a cars and coffee and street drag and roll racing. The police task force knows what’s what and who’s who. We had a member get taken down and the cops spilled the beans on how much they knew about the team and the scene. It’s just a matter of what scene you choose to belong to.

To be honest, Take overs are the primitive rage that people have to show off, when i was a kid, a good car show atleast some idiot had to get knock out cold, you know, a perfect life is the one you did not play it safe, example, almost every famous guy we can remember in history or every other famous person that lived in there van to try to make themselves someone, so take overs are that risk we love to take!

I just want to now why the news keeps calling these Takeovers/ Sideshows Street Racing? All I see some guys doing donuts or trying to drift hitting other cars or people. I feel these guys cars are slow only just can do burn outs and can't beat my Civic. So they get mad start doing donuts every body seen that guy at Car meets.

Back in the 2000s, we would have meet ups at JAX Beach and everything was great, until someone decides that they want to rip on the street and then the monkey see monkey do starts happening and then the street racing happens and then the cops show up. Showing off your gear and the occasional sound test are fine as long as you are not disrupting someone's business. But don't tear up public property.
I have lost a few friends and acquaintances to street racing (by participating or being innocent bystanders). I decided early on, it just is not worth it. Take it to a track or at least a sparse rural road. Even now, when I go to meet ups, as soon as the kids start racing on the streets, I'm out. Even for RUclips videos. There have been some good channels that I have unsubscribed to due to blatant glorification of street racing on crowded public streets. At least take it to the highway but not on crowded over used main drags.
That is also a reason why I only do meetups where there is a significant population of older folks or people I know. We tend to shut the kids down quick when they start attracting the wrong attention.
