  • (use whatever weapon you like, so long as it can do decent DPS during each cone) Alot of people found the plunderblade farm really handy, but I know some people were having really bad RNG with Evil Eyes, so I worked hard to come up with and test a consistent way to farm them with 100% drop rates. This meant trying to find a way to consistently get two horn breaks, that even struggling players could use.
    Obviously this was quite a difficult task, but we eventually figured out a trick to get fatalis to use the cone move with relative frequency, which eventually lead to this video. You don't need to be good at the fight - staying at mid range puts you out of range for alot of the hard to dodge moves, and the rest you can just run away from
    I showed off a run with really bad cone RNG here, as it helps you understand 1) how to dodge and play this run and 2) that it works even if you don't get lucky. Despite the awful RNG, we finished the run in around 11 minutes. Part of that was from good roaming ballista usage, but a binder and not carting would make up for that anyway, and obviously better cone RNG makes it a shoe in
    So here you go. My 100% guaranteed and easy method to farm evil eyes. Between this and the plunderblade video, you should be able to farm all the parts you need. Make the fatalis set before even beating the special assignment, then take it out and best the event quest with ease. Let me know if you have any questions!
    (also ZSD spam is probably just as easy as this, but idk anything about saxe so this is good for those players like me. plus i heard zsd takes more like 15 mins for the second horn break, but idk how true that is)

    Spreadsheet info:
    I have a spreadsheet which collects all sorts of data on Monster Hunter World Iceborne that people ask about a lot - things like the materials needed to upgrade the best charms (e.g. handicraft, expert etc), a list of all the guiding land monster drops and gathering nodes (plus it's searchable), what materials you need for every possible augment (attack, affinity, defence, health, slot, element/status) in the game, etc:
    docs.google.co...
    It also includes things like a list of ALL the 4 slot decorations (including even the rare 12 ones which ONLY drop from sealed feystones) so you know the best deco's to aim for when farming. It even has detailed images for the guiding land gathering nodes (the one's that drop materials like the guiding dragonbones/crystals etc) which you need for custom weapon upgrades/augments!
    My list of guiding land drops can be sorted either by drop type (so it finds the monster to fight for a particular part) or you can use it to just find the parts belonging to any monster (no more pulling your hair out over how to get those Enchanting Finehide/Trancehide for your health augments!). This goes up to and includes the tempered elders (speaking of which, check out my 5 slot tempered investigation farming macro if you haven't already!)
    It also has a Safi'Jiiva relic checklist to easily monitor which awakened weapons you're missing from the new siege!
    Feel free to point people to this doc if you think they would find the information useful :D

    Honestly the fact that you showed this run in a worst-case, mistake-filled scenario makes me all the more motivated to try it out. I see so many guides using optimal builds in near-speedrun scenarios, talking about how "easy" strats are, so when I try to pull it off I just feel like I'm constantly messing up due to uncooperative AI or my lacking understanding of the strat. The fact that you included both uncooperative AI and risky, sub-optimal punishes is extremely encouraging.

    When the first fire nova ends grab the ballista binder and hop on the roaming ballista, don't fire any shots just ride it all the way to the left, get on the regular ballista and fire the binder and shoot Fatalis down when he looks at you, hop on the roaming ballista and fire right into its face, i usually get 80 shots in before Fatalis breaks free and i just wing it on trying to snipe his face with the rest.

    Thank you so much Cons for helping us defeat Fatalis. So the story goes like this: My wife and I refused to watch guides beforehand and wanted to fight the black dragon by, as it were, just hitting it until it falls. Our attempts on the first three days failed miserably. Compared to every monster all the way up to Alatreon that we learned to fight pretty quickly, Fatalis felt like an impossible fight. We did notice, though, that we’re getting some mats even as we fail, so I thought maybe we should somehow make his armors first. To that end I watched your guides, and the funny thing is, although they were intended to teach us how to farm for his mats without clearing the quest, they made us realize one crucial fact about the Fatalis fight in general-that there’s no future without breaking his head and reducing his health without breaking the head simply accelerates our eventual demise in the final phase. Funny thing is, although we changed our tactics to hitting only his head until we broke his head twice without even caring about clearing the quest within the time limit, it was through the more careful engagement where we in fact tried to hit him waaay less frequently that we managed to kill him. Trying to break his head, it turned out, was literally the way to kill him, not to mention that after making the full armor set there’s literally no reason to kill him without getting the eye. So, thank you again 🥰

      Educate me as I am a dummy BUT...I see you're using Alatreon GS. I'm not a GS player but I have crafted a few just because I had so many mats. I have the Alatreon and Raging Brachydios. Which would be better? I also have Fatalis Hammer which hits very hard but I'm not a hammer player either lol. You mentioned "Frostcraft". What exactly is that? And what about using Fatalis armor. You would be able to slot the skills you have listed plus maybe more attack, agitator, blast or dragon damage, depending on your weapon of choice. I don't have the Velkhana armor but can craft if needed. What is your advice? As a disclaimer I have killed him once in a duo (we had 13 seconds left lol) but I want to solo him and as an LBG main, horn breaks are damn near impossible, even with Sticky, his head is too hard to hit unless he's doing the cone. I have his LBG (it's better than Aquashot) because of the sleep AND para. And poison just for extra damage. What about using Sticky instead of the GS when he goes in cone mode. Would that be viable? Sorry for long post lol

      Anndgrim I feel ya, there's just some attacks that get people more than others. With me it's the flame wave he does while standing, I literally walk between his attacks without getting hit but once he does the standing flame wave that starts right underneath him I will almost always quickly dash right into it the moment I see it. Seriously, I rush right into it when it happens, literally like a moth to a flame lol.
      There's a sweet spot you can stay in most of the time, it's good enough to where you can walk(and jog) skirt around the edges to avoid them and the flame wave I think you're talking about it one of the easier ones to avoid if you're in or near that position(basically where you see Cons standing) so you won't have to worry about i-frames when you pull it off. Once you you learn his tell for that attack it'll turn into a guaranteed hit or clutch attack. Trust me, it won't take you long at all if you devote just one hunt to simply avoiding him/trial and error, wearing the Temporal Mantle while doing this also helps a ton with this as well.

    This is to try and help folks out with baiting cones, I'm not yet convinced this isn't pure RNG but once I've started doing this tactic it has helped me reliably get that 2nd break which I needed because I don't have the best decos for a GS Draw build(even with the fully upgraded Fatalis GS I'm still just getting maybe 600 for the first charged Slash). So, what I've been doing, which seems to help with baiting cones, is to learn his attacks(which I promise you is easy once you concentrate on learning them) enough to where you don't have to sprint away from his attacks - like you see Cons doing here, his positioning, try to stand still at that position AFTER his attacks(and before his attack ends which is comfortably possible). For me he seems to favor using that cone attack as a reaction(such as being a certain distance away and not moving which to 95% of players that are fighting him to beat him and not farm him, is usually when players are either stunned or have been hit by his last fireball attack(when he chains it, the "SUPRISE DIPSHIT" ones he shoots out hasn't ended with a cone too often for me, thankfully because they still surprise me). Standing still before he begins his new attack seems to replicate this condition(if it is a condition he favors).
    Also for those who are like me and don't have decent GS skills to equip, it's possible to hit him with a level 2 charge(with a 2 charge, 3 charges only if you are able to get in position early, like before he starts to spew out fire) during his cones do a tackle after the very first charge of your level 1, once you start your level 2 unleash it once it hits it's 2nd charge, with this I was able to raise my damage by 100-200 more including the +100 my tackle does.
    Another one you can punish(which, imo, allows you to also bring your Palico+Plunderblade to very slightly raise your chances of an Evil Eye because he does this ALOT when your Palico is with you) after getting familiar with his attacks is when he does his backwards flamewave, you just stand in from of his torso, slightly, imagine where his head is going to be(which can be tough at first because he's so damn wiggly) and pull a charged slash. This is almost a guaranteed hit when you do a 1-2 charged hit but with practice it can be a reliable 3 charged hit.
    There's a couple others but the ones I listed have been what helped me the most after adopting Cons strategy which, to anyone who hasn't tried it yet, works really damn well. I hadn't gotten a single head break after like 40 damn tries, now I've got his full Beta Gear(also an Alpha Waist because that damn Beta tail doesn't compliment the armor one bit, especially when you're running with a Mantle on), a fully upgraded GS, IG, the base SA, CB, and my Palico is now a baby Fatalis(though I'm missing the weapon, Evil Eyes are still too valuable for me to spend on it yet). I think I could comfortably beat him now but I'm still farming him, he's still not a fight that I want to become a limited event like Shara or Xeno.
    Edit: Sorry for the less descriptive charge names, the one I know is the true charged slash, that 2nd strategy I call a "Level 2 Charge" is the one before the true charged slash.
    Edit 2#: Where do people get all these damn decos? The Melder?

  • @bringerchaos4142
    @bringerchaos4142 4 года назад +10

    If anyone is interested in using this build with the Fatalis GS then swap the waist for the Fatalis A+ and the arms with Velkhana B+ augment the GS for 2 Affinity then add decos to get
    Health Boost 3
    Crit Boost 3
    Focus 3
    Partbreaker 3
    Crit Draw 3
    Quick Sheath 3
    Divine Blessing 3
    Tool Specialist 3
    Crit Eye 3
    Coalecence 1
    Mantels for me are
    Rocksteady with 2 Heavy Artillery
    Glider with Hard Fire Res and Heavy Artillery + (Glider is very good cause when you clutch claw and spin him 3 times then drop down you can give him a extra hit to his head that does over 500 damage)
    Charm
    Use what ever you want I personally like the Mud Puppy one cause it makes it easier to superman dive (it would be so nice if the leap of faith skill had a jewel)
    This build is comfy and works for me but you may want to add more attack

    Tip for Gunlancers, try to use Wyrmstake Cannon to punish the Cone. You have to make sure your Gunlance is reloaded before he even begins the Cone, before you even try to bait the Cone give yourself a Reload if you need it, and then when he cones, Shell Shell Wyrmstake Cannon.
    This is the best damaging punisher for Gunlance against Fatalis's Cone. The Slam Sweep combo is less damage than Wyrmstake, and you do NOT have enough time to Wyrmstake before he pulls back. However, if you arrive at the cone late for some reason, then DON'T try to Wyrmstake if you don't have enough time. *Then* you would want to use Rising > Slam > Sweep since it comes out a bit faster and you can jump out sooner

Not sure if my luck will be as smooth as this, but still, I'm willing to give it a shot since I got little other options other than just killing the thing (something to which I've only done twice. Once by using Zero Sum Discharge cheese and the other with a group that somehow didn't manage to fallover dead).
    Thanks for the build Cons.

    EDIT: The key to baiting cones is that Fatalis only does them when he's standing/not on all fours. Recommend NOT enraging him to keep him standing a lot. Con's updated video made things much clearer. Now I'm baiting cones left and right. Thanks a bunch man.
    Fair warning: this method is still highly RNG dependent. The cone attacks are just too inconsistent, regardless of how I position myself as close as instructed. Out of eight runs, only one had Fatty doing more than 5 cone attacks. One run had me trying to bait a cone attack for *ten* minutes.
    Props to the video nontheless; it's an efficient method for those who can find the rhythym.

    For GS users, you can also use a mount strategy (1 mount per run) using the charm which allows you to mount easier and down mounted monsters. Once Fatalis goes down from the mount, you will have enough time to go for level 3 charged attacks on the head up to TCS if you have Focus 3 on the build. After Fatalis gets up, farcaster to camp and change back to the set that you typically use for the hunt. I find that mounting him without that charm is harder and I sometimes run out of stamina because he keeps moving around when you mount him which forces you to brace a lot. With the charm, it only takes a few attacks and then he'll go down.

    I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but I found something interesting with the AI. When you climb the rope up to the cannons in the stage, it forces fatalis to become in an upright hind legs position. I found that when he’s in that position, he cones a lot more frequently along with him being enraged. Another thing you can do is after doing the three charge slash you can dodge backwards and stand still, and fatalis will be in the perfect position for more frequent cones (just be careful of any other moves he might do instead).

    I'm definitely going to have to try this out. I love using GS for this fight and with my current build, I get the second head break in about 15 minutes but I also hit the chest and stuff so it could be better. I play every weapon in the game, mostly GS tho, but that means I have get so many eyes, I'm only missing the alpha chestpiece and 10 more weapons so I think 22 in total?
    One quick thing and I have no clue if farcasting would make the run better, but apparently Partbreaker doesn't contribute towards the second head break threshold for whatever reason. This isn't confirmed but based on the testing that the Monsterhuntermeta and Monsterhunterworld subreddits did, it seems to be the case. And for anyone who doesn't like this strategy, you can wait a week and see if AT Velkhana armor makes it any better for you. She comes out on the 16th, which usually means the 15th for us.

    Thanks! Question:
    In the middle of the video you said that there is no need for tenderize because of crit draw. Does this mean that generally I shouldn’t care that much about tenderizing the head with any build during a normal fatalis run?

    • @ConsOA
      @ConsOA  4 года назад +1

      it depends on a few things. Softening gives two benefits - it raises the hitzone of a part (so basically extra damage) and lets the tenderiser skill give an additional 20% affinity. The extra damage component gives less bonus damage on parts that are already good targets (e.g. it makes a big difference on fatalis legs, a medium difference on the chest, and very little on the head)
      Because im focussing the head, the bonus damage gained is very little. And because I'm not running the tenderise skill on this build for affinity (i use crit draw instead), i also gain no bonus on that front. So basically, because of my playstyle and build, I dont need to soften the head
      of course, this varies from build to build, so it depends on what exactly you're using, and what parts of fatalis you plan on mostly hitting

Is not even a matter of gitting gud, I'm either staying at a wrong distance in a matter of literal steps or I'm the unluckiest fckr on this planet, because I trigger his cone like once every two mins, while spamming every other attack, making me cart in the long run (velk armor is not exactly optimal, defense-wise, against Fatalis).
    And this is getting really frustrating.

      make sure youre following the relevant tips in the pinned comment, and yeah as shown above, baiting the cone is still largely RNG. • @ConsOA
      @ConsOA  Год назад

      every weapon in this game plays so differently, your best bet is *usually* whichever weapon you're best with. Personally though, I found GS and IG the easiest and most consistent.
      I have a guide up for most weapons, my advice would to be to watch the one for your fave weapon class and try and learn from it.
      Best gear would vary a ton from weapon to weapon. Just get a nice dps set (you can plunderblade farm fatalis itself even, which is usually optimal if you have a good bunch of decorations) and then swap out dps skills for defensive ones as you need them. Fortify is nice, heavy artillery is great, HB3 is essential, etc.
      Good luck!

    Late reply but as I just started doing Fatalis (and yes, I've not reached MR 100 so I don't have Ruiner or guiding lands really leveled), is Safi a good greatsword for this setup? I was thinking the Blast greatsword possibly.
    edit: I know I'm doing this WAY earlier then I should be, but I did get the wingbreaks and plunderblade parts enough for the two piece fatalis already so I'm curious if that one is a good option to slot in as I don't really have any top level greatswords (I typically did LBG and dual blades for rest of game).
    edit2: I also understand entirely that no matter what I do, it won't match this build you are using here, but I'm using it as a leaping off point. The other video about wingbreaks I used to get the first two pieces and it worked pretty well, so this is a dabbling I'm doing. You do great guides!

    • @ConsOA
      @ConsOA  3 года назад

      dont worry about it, it's a pain to grind mr so i understand doing things early, and I'm glad you acknowledge that you won't be able to match this build, but that's fine, itll just take a little longer
      safi blast should work fine, and you can even get velk essence on it and run two piece fatalis if you think that could make the set better (no clue if it could), but otherwise just run as good a safi gs as you can. Otherwise, lightbreak GS (from raging brachy) is also great, probably better than the alatreon GS, but you might not have that done yet idk.
      also im glad my other guide helped, hopefully you can make this one work too. Be sure to watch my vid on baiting cones (check the pinned comment on this video) if you struggle with that aspect, and dont forget to run partbreaker 3
