I'm a college freshman who is likely gonna be working as a SDE I intern next summer a few blocks away from where Amazon is in Seattle! Very cool to see the surrounding area and tech hub! Awesome to hear about your transition into CS!
Love getting a view of the life of being an SDE with Amazon. Been self taught programmer for years and currently trying to get into the ATA program to move into a career
Would you do a video on how became a software engineer? like what motivated you to become a software engineer, where you went to school, how you got into amazon, what resources did you use to learn, etc. I am currently trying to find my own career path in tech and I would like to hear about your journey
I recently purchased a Logitech MX Keys Mini for my home setup. I find it very comfortable and the size is perfect so that I can carry it to work with me with no problem! You should definitely give that a look! Love the vibe and the video 😊😊 Keep it up
Hi Jenn, fellow tech friend and small youtuber across the world in Sydney Australia! Just stumbled across your video and love your day in life - caffeine is my fuel too haha
As a programmer you probably know that Esc, PrtScn, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down via FN is a thing to watch out for. HyperX Alloy Origins, Logitech PRO X, Logitech G915, Razer Huntsman Mini, Ducky One 2 Mini, Ducky x Varmilo, Ducky Mecha Mini, Corsair K70 Pro Mini or the cheapest Microsoft one.
Great vlog! Some of my personal thoughts: 1. I was not informed about the free espresso, is it in Doppler? I feel scammed. 2. Design review anxiety hits different 3. Can you do a vlog about oncall? I feel like most people don't know about that aspect of being an SDE.
Thanks Tyler! Check out either Aemilia or Brazil for free ☕️ but I believe all office cafés are doing this promo! Also, yes for the oncall vlog. I’ll be oncall next month 👀
Just move from India. I SDE 3 at Amazon. Love how cheap it hear in Seattle. Got a Ferrari car new with Amazon salary. Crazy how I went from 3rd world india to such good country.
Seattle isn't cheap factually, and cars depreciate in value, so it's a bad finance decision to buy a highly expensive car that can get into a crash easily on your part. Your money isn't going to last if you keep making choices off of status symbols that portray insecurity.
Where are your tops and pants from?! imo it's hard finding outfits for my work that are both flattering and appropriate. This was such a motivating vlog :))
Sorry maybe irrelevant question. How you able to be in Amazon at age 20? I mean what roadmap you choose? I'll be very thankful if you make a video on that
If you're looking for really great mechanical keyboard or even ergonomic ones you can check out Epomaker but the only inconvenience is probablt the price :)
Hello. I'm curious what work hours are like for you... I see in your vid that you start work at around 9am... and I think finish around 7pm. So is your average work week around 45 hours? Also, do you end up also working after hours... ie after dinner? If your release schedule is like 3-4 weeks.. do you end up putting more hours near the end of your release too. I'm curious about work life balance at Amazon... I should read more into glassdoor/blind, but haven't had a chance. Thanks.
Hey I somehow found your RUclips channel, and I wonder if you could make a video introducing yourself and want to know more about what you did before working at Amazon? (such as what school and significance you attended and any great tips for the future software engineer) I am currently studying design in grad school in NYC, and I want to know the field of UI/UX if you know anything. Thx!
Hi there! Yes, I am planning on making a video about how I got into software engineering and my background. I don't know much about UX/UI but for any general software engineering tips, I'd be happy to dive deeper :) Hope your studies are going well!
as a swe myself I was wondering how often are you required to be in the office or you can go complete remote? im completely remote rn (working for nyc company) and I enjoy living in a lower cost of living place vs nyc lol, but once I get into big tech (hopefully!) I feel I will have to move :( and dear god we know how expensive manahttan is. that 4k rent tho.
Depends on the position. Most companies require you to be in the office for at least 3 days, unless you are hired as "remote". But the pay will be different.
yes, we review the docs in the meeting and it's usual almost everyone's first time reading it. I think even if we do send the doc ahead of time, it'll be hard to make sure everyone reads it lol
Hey! Love your videos! I would really appreciate your advice here. I'm finishing my BSc in Chemical Engineering this semester and I'm looking to transition into IT. I plan on doing an MSc in Engineering Management (and learn coding on my own) or a BProf (Bachelor of Profession) in Computer Science Operational Engineering (basically an easier and shorter Hungarian CS degree that has a one year long internship integrated into it). I'm afraid the BProf degree won't be recognised outside of Hungary so I might as well go for the other degree. On the other hand I'm afraid not having any sort of CS degree would be even worse. I would like to work in either Germany or Austria in the future. What's your take on this? Engineering Management MSc or CS BProf?
hi there! from what I've seen in the United States at least, the degree doesn't matter. I know people who were self taught engineers and those who never graduated from a university. I hope whatever you choose is the best path for you! Apologies I don't have a straight answer for this one. Anyway, thank you for your support. I also wanted to mention, I studied abroad in Hungary.. it's such a lovely place!!!
Hi, I was wondering if colleges actually matter? Meaning what college you go to? Like colleges with names? Sorry if this is rude/personal but do people get less money if you go to a college that doesn't have a good computer science program?
Hey... Christine, I have a big dream to be a software engineer. But i don’t have CSE degree. I learned computer programming since my first year graduation degree. I completed Indian philosophy studies programme. Besides i learned coding. Now, full time, i invest for coding practice and coding project. Is it possible for me to be a software engineer.....😍😍😍😍

Genuinely enjoyed this, probably the most comprehensive day in life video I’ve seen.
I love discovering these hidden gem channels before they get to 1M subscribers.

I'm glad you enjoyed this small glimpse of my life :) Best of luck with your software engineering journey!

Good luck! I'm trying to get into it as well.
Nice video! Just visited Seattle for an offsite. Very nice office, but was not ready for the perpetual rain lol

Nice one and awesome in a day in our life....
love the series!! best day in the life of a swe I've watched and actually enjoyed
so sweet, ty so much for the support!
The chill vibes in your videos are great!
Yow This is so chill. I love this video. Awesome Seattle.
The sunglasses is really cool!
Oh man, Seattle seems to me like the only American city I could live in. Thank you for the mini tour
I thought the same when I visited. The living situation and sense of community is so different
There's nothing particularly special about Seattle, most US cities have areas resembling what was shown in the video
Here are some recommendations:

- ZSA Moonlander
- Keychron K3

Apart from getting a keyboard you need to shift to vim, your right hand will appreciate it.

the keychron k3 is probably the best entry level, prebuilt custom mechanical keyboard you can buy (under $500)
