- Today we took the GTX on is first off-road journey. It was a quick one just to try it out, but there were a couple fun spots to get it sideways and blast around a bit. This is going to be a fun little car once we get some time in it. Plus I have no idea what I am doing on the dirt. But its bound to lend to some fun times soon! Can't wait for snow! AND THE diff lock to magically fix itself...
You've actually got me keeping an eye out for a 323 GTX of my own. Looks like a blast to drive.
1980's japanese cars were built to handle gravel road abuse you can go full speed and throw them around and they don't care, can't do that with newer cars you'll break something

Ay Chelsea! I constantly hunt youtube for Mazda 323 GTX vids and it's always fantastic when I find one like yours. It gives me hope that the 323 is still being appreciated in the world! I just bought an 89 323 in impeccable condition. It's an SE (not a GTX) but I'm really trying to find a scrappy GTX for these kind of shenanigans.
My first car and absolutely loved it!!! Would take it to the back roads and go racing it..yeah!!!

These were very VERY popular in the mid 90s to early Y2K in New Zealand ( Mazda Nz mass assembled these so they flooded the market alongside the Ford Laser - their bodyparts were nearly swapable ) the most popular was this awd hatch and the awd wagon. These have become a rarity to see on the Roads in turbo or non-turbo/fwd or awd in Nz or Australia today BUT if you do see them?..they have been highly modified and probably now Trailer Queens.

Oregon Gang
Grind inside around hole smooth till the ridges are gone. Apply sealant and let it dry. Place patch on and use a roller to smooth out patch and get rid of any bubbles underneath. Done.
Yea its good now. I dont normally repair tires, but I dont have any spares for this car.
No problem as long as it holds air lol
Light the sealant on fire so you don’t gotta wait to dry! Get you back on the road in 5 mins.

hate to be a safety dick, and maybe you've considered this and have a system...but if you're gunna blast it like that around corners you should consider get another buddy and some cheap radios....you have more fun drifting when you're 100% confident you won't have any head-on traffic!
Dude I want that car. I have a 91 clone that's only front wheel drive with a turboed 1.8. I need all-wheel drive for my new build.

Once you've driven on a flat tire so the sidewall is frayed and you have those small rubber pellets inside it's a sign of sidewall separation, the layers in the sidewall have started to delaminate and it'll break. So stay careful in that thing if you go highway driving man

At 2:54 you should ditch those garden variety hose clamps that will undo itself from vibration, heat cycle etc. Those clamps don’t belong in any car be it production, rally or race car. Use the much-proven factory OE/OEM style hose clamps instead.

Another thing, install the clamp band shoulder edge butt against the hose flange bead, this way it’ll provide a positive seal.

Do some rally notes and then maximum attack whichever route you find with your bud. Those "3 over crest 200 into 4" routines . Team o'neil rally school channel shows the basics . Also if the e46 is working , im sure you'd do the best man line at hoonigans place. Just some suggestions.. will always keep watching

Thanks again for posting the video, fun times, love Oregon...my little sister used to have a car like this (1988 Mazda 323 GTX ) and she got rid of it years ago when she moved out of my folks house. Really cool car, sad to see it go. I've still got a spare full dashboard with digital option instrument cluster (one of the first ever electronic readouts in a consumer car, I think?) from that car which can be seen in my profile photo. I'm going to be putting it up for sale at some point, and I also have a number of other spare parts for the same model car. Is anyone out there interested in taking this stuff?
