    Worked for Amazon for five months, and I can tell you that their high turnover is their own fault. If they didn't treat their people like consumable robots and focus on numbers above all else, maybe people would be more likely to actually like working there and stay for longer.

      It doesn’t copy it exactly (very often) and even if it does they have a filter to prevent that - however, some things could slip past the filter if they changed it a bit and arguably learning from the code is a form of using it, so maybe it would have been safer to only train it on permissively licensed code

    My gf worked at Amazon for a whopping 6 hours. She then had a panic attack and they locked her in a room on her own to calm down. I was working that day, and so we both walked into the “first aid room” where they did the most pathetic health check ever, and we both quit there and then.
    If Amazon is scared that they’ve depleted the entire workforce, they should actually do something to entice people to work for them rather than complain that nobody wants to be locked in a staff room during a physiological meltdown for £10/hour!
    Seriously though, never work for Amazon. The pay is pretty decent, but you’ll hate your entire life for the duration of your time there. It’s the worst job I’ve ever had, and I’ve worked some pretty shitty jobs in my time.

      @nolram 2 года назад

      Well they aren’t copying code, and copyleft does not exclude learning from existing code to write new code (as a human could too) - so no, it does steal code as it generates new code from scratch, its not retrieving data from a database.

      The regular XPS and other laptops are more similar to the M1 MacBook (at $1000). I mean, I'm not saying it's cheap, but it's not so outrageously overpriced compared to the competition.

    Intel* starting with the low/mid end GPUs is super smart. Arguably a much bigger market, and less pressure.
    Plus: time to learn & improve (issues + drivers. Slowly pushing towards the range to the limits) before releasing flagship models.
    Availability should also be better, since there are less discarded chips. (Make the bleeding edge kind - kinda fail. Disable some cores, clock down, and you still have a chip worthy of low/mid end GPUs)
    If they're priced competitively (and are available), they will absolutely OWN that segment in no time at all (And that would force Nvidia and AMD to compete, too)
    I like Intel's new direction.
    Very pragmatic from an engineering perspective, and very smart business-wise.

    The new form factor design feels hollow, feels cheap, weak screen hinges, no wedge ending, not rounded leg surface but flat, heavier lcd/led enclosure. Feels like other Laptops. M1 air and m2 pro would be the last wedge design before material cost cutting as seen in m2 pro 14/16 and perhaps the m2 air.. pretty easy to spot cost cutting in the new form factors..

People say it’s “boring”, yet, the M1 sold like hot cakes and was the second best-selling laptop on the market. With this in mind, I don’t blame Apple for keeping the same design and features. They’re part of what people loved about the M1. I suppose they could have offered some more color options like they’ve done with the new MacBook Air M2 but other than that, I’m not sure what other changes people were expecting.
