those sonic motors love to warp the intake manifolds, run super lean, and melt heads. we had one in our shop like that, after we installed a reman head, we found it had a broken ring, or something else wrong. super low compression on one cylinder, computer just shut down the injector on it and left it to dead miss. car turned into a huge money pit. and after we fixed it, the guy failed to replace his bald tires before winter and slid off an interstate and totaled it. pretty sure that motor is still made by deawoo... dont buy sonics people. and potholes only damage wagonwheels, if you live on the surface of the moon like most of us, get some more rubber, less rim you'll be fine. if you start diving in to the xxx\50rxx range and lower, your asking for trouble.
Had an older F350 flatbed come in where the driveline had been twisted until it snapped and the trans bellhousing was shattered. Cause: the bed had a hole rotted thru one of it's 2x8 lumber boards and a hook on a 30,000lb tie strap had dangled thru the hole and got wrapped around the driveline. The ratchet end of the strap got caught on a very large generator they were hauling. They were on the hwy doing 60mph. They said it nearly threw them through the windshield. The generator, somehow, stayed put.

Ah, potholes... I remember driving down from a mountain range in my old Beetle, on a relatively narrow, steep and twisty road. Behind me was a Toyota Hiace or sometning similar (a bit too close for comfort). Came round a bend, approached a tiny, narrow bridge - and there was not so much a pothole as a massive bit of tarmac missing just before the bridge. There was no way of stopping in time, and any attempt at hard braking would have landed me a Hiace up the backside. So I just steered as close to the edge of the road as possible to avoid the hole. Thankfully, the Beetle is a narrow car, so I managed just fine. Never did see that Hiace in my rear view mirror again, though.
I also agree with you brother my name is Rodney Hopper and I'm pretty sure these people have not a clue to what they are doing with a vehicle they should stick to a bicycle or a horse and buggy for their transportation purposes 😂😆
Not completely, Tyler Covey. The Mechanic's Nightmare comes full circle with, "Can you do all of this work for cheap? I have only twenty dollars on me. I also need this work done with top quality and in the next twenty minutes tops!".
The pothole that guy hit in the last snippet must have been a Kenosha (Wisconsin) pothole! Yes, our potholes in Kenosha really are that big, and that bad.

Timing chain in 4 pieces and 2 broken rockers......how many bent or broken valve stems? Or did they even check?? Still trying to fathom how the chain managed to be in 4 pieces, though. I've seen 2 pieces before, but never 4. As for the cracked radiator, that's what happens when you make a pressurized system with cheap plastics instead of sturdy metals.

I guess it's just a personality type. I enjoy working on my vehicles. Now, I sit at a desk and do IT for a living, so by the time the weekend rolls around, I'm happy to get outside and spend all day wrenching, especially with my best friend coming over to help. He's helped me to practically restore an old Jeep (2004 WJ) whereby most of it has been touched with some level of inspection and/or repair. People who let this kinda crap happen to their vehicles don't care, they just ride until the wheels fall off and then deal with the consequences which is not only cost prohibitive, but dangerous.
@@JustRolledIn It had to have been wheel hop. at least imo. Shattered everything from the drivetrain shock. It's the only thing I can think that can cause that level of destruction.
2:30 , revved it and dumped the clutch .. my boss did that to his boom truck . it froze into the ground from water dripping on it and it getting cold at night ... a little bit of impatiens make for and expensive fix... also a pain for me as i had to make him the new driveshaft .
@2:30 I am thinking of an unbalanced driveshaft... when I was in the army we would tie big bolts to the driveshaft of truckdrivers that had been an ass to us sitting in the back; same result :-)
That must have been the same pothole in Arizona on I-40 just outside of Flagstaff that I hit. HAHAHAHA!!! wow! Another cool vid dude! I Do wish though that everyone that turns these videos in would tell what the vehicle is. Sometimes it is on the screen, sometimes not. I wish I knew what that engine was that broke the timing chain.
haha dang! must be one pot hole lol. The timing chain one I had on the top of the screen but it's a Iveco Daily 3.0L. Don't have them where I live but I believe they're made from an Italian company.
My truck has several of these problems right now (fuel gage, disintegrated rear rotors, and leaky rear main.) I'm expecting the drive shaft to go at some point as well.
My theory is that this automaker found a way to save 5 cents of manufacturing cost per vehicle and also to marginally improve the vehicle's fuel economy by making the rotor weigh less, which included thinner cooling fins in the rotor casting... It's not the company's problem once the warranty runs out.
@@jdawson016 LOL, you have to REALLY ignore your vehicle to let this happen, probably wore the pads down to zero then the the backing plates chew up the rotor. My humble Chevy is still running on it's original, 15yr old rotors, I'm planning on ditching them next week.
You almost never see a rotor rot in half. 🤔 Usually the pads go to hell first and you end up replacing a rotor before that level of rust, and I live in northern New England so I'm kind of familiar with rust stuff. 😎
My son had an NSX with those silly rubber band tires and custom Tonka wheels. He blew out the sidewall and dented one of the wheels just driving into his driveway. The wheels came from Italy!
@@JustRolledIn drop in a bucket compared to all the other mods on that car. He went through three different suspensions until he finally like one that was an experimental version from a custom suspension shop. Two different exhaust systems and transmission setups, an experimental supercharger and injectors, and the list went on and on. He gave all that up finally to increase his guitar collection!
@@JustRolledIn I lost count. The last time I remember he had about 30 guitars. Being left handed, many of his guitars are one of a kind. He used to play lead guitar in a heavy metal band in college.
My theory is that the rig driver thought he was at the Quebec truck drags, missed a shift, tried to super trucker it back into gear with the clutch and didn't lift off the throttle. Whatever broke first, I'm betting he was HEAVY at the time, and full throttle. Probably should check the roof of the cab for dents considering what that probably sounded like.
I hit a curb once and broke off about a 4" section of wheel bead once. tire never lost air. drove it like that for quite a while, lol. Funny thing is, that must not be that uncommon. Later I bought a used car with the same problem. In that case, it must have happened a while ago because the tire on the broken rim was *really* bald. I guess the previous owner _really_ didn't want to buy a new rim.
Did the truck fall on a wedge drive shaft first? 😁 Another possibility: the shaft separated at the front while the vehicle was moving, hit a solid edge on the road, shattering the rear.
@@JustRolledIn My idiot neighbor did that. The pinion yoke was facing the back of the truck. 😂 The center case rotated on the axle tubes. It was beautiful 😂🤣
Those engines redline at something like 10K rpm in the Honda S2000's... If the car lost oil pressure even briefly while it was near redline, something like that could definitely result.

On the UJoints being broken, the only time I've ever encountered that was caused by rear wheels were prevented from turning. And the u joints were worn badly. Beyond that I have no idea, especially given the fact of the size of the truck
That driveshaft failure looks like maybe some axle hop and failed at the rear first then flailing driveshaft binding caused a cascade towards the front. Sent it a little too hard bud

THat rig must have been going fast when the tractor brake engaged. I dont know what truck that is, or how his brakes are lined, but looks like the secodary drives locked up, ripped the cardan, then the main drives locked suddenly and tangled up the shaft and pulled it from the trans? It could be he was overloaded and the drive shaft just snapped, but usually the cross shaft wouldnt snap, unless it was loaded heavy and weird too, like waaay on the secondary drive to snap that first. those sonic motors love to warp the intake manifolds, run super lean, and melt heads. we had one in our shop like that, after we installed a reman head, we found it had a broken ring, or something else wrong. super low compression on one cylinder, computer just shut down the injector on it and left it to dead miss. car turned into a huge money pit. and after we fixed it, the guy failed to replace his bald tires before winter and slid off an interstate and totaled it. pretty sure that motor is still made by deawoo... dont buy sonics people.

@@tmurph247 Damn, that sucks.

He cranked that truck up to warp drive, and took it for a trip down Rattlesnake Road! 🤣

Thanks Scott! And yes they are 😜
I'm guessing the transmission locked up on that truck... and the driver had his second axle locked at the time.
Could he have been overloaded and pulling an incline for that to happen?
wana know what's worse? i recognize the truck or atleast that damage. See it was early winter when it would get warm enough that snow and ice would melt then refreze covering everything in ice...that truck sat for a week then when it had to be used no one bothered to check if it was frozen and well.

They said everything was fine apparently *don't count me on it lol*. But no pistons hit valves as well. Maybe just really lucky? Kind of doubt it but wish they had more info on that clip.
That hole in the engine is fine, remember VW Beetles were air cooled too.

These are always fun, best sub I've done in ages.
Thanks for being here Barry!
Now that brake rotor. Never seen that before. Love to know how that happened.
corrosion and never, ever spending a dime on brake repairs.
Sad thing is that's on a newer body style f350 dually.
1:34 How? I'm not surprised by most of the things I see on this channel. See it every day IRL. I have never seen a rotor split like that though.
“Honey do you think there might be something wrong with the car?”
You almost never see a rotor rot in half. 🤔
Usually the pads go to hell first and you end up replacing a rotor before that level of rust, and I live in northern New England so I'm kind of familiar with rust stuff. 😎

In the netherlands we have road taxes they use to fix the roads. Saves money on wheels.
The claasic i hit a pot hole xD thats one hell of a pothole xD
Did the truck fall on a wedge drive shaft first? 😁
Another possibility: the shaft separated at the front while the vehicle was moving, hit a solid edge on the road, shattering the rear.

What is the engine being ask to do when they blow apart out both sides of the block ?
Those engines redline at something like 10K rpm in the Honda S2000's... If the car lost oil pressure even briefly while it was near redline, something like that could definitely result.
