Silicon spray is great stuff! We use it to lubricate the foam saws at work. I've also used it on the rubber door seals of my car. It seems to work much better than most purpose-made products, and it's a lot cheaper!( ie. Products that are marketed exclusively for use on rubber.) People shouldn't be tempted to use any oil or solvent-based cleaners on rubber. Most rubber will be destroyed by those. Out of the most common types of rubber, in order from least resistant to most resistant to petrochemicals is: natural rubber, neoprene, EPDM, black nitrile. Black nitrile can actually be used to make gaskets against petrol (but not diesel). -Rubber is one of the products I sell, where I work. I have technical data sheets on all sorts of type of rubber. I've just used our common names. Many rubber types (technically artificial rubber) also have other names. Laboratories, for example, will usually use the most accurate chemically accurate names, rather than the shorter common names. I can see if I can dig up some reliable links to more info, if you're interested. (Manufacturer's websites are a great source of information, because they're pretty straight forward about the pros and cons of the products they sell.)
Have the exact same mask, lost the plastic pièce that goes on the mouth, just under the filter (the one that looks like a little grill). Any chance I can buy that singular piece? If so, how or where?
Can I add a suggestion to the silicone side of things. I would personally use silicone grease which comes in a tube like toothpaste. R.S components is a good place to get it. The reason being is that the spray lubricants contain extra chemicals in the aerosol which may or may not affect the mask. Great advice on your video though. The silicone grease works really well on old rubber 40mm tubes too - just requires a little elbow grease.(pardon the pun) 😁😁
I've never had an issue with silicone spray, this stuff is suitable for air gun seals which are a bit more vulnerable than a chemical warfare respirator, but yeah if you prefer the grease then use that.
Do you recommend using sanitary wipes from brands such as Clorox? I tried it on my M1 and it made almost no difference. So is it safe/safe for the preservation of the respirator?
*sigh* if you are looking for prepping here are the priorities. A mask with a nato thread. durable straps. And whell that's the only priorities. If you are really gonna spend on prepping get a mask with drinking system a nice fov. Comfortability. and last but not least. voice diaphragm
Is it safe to apply this kind of silicone lube for the inside mask ? or just for the exterior rubber. I don't know if the skin appreciate the contact with the spray :/
Weaponsandstuff93 Ok thanks for your advice, I just used silicon spray grease on my respirator it works perfectly. people who practice scuba diving are using Silicon grease for all the rubber parts, I think I will try.
Question: is there any way to get the plastic lenses clear on a Belgium M 51 mask? Everything else is great rubber straps etc. it’s just that the lenses seem foggy but not scratched. Was sold to me as new never used. Obviously it’s about 65 years old if it is new old stock. Anyway thank you so much for all the great content you put out. By the way this model was dated manufacture 1956. Appreciate any help from you or others on here thanks in advance.
I cant find anything about the m51 gas mask have any suggestions on what type of brand to clean with or how to clean the m51 without damaging the delicate voice diaphram
I'm buying a Swiss SM-74, should the same process be fine for it or should I worry about various parts of the mask (I'm sure sprayway glass cleaner should be fine)
I have an om0-90 gas mask about 20 years old but in great condition, it's sealed, no cracks or blemishes so it looks like new old stock. I used a rubber conditioner called 3-IN-ONE RVcare Rubber Seal Conditioner. would you trust this in cbrn scenarios? I maybe should have not done that. but what are your thoughts?
Hey bro, how are you, i have a question and i hope you can help me, i have a MSA advantage 3200 full face respirator and the visor has a little scratches and i wanna know if can be polished to eliminate the marks or that will distort the view when i put the mask, thanks and i am apologize for my writing, english isn't my native language
Ray Ban is an American division of Bausch & Lomb. A very old company form the mid 19th century (1850 something) that specializes in eye care products and such. They are now considered a premier eye wear (sun glasses, contact lenses and solutions I think, spectacles, implants, medications, etc) Co. On every street corner here. Good shit. Often expensive. Liam has good taste :)
Yes That's the best to use on polyurthane bushings from what I've read, so it won't have a reaction on your polyurthane mask either, and will get the same job done Never use petroleum though, it will destroy your mask, so make sure you've got Silicone based synthetic water-proof grease
Every mask I've tried it with has had no issues, most masks come coated in talc as a preservative however it's important to get a good quality silicone lubricant that doesn't contain weird chemicals that may damage the mask.

I just brought an S10, seals perfectly and I am happy about it - how would I go about preserving an S10?
Shown in this video but also store it away from water and direct sunlight.

From my research, using silicone lube from a can isn't preferable because of hydrocarbon propellants. Is this true?
Do you recommend using sanitary wipes from brands such as Clorox? I tried it on my M1 and it made almost no difference. So is it safe/safe for the preservation of the respirator?
It depends what's in them, silicone lube is specialist stuff, as for cleaning I just dilute disinfectant as I know what's in it.
I bet tire shine would work a treat. That's made to make rubber nice and shiny.
As long as it doesn't damage the rubber masks are made from, as some masks use various types of rubber.
Could u do a vid showing us what to look for when buying a gasmask

What is the gas mask you have called?
Do you just apply the silicone to the outside, or do you put it on the
Inside as well?
Up to you but normally just the outside for polishing
Weaponsandstuff93 if i dont apply it to the inside, does it affect the effectiveness of the gas mask?
there's a few ways you can do this and the choice is yours.
He's a menance for using them German pants with the israel gas mask 😂
No cleaning and lubeing the inside? Should it be done?
Can do if you want but don't get the silicone all over your face

By the way great 👍 videos - very informative- appreciate the work!
I have some WD-40 laying around... is it possible to use that on a FM-12 I have?
I doubt it, WD-40 just displaces water.

Try a tiny bit of silicone lube on a small section of the mask, if it works well then do the entire mask.
Weaponsandstuff93 thank you. Happy holidays!
Would it be safe on a original gp5 gas mask because i cant find anything about it.
Would be fine on a GP5.
