      I heard vegans must take EFA and DHA supplements from other plant~based vegan doctors I follow. Dr.Joel Fuhrman has his own line of supplements that include these.

      I’m still transitioning off of animal products. I’m eating my non~starchy vegetables first,and am eating meat only on the weekends.
      I love how I feel eating vegan, and choosing more beans and legumes as protein. It’s a process for me.

I've been watching lots of You Tube videos but this is the first that really addresses the proportions you have to stick to (even at breakfast). Also - you eat dessert - which I so appreciate - since I feel I need it. Can you also address snacks in your future videos?? Thanks for the video!

Lots of people try to preach and tell you what you should believe, which leads to a population of people who fall for everything. I started last August, and I am proud to say, that I've lost about 65lbs., and still going. I was in the lower 200's, range. Even after I've lost the weight that I feel most comfortable at, I plan to always eat this way, but just alter the,starch to Veggie, ratio. This with, daily exercise, has been key! Again, Thnku., so much, for just being you! 💪🏼🙏🏽❤️

I also turn 49 this year so i am guessing that my age is playing a part in my slow weight loss. I started 6 months ago and i have lost 16 kg. Deborah Martin have you tried adding Strength training to your routine maybe 2-3 times a week. Muscle mass decreases with age, but the more muscle mass you have, you burn more calories even while sleeping. 1 lb of muscle burns 14 calories while 1lb of fat burns 3! So just getting a little extra muscle can boost your metabolism and reignite your weight lose. Doesn’t need to be anything crazy. I’ve been using the peloton app free for 3 months and it has Strength class by time and level. Try it and it can prob help you lose and tone!

    For gaining weight after a week or two question-- a lot of people do this diet wrong or "kinda cheat" whether that be chips and guac or oily salad dressings, etc. and it'll be harder to see results doing that. however, if you've been doing everything right and serving yourself right, it's likely extra glycogen and the corresponding water weight (that can be 5-10+ lbs. of weight). Also, you do have to eat larger quantities of food on this lifestyle so could be just the increased weight of food. Don't assume it's fat if you truly are doing things right and not cheating

    Hi Kiki
    For curries
    Try using 1 teaspoon kitchen king masala by MDH, Badshah, Everest or Rani (depending on what brand you get in USA) instead of curry powder it gives amazing flavour just like restaurant flavour along with
    1 teaspoon coriander powder
    1 teaspoon cumin powder and
    half teaspoon tumeric powder
    1 teaspoon garam masala (optional as it can be strong)

    Thank you! Thank you for this video!
    I have spent the last 20-odd years of my life eating low-carb. Went WFPBno in October because I was frustrated with Low-carb ... I also got tired of feeling like I was doing something bad by wanting a potato. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Basically eat more non starchy veggies and big salads then some whole complex carbs in the form of potatoes. Then if your hungry at more veggies/ legumes. Stock up the fridge/ freezer with veggies and salad stuffs. Thank you Kiki 🤩🥳. I was definitely starting to just reach for the carbs only and forgetting about the veggies. I find it hard to eat microwaved/ steamed veggies for breakfast. BUT veggie soup is easy.

    My fave meal is water sautee a whole onion. Add 1/2 of a shredded small cabbage. Then add some hash browns. Dress with just salt n pepper. Be mindful of how much hash browns you add but it's delish!

    It would be ever so helpful if we could get your husbands perspective on going plantbased to show other men it's really not that difficult! My husband is interested and has various health issues that the PB diet would help immensely but he over thinks the change!

    I weaned myself off coffee by slowly reducing the number of servings, then gradually switching to a good quality decaf coffee. Since eliminating coffee, I sleep soooo much better. I realized that even one cup of caffeinated coffee in the morning was keeping me awake till late at night, and making my sleep less restful. Improper sleep can cause cortisol spikes, which turn on hunger hormones. So caffeine can really sabotage weightloss efforts.

    • @jennakirk8439
      @jennakirk8439 4 года назад +3

      So what did you do to keep you awake during the day? I am a full-time working single mom so I need lots of energy. I tried to limit my coffee to once a day but then I almost fall asleep at work.

    • @Brianna-yy3yz
      @Brianna-yy3yz 4 года назад +1

      Following. Same as Jenna I have several cups a day and I don’t know how I’ll function without it although I don’t want to be dependent on caffeine either 😕

    • @NLR759
      @NLR759 4 года назад +1

      @@jennakirk8439 You probably are not getting enough sleep. I know it can be a hard habit to change, but maybe try going to bed even 15 minutes earlier, and gradually increase that. Also, green and black tea has much less caffeine, so maybe switch to tea for a while to scale back the caffeine?

    • @NLR759
      @NLR759 4 года назад +2

      @@Brianna-yy3yz Believe me, I was a coffee lover and thought I could never feel awake in the morning without coffee. But this is a habit that you can break. One question for you, do you drink it with cream and sugar? Or black? I always drank it with cream, then tried drinking it black because there is no non-dairy creamer that tastes as good as the half&half (in my opinion). After switching to black coffee, I realized I didn't enjoy it nearly as much. I think I was just as addicted to the cream as the caffeine! Because my sleep is so much better now without caffeine in my system, I feel much more rested in the morning. The transition is not easy, though, but it only takes a couple of weeks. But I am no longer a slave to coffee. The other thing about coffee and tea, is that the polyphenols in them block iron absorption. Low iron can also make you feel tired. So drinking coffee is a bit of a vicious cycle. It masks sleep deprivation, blocks iron absorption, which can make you feel even more tired, which leads to drinking more coffee! Break the cycle, you can do it!

    • @Brianna-yy3yz
      @Brianna-yy3yz 4 года назад

      lydiaD777 thank you! I already have always had low iron levels so maybe that’s not a coincidence but I really want to kick the habit & yes I drink mine with creamer as well. I’m the same as you must have been because if I don’t have my creamer I don’t want it lol but I usually just use sweetened creamer I don’t add extra sugars

    My favorite meal is 1 sweet potato and one regular potato sliced into fries and cooked in my air fryer. I tend to eat the same veggies broccoli, peas, corn ... cooked in my air fryer, I have a hard time with salads, so I keep trying with that. I also love rice and beans to mix it up. I am so boring!😊

    I’ve just read the starch solution and find that the recipes in the back are very heavy on the tofu, which I don’t eat much of. Your videos are an inspiration, and make me want to get started, but I haven’t gotten there yet. You mentioned about being hungry the first week or so and I’m so used to just ignoring that that it’s hard to allow myself to eat! But you explained it really well. Thank you.

    Great video! I love seeing your food. My question is about how you and your husband transitioned to following the Starch Solution. Did you transition gradually or all at once? If you did it all at once, what did you do with all the food in your house that wasn't compliant? And was it difficult to know what and how to eat once those foods were no longer available? Or did you just use up what you had and replace them with foods that were compliant?

    Is that the portion size you eat normally?? My word, I may switch to this lol. Diets usually have the smallest portion.
