I grew up in Calexico and now live in Mexicali, and just a word of advice next time you cross into or out of Mexico use the East port it's much easier and faster and once in Mexico easier and faster to get on the Hwy heading south
I have traveled throughout Baja 5 out of the last six years. Never once have I felt unsafe and every local resident or official I’ve encountered has been wonderful. People who tell you its unsafe are lying,
So kind of you to take the time to so help other future Baja wanderers 🌵 🐳
All sorts of great information and advice! Thank you, Maddie. It did bother me, though, that your potatoes were confiscated. I hate to see food go to waste (not to mention money), so now I'll know not to buy more produce than I can consume before crossing that border -- and, if I _do_ have some left over, to cook it the night before leaving. I sincerely doubt cooked vegetables in the icebox would be confiscated. Anyway: welcome back. And I'm looking forward to your next report!
Welcome back to California. Great video with great information. 😊
Glad that you are back in the U.S.A. Also glad that you have had such a wonderful trip to Baja! The videos that you shared were really well done and the scenery was great! Look forward to your next video! Thanks
Another wonderful and informative video this week. I so look forward to saturdays because of your videos.
What a wonderful video, so interesting, inspiring and informative 😊. You are such a great communicator and clearly a thoughtful and caring person. Good luck in the future, too!
Making videos like this will ensure your future success. I always enjoy the information you pass on about plants and locations
Good Saturday morning Maddie. I'm glad to see you're doing well. Thanks for another great vlog chronicling your journey as strong and self sufficient offgrid woman living and camping in the Great Outdoors!! 🌼🌼🌹🌹
Great and informative video Maddie. Thank you. I'm so glad you all enjoyed yourselves in Mexico. I've been there multiple times and spent time involved with the Baja races. Fun times for sure.
Excellent video, Maddie. Thanks for sharing your Baja experience.
Nice Video I'm from in India 🇮🇳
Thank you sooo much for this video, I’m thinking about going next year and this is so helpful🙏🏼🌞💕
Hello there 😊. I find your RUclips videos enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing them. Have a awesome time and I look forward to seeing more. 😊
Hi Maddie, Great info you shared!
So glad you and your friends had a great time in Baja.
I will be following.
I drove a Cargo Pro-master the other day, unfortunately it was spewing black smoke from the exhaust. Also, it was a manuel automatic, you have to shift gears but there is no clutch. NOT what I would want.
I am hoping to find a van to purchase so I can travel. My budget is low. I live in south Florida.
Maybe we will cross paths.
Continue having fun on your journeys!
✔️😀
Great video and subject matter! Thank you, Maddie!
Hello Maddie. Looking Fantabulous as always. Thank you for posting these videos. Have a great weekend take care stay safe and happy travels...JP
Welcome home!! Enjoyed your Baja adventures.
Thank you. I am seriously thinking of moving there. Wonderful video.
Hey Maddie! Another great video! Happy Easter!! Welcome back home! Can't wait to see where your next adventures take you! :)
Amazing start of the video
I seriously enjoyed this, and thankful for the information. Thank you 💞
Very informative & helpful, so glad ur trip went off w/o a hitch
Greetings from Santa Barbara Maddie! Just started watching your videos which are so inspiring, informative, mindful & fun! Thank you! I appreciate how articulate, grounded & clear you are as well as being community oriented. Loved the Women’s Day video & celebration & aerial footage of the gray whales! Shine on with safe & happy travels💚🌊🌤️✨🌷🦋✨🙏
Very cool to hear your Baja tips. Thanks. We’re definitely doing that next year. No can take another Cali foothills winter like this one…sun and fun is the destination.
Thank you for this video Maddie! ❤ theres a huge misperception of what Mexico is and Im glad you enjoyed your time there.
Great video!!
Fabulous. Thanks Maddie❤
Great review Maddie.
Maddie, you have made yet another excellent and extremely informative and helpful video! Thank you for taking the time to detail the costs. I noticed that you were wearing an Arizona State University shirt--did you graduate from ASU? Best wishes!
I didn’t! It’s actually a random purchase from a thrift store when I was in need of an oversized shirt. I graduated from UCSC!
@@Maddie.taylor bad advice on hiding plants, if they are prohibitted could be charged with smuggling 😆
I suspect part of the problem is that we are now hypersensitive to negative events no matter where they happen. Meanwhile we assume that things are better in our home area ignoring the local reports.
Maddie thanks you sharing what happened to u what kind feel u give information and ur life experience it's lovely nice video
I'm from Mexicali/Calexico. Glad to see you have an amazing experience in Baja (except for the crossing wait times, of course, in some towns the daily estimates are all about the weather, here is all about the crossing wait times).
Great Information...thanks for sharing!
Very helpful thanks. You are very good with your spreadsheets, every penny accounted for 😉
Awesome video! I would love to see a vid of your travel itinerary yall did- the roads you took, quality, warnings…and the places you stayed with 1-5 stars with what you thought of the places:) also discuss the weather at each place- wind, temps, rain? I am def gonna go next winter (hopefully not solo fem). Yall sure helped dispel the myths!
yay home sweet home but we all had a great time with your vids and always looked forward to your latest Baja adventure ... honestly I am still shocked that Baja was such a populated area, my impression all these years was that it was just one big and dry desert, with one looooong lonely and dusty 4wd road LOL and they even have Walmarts there !!! 🤣🤣🤣 looking forward to your next vid !!!
Thanks for the informative and enlightening video Maddie. You covered a lot and I appreciate all the tips and helpful hints you shared on travel to Baja. 😍
Welcome home and so happy to see you made it back safely. The epic journey you made to Mexico is so amazing. Memories made that will last a lifetime. 🐳 🦈 Can't wait to see you and all your friends in Bali. 🌴 🌺 🏝
Keep in mind, the souvenirs you buy help the people.
Unless there’s a tag..made in China! 😂😂
Unfortunately, I think I have more chances of being shot in the US in a school, supermarket, etc than in Baja.
Q: Do you have anything to declare?
A: No
Haha, glad it all worked out for you, Maddie )) It was a lot of fun following your adventures.
Such a great video with all the important info. I throughly enjoyed your Baja adventure with your friends and your magnificent wild life encounters. I think you did a fine job of allaying people’s fears and giving them practical advice for safety. Where are we going next? 😉
Good review
great tips sis , God bless u greatly
Awesome video
What a wonderful, informative and truly invaluable video for anyone planning to travel to Baja! I enjoyed this series so much, Maddie. I think my favorite parts were when you found yourself among dolphins and then another time among gray whales. Also, the scuba dive with bull sharks! You will never forget such once in a lifetime experiences. Thank you for taking us along.
Great tutorials.
Sadly, the U.S. government does everything possible to discourage people from going to Mexico. 90% of their warnings are based upon lies! Yes, there are some places/areas you should avoid, but realistically it’s much safer than a lot of American cities. I’m soooooo glad that you enjoyed Baja. It is a magical place!🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🙏🏼
90% of th Mexican population lives in mexico city, tijuana, merida, and mexicali and yes the reports on corruption are 100% accurate. I've been to Mexico and most of it is country and desert but in those cities crime is crazy, Mexico is top 10 in crime in the world for a reason.
Awesome trip. Let me know when you make it to the OC
I am living in Mexico now for the past 2.5 years after living the nomad life in a van. I have a Scwabb ATM card and they give back all fees charged on ATM withdrawals. This is true for anywhere in the world including the US. I have used it in 42 countries.
A good addition would be a sawyer water filter
You are so beautiful and your videos are relaxing, informative, and gorgeous.
Early. Hi Maddie!
You and Sara did the same video around the same time. How odd I was looking this up as we get our van this Saturday
I wish you'd talked more about the restaurants. I've traveled to Baja several times with my parents, and my (now ex-) wife. Ate at restaurants in Tijuana and Ensenada. None of us were/are vegan/vegetarian. But, we always had great meals at great prices in both places. And, no "Montezuma's Revenge". I also wish you'd talked about the quality of the local; beer & wine. Not all of it is exported to the U.S., unfortunately. One of my favorite Baja memories was touring Bodega Santo Thomas in Ensenada.
I'm surprised your walkie-talkies made it across the border OK and weren't confiscated during inspections. Usually, 2-way radios are suspect in the best of cases. Even if a Mexican ham radio license is shown, hams have had their rquipment taken on occasion.
One of your better videos...
2 👍👍 up beautiful stay safe out there 🤞💕🥾🇺🇸
I am brand new to your videos and I was just curious as to why you had a (basically) film crew with you when you crossed the border doing "Van Life"?
Great video!! Traveling to Mexico can be dangerous but it was worth the experience with having a new adventure. Along with traveling back to the United States. The seaside is always the best thing to see in any coast.
What time of year did u go?
I have 25 years traveling between US and Mexico, no worries, you will be safe as soon as you cross the border and leave US.
❤❤Very beautiful. And your content is as cute and distinctive as your beauty ❤❤❤
lovely and be care full you r so cute and nice job ever don so carry on
😍😍😍
Baja has its native rattle snake called the Crotalus enyo... did you see any?
🐍🐍
Dang, you had to go there 😱
91° Fahrenheit equals to 32.7778° Celsius.
No personal experience at all with this so take this for what it's worth. I'd heard that if Starlink detects that you are mobile that you get de-prioritized for service. (vs a stationary remote location)
We’ve really had nothing but reliable service! No problems here
Got a question! Why did they take your Potatoes away? That is very Odd to me!
California has strict regulations to protect against pests and disease including pathogens that can infect potatoes. It’s enforced to protect agriculture but I wish It were enough to assure them my stomach would do the job for them!
@@Maddie.taylor Unless you were going to use the eyes to grow more potatoes (seed potato), not sure how it would affect anybody but you or any other plants. But then again, you live in California, no offense. 😉
I could not find the link for the water attachment. Can you send it to me. Thank you

Myriad species! 😊
Oops 🤦🏻♀️
Are you sad to be home? It look fascinating in Baja.
Drink every time she says Bah-Ha
Good video. I want to post "the more you know" meme, but YT doesn't allow it!😃
I would never ever never go there.
That's sad. There are a lot of people like you and they lose out on this beautiful world.
went to mexico city once, all I got was montizumas revenege when I got home.@@melodyjordan6052

Did you see Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman working on a boat?

They were far more polite than the US immigration officials. Not all but some are the nastiest I have ever seen.I remember being in Abu Dhabi and remember one female officer literally shouting and talking in the worst possible way to a poor girl just because she got some pickle. She didn’t protest or even ask to be allowed to take the bottle but that lady just talked down to her in the worst manner I have ever seen!

Just offering a different point of view here, but here it goes... Baja is sacred. A lot of us gringos have been enjoying it for decades and kept a lot of the areas close to the chest for good reason. The last couple years with Van life, I have seen a lot of changes, and not for the better. It is irresponsible to promote people to travel and vanlife in Baja. The lands are untouched and beautiful for a reason.... people weren't going there and living rent free for weeks/months on end. It just bums me out to see people coming down for the first time and utilizing the limited resources then profiting off publishing RUclips videos for personal gains. The more people coming down will only cause more bad guys to go further to try and rob you. The more people only will cause damage to the beauty of the land, and will eventually be gone forever.
