- Join Zach & Virginia from Gate Crashers along with Todd Storm & Dylan Stompe from the California Dept. Of Fish & Wildlife for an interesting and informative morning of sturgeon fishing. Learn the basics of fishing roe & eel as we catch several sturgeon for Dylan to tag & collect data to better understand the status of Delta sturgeon. Dylan also tags several fish with reward tags that you can redeem for up to $150. (Currently, all new tags are worth $150!) Includes a special segment with Dylan, Zach and two teams from the CDFW conducting a regular trammel net survey to collect data and insert pit tags as well as reward tags. Nice video. Gatecrasher is one of the only boats that practices catch and release on these fish.
A lot of guys are doing this now. I hope one day some more of the 6 packs will follow the same approach. Few of those guys take limits everyday during the winter…
nice to see a green caught,ive caught a few of em down at the coast here in oregon,weird looking and kinda stink but still a cool fish,thanks for this episode

This is the only six pak boat doing the right thing and releasing all sturgeon caught on his boat. Too bad the only six pak boats are jus killing machines day in an out. These guys could care a less about the fishery they are just in it for money DFG needs to figure out that six pak boats are really just commercial fishing for sturgeon. DFG get a clue and have a zero limit for six pak boats

I agree, that should be true for a lot of charter fishing. Needs to be lower limits because its essentially commercial fishing. You pay a couple hundred bucks and buy sturgeon meat. People should be required to do catch and release on charters and can come back with their own boats then.
