I have a white 981s with 30000 miles.i don’t drive it that often because I’m an old retiree. But when I take it out for a ride, I tried to drive like hell!

Here in Germany, an almost fully equipped Cayman GTS 4.0 costs 116 k€; the equivalent from the 911 series costs around 60 k€ more. This also shows how absurdly expensive the 911 has become - you are actually paying almost exclusively for the myth and the reputation of the 911. So everyone has to decide for themselves what to buy - the true enthusiasts will probably buy the Cayman.

    • @franksaladino
      @franksaladino  6 месяцев назад +3

The cayman is definitely calling my name!! The prices are definitely nuts and ontop of that, the depreciation percent for the 911 and cayman is super low so it takes a while for them to become truly affordable sports cars!

I gave a like and I subscribed as soon as I heard you say “you plan and WILL have that car one day”. I love the motivation and love towards a Porsche. I totally understand. I have a 957 cayenne because it’s a Porsche I could afford. But one day, I too, will have this car. Good luck!

I took delivery of my 2024 Cayman GTS 4.0 just a month ago. I ordered (deep) Carmine Red over Cognac full leather for the “Ferrari look.” And I got the 6-speed. Absolutely love it; a worthy goal for you. 1300 miles so far; 700 to go until I can explore the fun part of the tach over 4K. This is a keeper, the last ICE manual before the Cayman goes EV, so I’m breaking it in properly. I’m amazed that you found a GTS in stock at a dealer. I was on a long waiting list for an allocation, then another 6 months since ordering.

Yes, I was on the wait list from Jan ‘22 to Nov ‘23. I wanted to be sure I got the last ICE model, so waiting thru those last few months without hearing anything was agonizing. I wasn’t even going to say yes to an EV allocation. 😒
My car’s ship just passed thru the English Channel 2 days ago. Can’t wait!
Thx for the tip on how many miles to drive before opening things up!

Great video 🤓!!! Last February 2023, I acquired my new 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 which has the 4L NA flat six cylinder engine (same unit as a GT4) and a PDK gearbox. Power output (394 bhp) and torque (317 lb-ft) are a nice match to this car's sensible curb weight (~3200 lbs). The color is Gentian Blue metallic with a black/chalk all-leather interior and silver wheel rims. It's definitely an entertaining driver's car!
So far, I've only done 326 miles but hopefully a lot more this coming Summer! The PDK is also a lot of fun (it's definitely quick) 🤓
All the best and thanks again from Colorado!

My ‘24 is arriving in the port of Baltimore in two weeks! The only thing I have been stressed about is whether my choice of the PDK was the right choice. RUclips driver/reviewers say that the manual will retain greater value than the PDK over time, but the sales associate who helped me with my build says they are dead wrong, based on his experience with literally hundreds of Porsche resales. He says it’s just the opposite. You obviously seem pleased with your PDK, so that’s a confidence-builder for me as well.

      @@ravensfan1825
First, congratulations on the anticipated arrival in Baltimore of your new 2024 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS4.0!!! Second, rest assured, expected resale values of the GTS4.0 will remain strong (whether manual or PDK)!
As background, it turns out, I have owned a few P-Cars during my Porsche journey. Three manual transmission cars and two equipped with a PDK. A manual transmission is certainly engaging (with the third pedal) but offers less torque and 0-60mph performance numbers. Also, the PDK will never require a clutch pack replacement (unless it is brutally thrashed around) and is better suited for track/autocross events ...
One main reason any well-maintained GTS4.0 will retain high collector value, down the road (no pun intended 😄 ), is due to its great naturally aspirated 4L engine 😎!
Cheers to many smiles per mile!!!

Thank you! While I do love convertibles and having that ability, I personally don’t like the soft top design. With what I have in my head visually for modifications, I don’t think it would work unless I just went for the cayman

Unlikely, but hopefully dealer disclosed that the car was taken out for a car review. Having owned multiple Porsche’s, including 718 Spyder, I would be annoyed if I found out that this happened to the new car I just bought. But to each his own.

U kind of have no idea what u r doing. It's not a standard interior at all. The GTS interior pac essentially adds 5k to the price.18 wau adjustable seats and Burmeister sound system is anything but standard. Do better. FWIW, I took delivery of my 2024 GTS 4.0 6sp in December. Waited a year for delivery. Seriously, you should study a little more.
