You have my gratification! Let the scandalacious love triangle between Fiero, Glinda, and Elfaba commence in November of next year because: “we can’t all come and go by bubble.”
If the filmmakers succeed at making Wicked Part 2 based on Act 2, then we might get ourselves a musical version of the combination between Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. I don't think my soul is ready for "For Good" and "No Good Deed" but nevertheless, bring it on baby! 😎
As much as it could be a pipe dream, I'd love to see Liir in the second part. I'm just the book reader, I've never seen the musical, but knew he wasn't part of it. Even if it's a cameo.
If Liir was gonna be in any version of Wicked, I had an idea where he wouldn't be Elphaba's child, but still be related to her, and to me, he’d honestly be the perfect basis for a love interest to Dorothy. I have an entire concept for the idea.
@ellie6475 exactly it's gonna be more faithful to the musical than the book and probably just take tidbits from it. I mean they didn't even add shell (elphaba & nessarose's brother). But hey I had fun with both the musical and movie, book was good but way to wordy for me.
They tragically under-utilized the amazing Broadway/movie actress Keala Settle. She played the character Ms. Coddle, the one who wheels Nessa Rose away. She was the beared lady in the movie, The Greatest Showman. She sang, "This is Me".
I'm wondering what they do with Nessa Rose, the shoes get enchanted so she walks again in Pt 2 (holy ableist batman) but since the actress is actually a wheelchair user, they're gonna have to change that.
I thought she was an ambulatory user and had some use of her legs, but looking into it, it seems that is not the case. It likely depends on if they expand that part much since it's only a couple minutes on stage if I remember correctly. I would assume they would use a body double and close ups as much as possible.
@@kentthompson6407 I think they should completely change it. In Wicked the musical Nessa's portrayal is pretty ablelist overall, including having her magically walk at the end. I'm excited to see them change it.
@CanadianChick811 Sounds like you destroy every type of prosthetics if you could. After all, since Nessa was only able to walk while wearing the shoes so basically a magical prosthetic, like a person regaining use of their legs with a chip in their spine. Their ability to walk is dependent on technology.
@maddisonviti4932 Partially true. In act 2 they are talked about and are “seen” but we never actually see Dorothy herself. Only a silhouette of her once Elphaba melts
Identity of the father is a mystery? You can literally recognize the voice of the actor singing that little routine with her mother, which tells you clearly who the father is.
The Wizard is the man who had the green elixir that got Elphaba’s mom pregnant with her, that’s why she’s green. Also, the lion cub grows up to be the cowardly lion, Boq becomes the Tin Man, and Fiyero becomes the Scarecrow.
I took my husband to see Wicked Part 1 with me, having never known about the musical’s existence. He had a good time and said he does not want to be spoiled on Act II until the movie comes out next year. However, it didn’t take him much time wondering to come to me two days later and ask about #9 on this list. Yes, he was correct…and it’s only a matter of time before more is revealed.
In the book Elphaba, to her death, doesn’t see any connection of the Scarecrow or Tinman. She sends “help” to lead them to her castle but when they end up killing her creatures, she deduces that any possibility of them being linked to her childhood is a fantasy. She also ignites herself by accident, waving her broom at Dorothy in fury. Her melting is a genuine accident.
I do wonder if they’re going to make Dorothy more of a character because let’s face it in the musical she’s more of a plot device hacking some versions of show she’s not even shown
I read the novel, but I don't remember how a particular character becomes the Tin Man. The musical makes it very easy to remember how another character becomes the Scarecrow, however.
@@joshberninger8355 The Tin Man in the book isn't a random character, though he is fairly minor. His fiancee's mother appears before Nessa when Elphaba is visiting her to request that something be done to stop the marriage, and Nessa agrees to stop the marriage by putting an enchantment on the axe to cause him harm to make him a less desirable match, in exchange for a Cow and two Sheep. Elphaba is throroughly disgusted by this for multiple reasons. In the original Wizard of Oz, the Tin Man basically tells the same story of how he became a tin man. (I haven't seen the musical nor the movie yet, but just read the book.) The Scarecrow was just a random scarecrow.
I hope they fix the relationship between Elphaba and the flying monkeys. They were her minions in both the 1939 movie and the musical, so I was very surprised when they were ordered to attack her in the Wicked movie.
Wait I thought it was obvious who the mystery man is at the end of the movie? Me and my boyfriend both got it immediately when he said something about waiting for elphaba to come and join him with her powers.
I always thought it was just Dorothy's point of view, and she obviously had no idea of any of the politics or culture that was going on in Oz when she got there. From the point of view of Wicked, looks like no one she ran into made any effort to educate her, either.
I was wary of this adaptation. You might say I would have been distrawt if their heart wasn tin it, but it was! I’d be lion if I said I didn’t mind the wait for part toto come along.
