    I use a butt kicker with simracing in VR. I had the exact same experience as you did. I was very underwhelmed at first. Then I started setting it up gradually and UT became a whole different experience. Just like you, now I can't sim race without it. It even gives you useful information like when the tyres start sliding which is very important to know to save lap time. I wish I could try it with my flight sim setup but it is a hassle to switch it every time.

    So pleased to see this. I've been using the Jet Seat with Simshaker Aviation software in DCS for nearly 2 years now. Its so immersive, its hard to fly without it! The Jet Seat is the same design (6 vibrating pads) and the software is tailored to each DCS module. But it's made in Russia and is hard to purchase/replace under the current situation, if something goes wrong. I'm so pleased to see I have a back up if it fails.

    I’m a fan of SRS. The software works well with my DOF motions platform. This is a decent alternative to Andres Jet Seat and Simshaker software, but not nearly as customizable. The jet seat/simshaker make better use of sim telemetry and allow for emphasis of specific things like stall buffet, VRS in helicopters, ground bumps and of course weapons. Sadly, it’s a bit tough to get your hands on one right now.

      I've used the Gametrix KW-908 JetSeat for many years in DCS and it's an essential part of my VR setup. When i first got it i tested it in DCS with default settings in Simshaker on a monitor. My initial thought was "have i just bought a massage-mat?" as it felt a bit underwhelming and disconnected. After some adjustments and using it in VR for a few hours i disconnected to see the difference. It felt like something was missing, not just for the immersion, but also for "feeling" the plane. Getting feedback on high AOA is invaluable. It also helped me with motion sickness. Before i got the JetSeat i couldn't do acrobatics or rolls without getting nauseous. Same thing with driving games in VR.

    I've been using bass transducers for many years for my racing sims and can't imagine going without them. I have a ton of them, 1 very large Clark transducer on front and rear, 4 medium sized Aura transducers underneath the chassis corners, and 4 of the small Dayton puck transducers between the pedal deck and inside my race seat.
    The SRS setup I believe uses Daton pucks (or equivalent) inside and they can do a fantastic job at giving feedback. I think max out around 5 lbs of force each or so but combined it's quite a bit more. The Auras do around 30 lbs max each, and the Clarks....a lot lol.
    I use SimXperience for my racing sims because of the software and control compared to almost everything else (plus it runs my Accuforce steering wheel). I use SRS for my bass transducers when flying though because SimXperience didn't have support when I started flying and I just never went back to check haha.
    I first learned of SRS because of their Sim-Wind telemetry based fan systems, and since the day I bought those I've been a big fan. I also use those fans when flying, and they work very well with the transducers. I typically only run the Clarks and fans when flying because there are fewer channels available, but that's totally fine when flying.
    I can't imagine flying without the transducers and fans...that'd be like flying without VR and I will NEVER do that again haha. 6 years of VR greatness and I keep adding things to the rig. 👍👍

    I have been using a buttkicker and transducers for several years for sim racing and more recently MSFS2020. I just researched this U-Shake unit and it seems a good unit but I feel that most people would be better off, in the long term, getting some transducers and an appropriate amplifier and software setting it up on their seat or rig themselves. I started off with the Buttkicker and now have 6 transducers attached to my rig as well. I have learned a lot and am glad I went the DIY route even though I started with very little expertise in this area.

    So, based on this video I saw a few weeks ago I purchased this U-shake6. I'm not so sure this is quite ready for Airplanes yet, though. The engine rumble feels like it is coming from the sub-woofer as well as taxi/runway bumps. I have yet to feel any sensation from any other drivers, other possibly the L/R rear ones. It's hard to tell as they are so close to the Sub. That's not to say I'm disappointed in the device at all, however. Just the engine RPM being felt is indeed amazing. On a recent takeoff, I must have been smacked by some turbulence because I felt a strong thump that actually startled me. I said to myself, Wow, This is great!
    I'm wondering what the theory of operation is? Are the individual drivers activated by the audio that is sent to the speakers, or is it reading the RPM values in the sim data? If that's the case, what variable would be available for turbulence? If audio sound is the source, as far as I know, the sim audio output is stereo, so that could only feed 2 drivers plus the sub. I don't know. I guess I'll have to try to reach out to the Sim Racing dudes (or dudettes).
    Just think how great it would be for them to come out with an attachment to add to the yoke and rudder pedals...

    • @VRFlightSimGuy
      @VRFlightSimGuy  Год назад

      Thanks for your feedback. The thump you felt may have been from your gear retracting. But I agree, some parts of the experience are amazing, yet others need some work. We need better support and telemetry from the sim, something I'm hoping they are looking into.

    And although I only use Buttkicker and not the "shaky" mat, I can't use any simulator without it anyway.

  • @Hatredy11

    I believe haptics are necessary for VR flying. I've had a Gametrix Jetseat, a Simshaker Jetpad FSE, and the U-Shake. Both of my Jetpads died. I opened them up and the capacitors were fried. I replaced them but had no luck. Andre offered to repair them for the price of shipping but I didn't want to wait so I ordered the U-shake. The software telemetry feeling is miles better with the SimShaker software compared to SRS. The feedback effects seem more detailed and separated. The U-Shake is a much beefier unit and more powerful. It gets very hot if you have the settings too high. The Jetseat and U-Shake have almost no padding and hurt if you sit on them long enough. The Jetpad FSE looks the best and has decent padding. For the U-Shake not to have adequate padding at its price is ridiculous. I have to stretch out after every sortie or my ass goes numb. I ended up pulling the shakers out of the Jetpad FSE and putting the whole U-Shake inside it for looks and more padding.

    I have a Buttkicker Gamer 2 mounted under the chair in my Obutto Revolution cockpit. It does add a lot for the immersion, but the way I have mine setup it isn't real haptics. It's basicly just taking the subwoofer's audio channel and using that to shake the chair.
    To do the haptics right with a Buttkicker, you would need to add a dedicated sound card for them, and run software that pulls the vibration queues from the game physics. It's a bit of fiddling, but I do know of people with that kind of setup using several buttkicker transducers mounted in their cockpit.
    The U-Shake6 sounds like it's the same idea in a much better plug and play solution. Six transducers all on their own channels without needing an extra sound card (because it's already built in), and its own software that easily pulls the haptic queues from the game to keep things fairly simple. I might have to consider this.

    That can really get you hooked. I have been flying the gametrix game seat that has 6 transducers. Although it does not require as much hardware as the UShake6 HAPTC seat but does the something and I never fly without it. However for the price with as many games and sim it support with that much granularity of control of the sound and frequency, I guess it is a worthy nice replacement since the Gametric is no longer available. Mine is a bit worn but still somewhat functional but is needs to be replace. I will keep an eye on this.

    Day 1 with Ushake6 and DCS and it’s a little underwhelming. It does not use telemetry yet for weapon launches and cannon firing - you need to set up a key bind to trigger these effects - which I still have not been able to actually do yet; I set up the key binds, save the profile and then nothing occurs when I fire the gun - maybe I am missing something. I had to turn off all the G settings because it felt weird and distracting. I was hoping to get thumping deck landings simulated here but not figured out that yet. Maybe I need to try a better setting but finding a guide on how to has eluded me today. Not sure there is any telemetry for afterburner in DCS - that is just greyed out and not available in the sim pro app for me. Engine and gear effects are ok and linked to telemetry and,like you said, require turning down to keep it subtle. Day 1 verdict is that this will be better once the flight sim software catches up with the car software. There is no recognition yet of stall buffet, or air brake and flaps and, even though I have not got the weapon launch/cannon fire to work at all, they are apparently generic effects anyway right now. So, not worth my $400 dollars yet, but optimistic that it will be soon because at the moment I have paid about $200 dollars each for a subtle engine effect and the wheels going up and down. More positively the build quality and installation and comfort are all pretty good.😊

    • @ernestwinslow7316
      @ernestwinslow7316 Год назад +1

      The simshaker JetSeat which I have does have all the telemetries dialed in. Weapon launch, Cannon firing, high AOA buffet, and many others in there. I believe I got it for less than $200 if I remember correctly. The con for me now is cable management. I do some other work on my chair and the cables just get in the way for me.

    • @thekardinal848
      @thekardinal848 Год назад +1

      @@ernestwinslow7316 That is useful to know - I read that the sim shaker stuff seems a little difficult to get hold of and, of course, this UShake6 only has one cable. Perhaps once the UShake6 software catches up so that more aviation telemetry is used, it will become better in the future - and it was super fast arriving. I am happy wait a bit until it does. Oddly enough the Ushake6 software does recognise my Winwing joystick for binding a cannon effect but if then fails to instigate the effect when you pull the trigger….if however, I bind the cannon effect to a keyboard button, it rumbles away no problem….still have not figured it out how the software can recognise the presence of the wing wing joystick and, even the buttons being pressed on it and yet not be able to link that to the cannon effect. I might email them to see if it is a known issue.

So, despite it's not a headset part itself, it's an important part of the VR experience, and if it improves that experience then yes, you clearly can say without any shame that it IS a game changer.
