When you are playing solo, you never will be able to invite anyone over. You always need to enable "Start Server" and add a password before you start your world. You can not change to being Online once you are in the world.
This is a lie. This shit isn't crossplay. My cousin and I have been trying for an hour to play and can't. Keep getting the can't resolve join code shit. He's on pc gamepass and I'm on series x and we cannot play together at all
I wish they would fix this, I would love to play with a bunch of friends and have them online even if I am not. I feel that having someone host a game and if they log off they get kicked.
It might happen, but that is more likely to be cause by the internet quality from either the Host or Joining player(s). Sometimes it might help to have the game hosted by the person with the best quality internet. If you live really far from each other, that can also cause some trouble there, so If you really like the game and want to play with friends more seriously, A dedicated server is sometimes the best solution.
I'm on PC launching via Gamepass, but I don't see the Crossplay button? Any ideas why I don't see that? I just downloaded the game yesterday so it should be on a new version.
On PC gamepass the Crossplay option should automatically be enabled. But I got some people telling me that the crossplay option for Xbox (not sure if that also means PC gamepass) has a crossplay option in the settings, therefore it is not added to the game menu. You probably will have to google this, or ask a friend who also is on Xbox.

Don't even bother with online play on the SeriesX.. it's so laggy and studders like every 2,3min..best when played solo.. absolutely no lag..plus playing online is overrated..
@@The-B-Side what happened to me is that i duplicated my char. my Data on steam was deleted, but i could recover it. now i have 2 clones, one at steam and another one at xbox.
Can you duplicate items when the host left by taking stuff out of containers? When the world progress is not saved the items should be back in the containers and also in your bag. Is that a thing?
I'm having problems joining, my sons are on xbox and I am on my steam deck...when I try to join my sons it says failed to connect never even ask me for the password...please help
Hey Andrew, If you followed everything in this video, then the only thing I can think of is that your son did not enable Crossplay, Which is an option you seem to have enable on the Xbox itself, not the game.

something else that is different is the start screen..where you have 4 words start ,settings,credits,quit...x box that quit is not there..still do not see a way to quit the game on x box
Do you experience lag in multiplayer? it's on the verge of unplayable because the lag is so present, impossible to pick up an object, opening a chest takes 10 seconds, it's extremely problematic, so much so that my friends sit very far out of sight of my basis to hope to play without lag. As soon as we are next to each other, it becomes impossible!

So without mods you tell me there is no lag at all ? i use to play with Valheim Plus, Epic Loot, and some QOL mods like massfarming, Equip Quickslot, BoneAppetit, BackPacks etc ... no Lag if players are far from eatch other, but if we go visit a friend... Lag is coming, and become unplayable
@@Jerome-C the first day when we started on the Ravenheim Server, we encountered MASSIVE lag. It was like playing a slide show. After 5 hours of swearing and getting frustrated, we disabled some mods like the one where not everyone needs to be in bed to sleep. And a few others. WE also disabled the Valheim+ on the server, and just worked with Bepinex. That sorted out All our lag instantly.

And a bunch of very uselfull Mods like Clock, BackPacks, LandAnimal, SeeAnimal, Recyle Plus... etc Soooo improved mods that change the game ! i don't know what to do without it.
Just to clear up you do have the option to turn crossplay off, its built into the xbox in the settings

Are you sure you set up your hosted game (02:18) and has your friend added that friend code to his server list (05:30).

I am pretty sure I never saw any Console game that had a quit option... you kind of always use the console options or dashboard to do so.

Depends a bit on the host location (both on a dedicated server or hosted Multiplayer).
Also, some mods can really slow down a server.
