LOVE this gas content, Kyle. I've owned two Model S in the past but there is nothing new with them. I recently bought a Panamera and I'm really liking it. Porsche builds really good cars. In my opinion, a cheap EV for daily boring driving and a Porsche for road tripping and weekends sounds good.

This is the video I’ve been waiting for! ICE and EVs both have their strengths, so why not enjoy the best of each? I recently got my new Cayman GTS 4.0 in a manual, because all of the good manual cars are in their final generation now. For me, the GTS is the sweet spot: not as harsh or low as the GT4 (and no wing blocking the rear view), and not as large as the 992 911s (and better balanced). At 6’1” I fit fine, even with my helmet on. The frunk holds 2 roller bags and the back holds 2 backpacks, enough for road trips in my future.
For the second of my 2 car solution, I want something smaller and lighter than a Lucid or EV6 GT, and not a tall SUV. On my radar for a small and premium EV daily: Volvo EX30, BMW Neue Klasse (likely called i3) and Rivian R3. My garage awaits! I’ll be watching for your reviews.

BOUGHT my 2007 987 S in 2010 at Brumos Jacksonville w 42k on the odo. Got the Driver ED with Hurley Haywood... AWESOME! Headers, gt3 manifold, lightweight flywheel, flash the chip 365 HP... Bilstein R9 shocks... Adjustable machined aluminum short throw shifter... At current 492,000 miles on the odo... Engine still original and never opened up... Best car I've ever owned... Have had 4 prior Porsches. Electric cars are perhaps except in California inconvenient at best re range limits extended charging times... Yes they're fast... In a straight line... Probably for most drivers...TOO FAST! A pdk is quicker as well... But on a track really only in the hands of a trained driver. I could care less. As you mentioned... It's the actual engagement WITH an analog car... Perfectly balanced, perfect pedal placement for heel toe... Such cars are not a video game. A stock Tesla cannot match the handling, braking etc of a purpose designed sports car. If someone wants efficiency WITHOUT the INCONVENIENCE of a Tesla (I have observed Tesla drivers SCREAMING at their cars)😮 A Prius will do the trick 60mpg. THANKS 😊NICE VIDEO. GTS on my list! These are strange times -- and yes, I'm happy to see that this -- and others like it -- still exist. EVs are fun too, but something is lost in the "gain". It's like when CDs started replacing LPs. With LPs, the listener was more "one with the music" -- Discwashing the LP, placing the needle on the record and sitting back to listen -- then flipping the LP at the halfway point to listen to the "flip-side"! CDs were easier and more mobile (Car CD players), but stil something was lost with the "gain". And yes, I'm old -- college in the late '70's!

Misha did a ring run with this intake in a gt4 recently. it is compatible with gt4 and gts 4.0 engines. lastly don’t forget about deman 4.5 upgrade. I have had a gts4.0 for a few years now and I am completely in love.

One of these days, I'll get myself a 718 GTS 4L lol....oh, but they do offer different ring gears to shorten up a few of the gears (I think it's tightening 2-5) which drastically improves the whole 718 experience, they offer the shorter gears for the manual and the PDK, then all you need is an exhaust and a Numeric shifter, possibly some wheels and grippier tires, and she's perfect. 👌

Funny this comes up now. As someone who owns an EV, I recently started thinking about how I miss having a car with a manual transmission. I regret selling some of my previous cars. I think the perfect balance is to have one of each with the EV being the more daily driver. Eventually, I would prefer to have a gasoline car with manual transmission as a second car that I can take out just for fun.

I feel the same way in the truck space, if the EV works for you great, but leave those that want the ICE alone. As oil costs get driven up, buyers will make their own decisions, but we don't need to be banning anything or making authoritarian pushes through EPA policies.

As if everyone has the means to buy an over priced EV that's practically worthless once it leaves the showroom, and an extreme sports car that's actually fun to drive. A lot of car dealers are not taking electric cars in part exchange because they cant sell them, even Porsche don't want Taycan's back because they've got an overstock of unsold inventory and are offering pitifully low valuations. Manufacturers are making EV's because they have to, not because they want to, the majority of people are not buying electric cars and that's going to be a problem for the car makers. The only way Porsche are going to sell significant numbers of an electric Cayman is if they stop making the combustion version, and even then they will just lose sales.

I got to drive my brother's BMW G80 M3 and my Model 3 Perf feels so boring and lifeless after that experience even in a straight line, the torque in these M BMWs is just at another level and they are easily doing 0-60s under 3 seconds better than advertised. I am thinking of getting a cheaper M2 with same detuned engine from M3 as my fun weekend car. priorities of driving fun, saftey, effiency , sustinability, , are very harmonious with each other, but laws like CAFE laws and media influencers are encouraging the market to go against what is good for everyone, and engineers at car companies are simply taking the beating and obeying this sad world order because fo their finance team. toyota real world fuel effeincy is better because bfsc chart , epa testing drives cars slowly so small engines are more effceint in that testing but in real world, over tubro bossting small engine is common in average driver behavior . i want gordon murray auto them to collborate on prius , or at leasta version of prius thats more of a handling car because preserving momentum arounds turns to a extent is less usage of materials , less emissions, than relying on decreasing battery life of regenrative braking system, and account for tire wear dust emission and brake dust (for soem brake types) too. for example, imagine prius with no trunk and had peopel sitting lower by shorter structure height, light cheap slippery areo kit protecting weight focused structure perportioning of glass etc a front wheel drive hybrid and a midrear engine rear wheel drive for better non powered momentum preservation , because battery recycling cannot fully happen and currently has been not happening much, hybrids use less materials than any other setup, that means less emissiosn too. also factor in that weight rmakes crash safety, road wear repair rates, materials usage , all emissions including tire emissions (emissions analytics website, endocrine disruptor microplastic, etc) , driving fun (light weight allows easier traction control and traction loss control and allows less powered steering which allows feeling how close to grip limit car is like mclaren/lotus elise/emira etc) . factor in corbrett report, vocational science of freedom, etc, realizations about th climate crisis issues, CAFE laws and europes equal being nonsense supporting "suv" and electric cars (almost the worst car type and the most popular among these "environmentalist") , ani nuclear nergy sentiment among these "enviromentalist", etc... situation for electic cars gets worse. we dont have a already mass scale solution , at best there maybe the "electric universe nikola tesla" theories , if you like. they could make a compact 4 seater that is liek coupe with practical rear seat (not as is usually done) ,, and they can have recycled forged carbon fiber and suspesnion that angles and heightens the car to have it lower crash absorbing stuff hit that of tall suvs . if it doesnt hit lower sitting cars well, at least it doesnt get hit in its weaker parts by the other cars stronger parts. driving fun is mostly about the challengeing game of often being near danger because everyone values not crashing, so its exciting. quickness (liek go forces) doesnt really matter. but a more commonly enjoyable driving fun is speeding more at optimal power and RPM level according to bfsc chart (similar deal also in electric power motors) on more rather downhill roads and even very temporarily beyond areodynamicly effceint speed before rather uphills roads, and steering braking minimally and smoothly... this is driving effciently, and you could be obsessed over the greater amount of pursuit of perfection that could be had compared to proper h pattern manual clutch experince, because you could get excited similarly as much about such goals as you would care about not crashing. maybe you can combine both by simulated version of such manual in effceint drivetrain that isnt too non dramatic, as a real h pattern clutch would, or maybe even better if your open minded to having high quality speakers at headrest give a sense of sound communicating how close to grip limit you are to acompany the rather non power steering sort of driving experience , or hearing the limited slip differential torque vectoring so you can feel precisely how its distributing torque and wheel rpm even when you dont have traction to feel it. ..............................all this stuff is good for everything that makes driving fun (except louder driving sounds and more danger by quicker paced driving at race track, where stuff like 0-60 mile per hour in 2 seconds isnt disappointingly boring for the costs because the fun doesnt last long enough) and everyone average crash saftey, and less usage of materials for longer lasting 1st world living standard (sustainability and chemicals toxicity) : light weight, showing the driver how close to grip imit he is at, relativly higher grip for making risky effceint driving safe , easy to own cheap reliable car, hybrids instead of electric car for weight and recyclability and materials usage economy sustainability, mid rear engine weight distribution, some non hybrids, limited slip differential (presumably a effceint one that probably disengages when not used, for less tire wear , stability when making speed on curving downhill roads for effiency) .

Manual Caymans are sadly a dying breed . I have been keeping an eye on the prices of first generation manual Caymans.

That's because the turbo 4 718 Cayman / Boxsters are way better as PDK.

Manual transmissions are fun on curvy roads like that but it gets old around town and in traffic. An EV is more enjoyable as a daily driver. Yes I own both.

The 718 GTS 4.0 is overrated IMO. Yes it has incredible handling and grip, but it is rather down on power, feels dead below 4000rpm. The gearing is too tall. It is not very refined, too loud inside, and not comfortable enough to drive around regularly. It is also kind of small and has the electric steering, the older Caymans were better. For modern Porsches, a base 992.1 911 is much much better all around and only slightly more expensive. The 911 does not handle quite as well as the 718 and has more weight out back, but in basically every other way it is much better and nicer.

18-way seats are awesome and probably the best I've ever sat in. The amount of adjustments is crazy and it would be very hard to not get comfortable imo...

Ugh, the amount of time you spent in second and third gears is depressing. I sold my manual 991.1 because of the galactically long gearing and Porsche still handicaps their cars with this nonsense. Ruins an otherwise sublime car!
