Very good explanatory plume kit video. I've just built a car port but am not a gas approved engineer so I will contact my heating engineer (who services our Worcester Greenstar 30i Condensing Combi Boiler) and ask him to obtain and fit a suitable plume extension kit. Many thanks. Phil Edwards. North Wales. UK.
Having been a gas engineer for 37 years I would just like to say that I think your videos , advice and technical explanations are excellent
Great stuff
Cheers
Now, this video is a gold, short and very precise. Helpful to new ACS trainees
Hahahaha. I love your obvious yet subtle digs at manufacturers. You show the realism of being a gas installer 👍
Shows you how companies I've worked for say you can't use a plume kit to rectify distances. It's still measured from flue outlet. Your a true expert
The best vid I've seen on explaining p kit. Cheers Derek.
Great video Derek, always helpful 🙏 thank you
Helpful video, thanks Derek👍👍👍
Cheers Derek, great explanation…you most definitely put it in Lehman’s terms 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Keep up the good work Derek. 👏
Thanks for the vid, Derek. Always great to watch and keep the mind refreshed. I'm sure most already know but those Worcester flues are great but for those that don't install them, whichever way the diverter points it increases the minimum distance to 1500mm to an opening. I see this mistake often. Viessmann allows you to have the air intake down to 100mm to an opening with a plume kit but fail dreadfully on the information they provide with their products so most probably won't know that!
Great explanation once again.👍
Excellent video I learned a lot from it Thank you
Great video, thanks for some very useful information 👍👍👍🇬🇧
Thanks Derek great video 👍
Nice work. 👏👍👍👌
Thanks derek..
Tomkat👍🏻 cheers Derek
Quality video 👍
Excellent
Thanks for the good video.
One question if I may, is it normal for small amounts of condensate to drip from the end of the flue kit, particularly if its vertically mounted like mine.
Water seems to condense on the bird guard (I assume that most of it runs down the flue back into the boiler) and drip off. I've got bricks laid on sand below, so not particularly vulnerable to acidic attack but I'd like to be sure.
My boiler is Vaillant EcoTech (18 kW) heat only unit and needed the flue diverter because the neighbour's wall has a couple of extractor fan outlets facing on to the flue position (its just over a metre away so would otherwise be OK). The flue diverter is about half a meter high, and has a 45 degree angle bend on the top so that the plume is not directly driven towards the neighbour's wall but instead 'points' towards the end gap between the two houses. Can send a photo if it helps.
Hi Derek your a true master in this profession just like my old lecturer God rest his soul.
Derek quick question.. electricisns are they legally allowed to take cover off he boiler (secondary seal type) eg vaillant eco tec or ideal logic to wire up stat
If they are with a gas engineer yes they are but if not they cannot take the combustion cover off
Excellent 🌹🌹👍👍
Thank you
Opening to the outer flue or outlet?
Interesting, am I right in saying that when the boiler in running , you will get condensation buildup on the end of the flue ?
I ask because I don’t get why and so called electrician placed an coach light directly under the boiler flue , as drops of water will drip onto the said lights and will corrode the light fitting and it will get into the fitting. The guy in question is NAPIT registered ?
Great video mate. As an electrician this is something I have to think about when fitting outside lights and sockets.
👍👍👍
Yes you will get condensation on the end of the flue
Just had my boiler switched off by Baxi.
They said the POC’s where present in my property. I asked him to fix it and he said it’s an installer issue. I rang my installer he said it was probably strong winds blowing the POC’s back towards the boiler.
The installer suggested a pluming kit. Does this make sense…?
tomkat,
can you help me out, every time it rains water is coming in via flue and coming through my boiler and onto my worktops. I'm having to put a bucket underneath the boiler now, to catch the water. gas company cane yo have a look, and suggested a plume kit but apparently they see obsolete and can't be found to solve my problem. any suggestions
Rain water getting through the flue is normally caused by leaking gutters or waste pipes because the flues are tested so normal rain want enter the boiler. Also if the flue has a big fall back to the boiler that can also let rain in
Brilliant as always Mr Derek. Are you breading heavily or is it just background noise. Hope you ok
I suffer from allergies and asthma and this time of the year is not good for me. Thanks for asking
Star Anis is the best put 4 to 5 star Anis in a pot boil it. Reheat next morning and drink it you should be fine
Hi Mr Derek I am doing ACS training. After getting the qualification I would be able to work on boilers and water heaters. The awarding body logic said that newly qualified engineers should wait one year so that they can add cookers and fires tickets and should prove competency with a portfolio of evidence. Is there a shortcut to take to add those tickets? Thank you
@@saidhissoufi277 you should have gone to a centre that gives you all the appliances like we do at tomkat. Sorry there are no shortcuts other than doing all the appliances at the same time
@@tomkatgastraining that is the nearest centre to me I live in Bath. And the centre is in Cardiff. May be I can manage to get portfolio for cookers but fires where do I find them.
Someone told me last week you can legally do gas work if no monies or reward involved as per GSi&UR 🤔
👍👍
Do you know the best book to buy for ACS, ventilation , flues, etc
No need for a book just watch my videos 😜

Boundary . we had a 1m gap between property it caused damp and condensation inside the neighboring property . it blasted flue gas onto the wall of the neighbor and they had condensation running down the inside of the wall gas safe refused to get involved and local council had no power force the boiler owner to make changes .
