Steel Series Arctis Nova 7 VS Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Detailed Headset Comparison

- The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 and Steel Series Arctis Nova 7 are two absolutely iconic headsets. This video was one of the hardest decisions I've made because these two headsets are really great. However both headsets have glaring flaws that hold them back. I had to make a decision and not lay down a tie.

Wow, the Blackshark microphone does sound much clearer than the Nova.
Thankyou, great video.
Still need to look at the other top contenders before I spend silly-money on a great headset.
nice review man, I just switched from my arctis 7 2019 to blackshark v2 pro 2023, was wondering if I should have switched to nova instead. I'm glad I didn't.
I don't think you made a bad choice I think that overall the blacksharks are a better headset I just personally like the nova 7 sound a bit better and think the price is a bit more reasonable
ok i am 0:24s into the video, and you hit the nail - i am currently wearing creaky nova 7, and i started to look for other headphones because of that
7:30 coming from dt770 i really enjoyed nova 7 sound, and found the amount of bass just perfect, not too muddy, not too shallow, but for gaming i really enjoy those big low freq explosions, had one pair of cheap 50$ headphones that were unpleasatly muddy in music, but turned these call of duty gunshots to another level, cant wait for blacksharks to arrive
Please update for the blackshark impression.
Have you tried the BS v2 pro 2023 yet?
so as someone that has trouble choosing between the two, your winner is?
Steel series nova 7. Better sound, better software and better bt latency.
thanks for the video, hopefully my comments will boost this video a tiny bit
Thanks! Yea the engagement pushes the videos in the Almighty algorithm so thank you 😁😁
I had nova 7 for 2 weeks and sold it, the sound is not good (muffled) vs a normal wired headphone from sennheisser, and based on your video it sounds more or less the same with blackshark, how about maxwell?
Haven't used the Maxwell but from the research I've done there probably way better
Im the only person that found the blackshark uncomfortable ps i wear glasses🤓 plus the sound was inconsistent at times for me and the build of the headset can differ when i got the v2 the lil wires connecting the headset was stretched so much they snapped so big heads beware 😂
I'll be honest my biggest concern has always been those wires breaking. I mention it in my og Blackshark v2 wired video but should of mentioned it again I. The more recent videos. Same with the g pro x the wire just doesn't feel like it'll last a long time.
Thank you for the great review. Im thinking of getting the razers for my ps5. I want the eq setting for fortnite. Does the eq button on the right ear cycle thru all the game eq settings too? Or just the movie and music presets? Thank You!!
It cycles between movie music game and personal
Ok, Thank You so much for the reply! I was really hoping it would cycle thru those esports eq settings. Im guessing those are only for pc?
Now that i think about it. I hope i can go into synapse and copy the fortnite settings into the custom 4th setting. I hope whatever i set the custom to will work for ps5. Thank You!!, most likely gonna buy this now. It was either this or thelogitech g pro x2.
Little late but the 2023 Blackshark V2 Pro does have 5 Esport EQ settings available. Just have to hold the EQ button on the right a few seconds and it will cycle through them. There is a COD, Apex Legends, Valorant, CS:GO and Fortnite setting
I just get myself a Razer Blackshark v2 pro 2023 after watching multiple reviews, including this video. It is meant to replace my sony wh-1000xm3 + boom mic.
For overall playing game experience, its good, i am happy for going to wireless headphone and the microphone sound so good.
The pinpoint location on CS2 is better than the XM3, BUT for what i hear and experience, i feel the Blackshark V2 pro 2023 sound is considered thin compared to the XM3. I do not know why all the reviewers say that tha bass is overwhelmed on it, but for me, its lack of it, i cant say which part of the bass because i am not expert, but when A/B-ing with the XM3, I really feel that the XM3 sound does have more body, and the v2pro2023 feels so thin.
But overall I still can appreciate this headset for my gaming in CS2.
I can try to explain why we all say the bass is heavy.
The xm3 are already a VERY thick and bassy sound with slight raise to the upper treble.
The Blackshark are more controlled compared to the xm3, however if you compare them to a flat sounding headphone you will have a less thick midrange with a punchy low bass region and very clear and sparkly high end but everything will feel equal.
The Blackshark push up the low end and midrange and have a thicker sound compared to a studio headphone or audiophile headphones which can also in turn lose resolution. You came from a already heavy bass sounding headphone so to your ears it's coming off thin but in reality the bass to most ears is also still very thick. However all that aside it's ok to prefer a thicker bass sound in your headphones it's all preferences.
Thank you, both of you. That information is most helpful. I am in a similar boat.
Hate my blackshark, second pair I’m on and the sound is horrible. Makes a crackling sound and one ear piece works intermittently.. looking at the artics but now not sure what I should be looking at.
So my arctia actually died recently stopped outputting correctly I was getting distortion in both earcups had them for under a year. I do still think there a great headset but I'm not sure about long term.
Should i get the Nova 7 which is $140 or should i go for the older black sharks v2 pros 2020 $120????
I've honestly never touched the original V2 pros however I think with the new sonar software and sound quality I can't help want to recommend the nova 7
I've been fiddling with settings for hours and downloading all sorts of third party programs and restarting my PC in an ultimately futile attempt to get the Arctis Pro to not sound like muddy garbage. Very happy with my 250$ upgrade over my 4 year old 100$ Razer headset that I bought on a whim. Big thanks to every moron who was paid to say good things about Steelseries who convinced me to ask for this for Christmas.
i havent tried the nova pro this is the nova 7 which sounds WAY different from what ive heard. also download sonar for the nova and eq out the bass. also ive not been paid for a single video ive ever made by any compony even tho i dont do tech reviews anymore i refuse to talk about a product i dont like.
Which is better for music?
Steel series if you want clarity and separation in the instruments and don't mind less bass but black sharks if you want bass with a bit less clarity and decent separation.
Yooo dude nice vid
Thanks! 💯
sounds like that cause you have the crappy spatial setting on lol....-
I never use that stuff. Fake spatial audio destroys the audio quality.
Good review, I personally decided to go with the Blackshark V2 Pro’s!
Great choice I think you'll be happy tbh!
How is the headset black shark v2 pro 2023 edition going? Do you any specific problems?
Did you have the opportunity to try the Arctic nova pro wireless ? It's the one with swappable batteries.
How would you compare it to the black shark ? My old black shark battery doesn't last that long anymore and I need to do a refresh ... But very hard to chose
Sadly I have not had the chance to try the nova pro as much as I wanted to.
Do you think the 2020 is also good for only 80€? (New)
Absolutely
Pretty much nailed it spot on with the nova 7. I got mine specifically for the mid/high ranges the headphones were built for to run games like Destiny. I can hear every tiny explosion in full clarity against a whole barrage. On the contrary, because it can handle all those sounds at once, you’ll be hearing them all at once lol.
Very immersive audio, and once you have the fit dialed in, they sit really well. The ear cuff enclosure could be more sturdy since you can hear the speaker foam crunching from the slightest bump but they definitely do not feel like cheap material overall. Retractable mic is a solid plus and the game/chat mixer is really neat feature. Sonar kinda sucks to use tho, I wish the software were better and I didn’t even know how drastically different the mic quality between the two is until now.
4:24 Is it like the 9/9x where you just tap power button once while on & get a preset number beep to cycle? I have 2 9x headsets for wireless. And a blackshark v2 wired usb version hooked into a nova pro dac for wired. I have a nova 7x coming. I like the headsets and setup I have, just want another headset lol. I just put a new battery in one of my 9x headsets. I like that on the nova 7, you have the option to fully use it wired. On my 9x, the mic is disabled running wired. I use wicked cushions freeze pads on all mine.
Hello, what would you prefer between the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7's or the HyperX Cloud 3 wireless? I play on console and mostly play Call of Duty, Destiny, Fortnite, Minecraft.
Arctia nova 7 all the way
@@IAmVehement Thank you for the reply! Keep up the great work!
@@plasticziptie no problem. I just think the nova 7 does everything better then the clouds do and don't have a too overwhelming bass region effecting your ability to be competitive with footsteps and directional awareness. They do have a bit extra bass it's just cleaner bass. But directional audio and soundstage on nova 7 is just so much better.
@@IAmVehement do you have any recommendations as far as EQ settings go for the steelseries Nova 7’s I do have a pair recently bought and I’ve been having a hard time trying to get a nice clean bass sound without affecting the other frequencies I’m trying to dial it in on the engine side of the app cause I play on console
I'm honestly not the guy to ask. I don't eq my headphones because I prefer to stick with what the developers of the product want. I also suck at eq I know how and I know what's supposed to work but I just never get a great result
Nice video dude. Now the same please with the Inzone H9 from Sony vs. Pro X2 Lightspeed from Logitech G. I am waiting for it! I let you a thumbs up for this video.
Blackshark V2 Pro Microphone is AMAZING. I think only the Astro A50 microphone beats it in the wireless headset class.
Those both have insane mics I don't think it's ok to have steel series out here with 350 pro headset and have such a trash mic (it's my main so I know it's really bad)
5:40 i am looking for a headset that will get me through all of my work meetings during the day, and gaming sessions at night - mic quality of blackshark is really exceptional, especially compared to the dogshit logitech serves at even higher price point
I think that the Blackshark will be a good pairing for you. If your looking for deep lows for gaming these are great and they have really good range from high highs to low lows and pretty decent detail. And the mic is really impressive especially after how bad the og Blackshark v2 is. Hope you enjoy the headset!
With the black sharks can you use the audio presets to remove bass? because I would like if was geared more to a fps style.
With synapse you could def use an EQ present or do your own eq curve
2:43 lack of clamping!! yes, exactly - i had the same issue, i couldnt write properly on desk because novas would fell off easily
Yes they are annoyingly loose for sure!
I really am enjoying my arctis Nova 7 mic could be better but find them extremely comfortable and great sound if u turn off the volume limiter through the computer they're loud! And love the simultaneous Bluetooth
I loved mine as well sadly I lost my dongle to them RIP. I used them when gaming on my laptop a lot.
Aw damn that sucks! Gotta be careful with those tiny ahh thing's! Lmao@@IAmVehement
Name headsets are better than the blackshark v2 pro 2023 for ps5
I'm not sure what your asking.
Nice review, BUT you have to put just 1-2 consecutive seconds without talking.
Edit is so annoying
Like bigger gaps between statements?
@@IAmVehement i think yes. Maybe it's just me, but I find it annoying on many videos around the web.
Keep up man ✌️
I appreciate the feedback and I can agree with my editing style during these reviews. My more recent style does try to let stuff breath more but I still have a habit of hyper edits I call em.
