The problem is literally no one cares, you try reporting these installs to anyone HSE, gas safe, building control and non of them will do anything. Either in terms of making the landlord make them safe or finding the installer that did the work.
Problem is. Too many crap installers and gas safe done inspection enough installs. They don’t have enough staff. Also how do these get passed on a service
Hello I would like to install my new combi boiler in the place where behind the wall is garage. Can I put flue what going from inside the house to garage and then 90 degrees bend and go outside from garage? Thanks
Hi, thanks for the video, very informative. I've had a new boiler installed and am happy with it, but I'd noticed the weather guard slightly protruding, so pushed it back against the wall, which was fine. I happened to notice that it hadn't been insulated around the flue itself (behind the weatherguard, question is, is this acceptable/normal? Thanks
Nice one Derek. Can you point me to the right page in the ideal installation manual that says it cannot be outside? I cannot seem to find it in my manual? Thank you
Lee Edwards there is a drawing in the manual which shows you the finished terminal position and if you go on any idea training course it’s the first thing they tell you as the flue has no uv protection.
I have a flue at the rear of my house and my problem is that the steam keeps setting off my motion camera. Is there any kind of extension I can get that would re-direct the steam away from the camera?
My flue is out the roof, nice and vertical :-) Will need a new boiler soon, be worried about getting a good engineer to install it, and not someone who doesn't really care.
Hi , I love your videos by the way . Brief question- have you done anything about that flu that was less then 300 mm from the door , I guess not . And this is what I disagree with . We bought know that this create a serious risk to whoever lives there and we gas engineers should be encouraged and allowed to call authorities and they should make the landlord to rectify the problem immediately.
chris sadowski I agree I knocked on all the doors and no one answered I don’t know if they are rented or private I hope they are not rented lol. There is only so much you can do when your are only passing by and not working on the property.
I always go back to your videos, always learning. Thank you🙌
Thanks Derek great video 👍👍
Great video love the Real life examples !
Thanks for the prompt reply Derek. I did go on the vogue course when that came out but none of the others. Doh

Tanx for the upload I've seen flues installed similar to your video i can't believe they can be installed by gas safe engineers😕

Excellent
The 300mm from the door.
Is the measurement from the brick opening or the actual door or window opening.
Spot on Derek

It depends on what boiler it is but most engineers now seal the flue inside and outside even if it has a weather collar

You looked almost as proud as the installer when you were standing in front of that flue!
I specially love the vertical flue Hussain it’s a work of art 🤪
Can imagine being a tenant in one of those flats. See this dude rock up outside, absolutely slagging your gaff off.

Garry G Get a local reputable engineer and they will probably look after you
keep away from the big national companies,
Gas safe advised me, shuttered extract are out of the equation, as closed most time and in use is highly diluted
Until the vents are badly installed and the products of combustion go straight into the house like I have had a few times
Just watched Aaron trainee 😁👍
