Noticed a couple things I forgot to mention/need to edit
- Executioner’s Greataxe has the highest crit damage of all greataxes
- Butchering Knife is acquired from defeating Anastasia at Mt. Gelmir, not Consecrated Snowfield (you get an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone from the snowfield encounter)
- Also, Butchering Knife heals you for 1% HP per successful hit
Also: The Pickaxe Great Hammer shares powerstance with the Greataxes. The pierce damage pairs nicely with a Rusted Anchor for a first playthrough.
Pumkin warrior is another content creator known as Saneroot 😄 He does very cool cosplays builds ! 🔥
Daggers.
to correct you sir, executioners greataxe has the highest critdamage in the game bar none. it eclipses all the daggers.
@@lidudley3000 Misericorde has the highest crit damage multiplier, but the damage total of the Executioner's greataxe outclasses Misericorde's total damage.
Executioner's Greataxe has higher crit damage. So it does in fact have a special quality.
Put it on a guard counter or stance breaking build for PVE and watch the fun happen.
Put cragblade aow on it to boost crit damage
@@kunknown2340cragblade doesn't boost crit damage
Only physical and stance damage
@@arnnoodles8028 u right

When I heard my destination was a giant tree, I reached for a giant axe.
The butchering knife has always been either an axe or greataxe. Just a souls tradition. Every game has their own
all from a man eating npc invader too😹
it at least made sense with the original design
and then Demon Souls where its a hammer
the godrick axe is genuinely like the most badass weapon they included in a souls game. every time i poise break a mf with it i get an urge to scream I COMMAND THEE, KNEEL! at the top of my lungs
Agreed, it looks amazing and it just got buffed with hyper armour.
GG, in the Winged Greathorn fight. Nice to hear you liked my Pumpkin Warrior cosplay drip! 🎃
I'd like to axe Miyazaki a question; did he axe the Godfrey axe from being a great axe to a colossal weapon to differentiate it from the Godrick axe, or did he axe it because people kept axe-ing him which one was which? I can't really tell.

I think its axe
Because Godrick always strife to be better than Godfrey so he began grafting others into himself to look as big , but deep down you know godrick is small and have an inferiority complex, so his axe is a greataxe and not a colossal weapon, he'll always be inferior xD
There's actually 3 Omenkiller Cleavers in the game. One in Perfurmer's Grotto and 2 in Volcano Manor. The second one at Volcano Manor is in the "secret" room where Albinauric Mask is.
My guess is that we were originally supposed to get Miranda's Prayer from Perfurmer's Grotto(it just fits) but it was cut for some unknown reason and an extra Omenkiller Cleaver was thrown in as a filler reward.
Great video but one correction you actually get the butchering knife from killing Anastasia in mt.gelmir at the corpse stenched shack
I love the crescent moon axe with stormcaller because you can hit them with the first L2 and rollcatch with the R2 and it's so satisfying!
Thank you for these videos, Monk! your content inspired me to pick up Elden Ring pvp, and recently I've made a whole new character with the intentions for using in pvp! keep up the amazing work!
thanks for the kind words underboio and good luck in your pvp adventures
I love the executioners great axe just for the sole reason it looks like the dragon slayers axe, I put the lightning aow on it so It can be a bargin bin Dsa
Love you for this comment
@@elias_.1493 lmao appreciate it 😂 it’s my favorite thing to do lol it just makes sense
Well, thou art of passing skill. Warrior blood must run in thy veins.
You can get the butcherimg knife before on mountgelmir
A true warrior has no enemies, and with these Greataxes...
*...you shall vanquish them all.*
6:35 Actually, it has the highest base crit damage from any non-dagger weapon.
Rapier?
@@ccb1127 I stand corrected, *2ND* highest crit damage from any non-dagger weapon.
@heithwalton4696 sorry, I didn't mean to blatantly correct you. I knew the rapier was high, but I didn't know how high it was
@@ccb1127 Executioners Great Ax: 115
Rapier: 130
You're fine.
Executioner greataxe supposedly is hitting harder than any other weapon crit right now. Misericorde included
This is likely partly because of them buffing all critical dmg and executioner greataxe having a very high base motion value.
Objectively better and infinitely more informative than any half baked "top ten elden ring weapons" video ive seen on yt. Good shit man.
Got used to Fextra's weapon showcase, with a more serious mood and solid data, but it feels relaxing seeing some jokes and pvp, along with a great display nevertheless. Loving the series, Monk, can't wait for my favorite class, heavy thrusting swords, as well regular thrusting, and even a "seal-class" vid, if you dare! XD Keep it up!
I forgot that the backstep attack on Greataxes look like that and it makes me sad because that'd look sick as a running attack but instead its stuck on backsteps, which were allowed to be good in DS2 and then never again lmao.
Try back stepping towards a player with no lock on then preform the back step attack towards them. Catches people off guard.
I guess reverse backsteps don't exist lol
i love the real time recognition of the cool backstep attack
Would have loved a little cameo from the Pickaxe on the Rusted Anchor.
I know it's a bit farfetched but that is my favourite combo in a new game, both very easy early drops, both all pierce damage and despite the Pickaxe technically being a Greathammer it powerstances with Greataxes 😁
God Bless you, Monk. I'm just getting into this game, and I really appreciate your input. I love watching invasions, and I'm prepared to get my a** handed to me.
Cruel of you to give ‘em all *the axe* like that…
Yes! I can't wait to watch.

Butcher Knife is dropped by Anastasia at Mt Gelmir, not Snowfields. You get an Ancient Dragon stone from her in snowfields.
Axe of Godrick carried my first run. Accidentally dumped almost everything into Endurance and Vigor so a nice easy aoe somber weapon early on was great.
I love the way longhaft looks, my favorite by far but I like the Cresent moon move set better...sigh...
interesting fun fact: you can actually get 3 great omenkiller cleavers per ng cycle! there are 2 omenkillers in volcano manor that drop them, one in the town square and another where you get the albinauric mask.
Greataxes were one of the weapon classes I never liked using in any souls game but after many patches I found myself really liking the dual greataxe moveset in Elden Ring. Thay offer crazy damage with around the same attack speed as a two handed colossal weapon and you are getting great mix ups with the crouch attack, running L1 and normal one handed R2. It allowed my to beat dual spear, greatspear and and straight sword users without feeling like I was at a major disadvantage.
correction for the great omenkiller cleaver: you can actually get 3 per run. There are 2 omenkiller in Volcano Manor who drop it and another one in the perfumers grotto (bossdrop) in Altus.
Not sure what you can do with this information, but I found it rather notable, that this unique weapon shows up 3 times per game.
Good to know detail about the Executioner's Greataxe, is that when accounting for both Crit scaling and flat damage of the weapon, it's the weapon that will give you the most damage in a single parry or backstab. - Misericorde in axe form.
Also, unless it was patched out, the Butchering Knife has a nice combo with Prelate's Charge, since the knife passively heals you a little chip of HP every time it hits, and Prelate's Charge is basically a fast moving pizza cutter sort of "death by a thousand little chips of damage", so it really feels like a budget Blasphemous Blade when you play it like that, in case you don't like the yellow paint look of the "gold" on that sword, mixed with all the tiny arm tendrils.
The Black Gargoyle weapons (save for the Black Blade) feel like weapons that were left unfinished to me. I mean, you could've given the Black Blades, the Black Axe and the Black Halberd versions of their Ashes of War that also cause the Destined Death effect that Corpse Wax Cutter on the Black Blade had. It's honestly disappointing how it seems that Fromsoftware gave the Black Blade a unique skill and then just completely forgot about the other three.
Crescent Moon Axe is my go to weapon for mid level invasions with my bleed dude, sweeping r2 and rollcatch god r1
Another (sort of) unique thing about lightning slash as an ash of war is that its one of the few that if you light attack out of will skip the first light attack in your chain and go straight to the second, so it actually works really well with the twinblade talisman that buffs the last hit of your R1 combo by 45%, since it applies the lightning buff and also puts you closer to the buffed last hit. Works especially good on colossals since they only have 3 attacks in their light attack chain, so you only need to Lightning slash, attack, then attack again and that last one receives the twinblade talisman buff.
Thank you I never know witch one to upgrade
I dual wield butchers knives and Sword Dance ash of warrior, fun simple build that surprisingly I've not lost a single colliseum bout with *knock on wood*
The unique butchering knife heavy attack, looks like the wind up for the lightning ram ash of war.
Used to get a lot of kills in invasions before Arenas were a thing with that knowledge.
The counter to lightning ram is to dodge sideways or attack before it can start, but if you do that into the heavy attack you get immediately punished.
The counter to the heavy attack is just to stay out of range, but in that case lightning ram is likely to get you.
Basically you can bamboozle your opponent to do exactly what they shouldn't
An absolutely evil combo is sacred butcher knife with prelates charge and blood flame blade, is builds up bleed and each tick from prelates charge heals you as well as the fire trail left on the ground
In my opinion as a great axe enjoyer the moveset specializes in trades out of the r1 chain, for this reason the anchor really stands out in combination with the spear talisman, since pierce damage is the best damage for that kind of strategy thanks to how it works with "counter attacks". Seriously try out the anchor and just do delayed light attacks, use the whiffs to bait them into going in only to interrupt their punish with a delayed follow up or at least be very likely to win the trade, it works surprisingly well.
It would be funny if the rusty anchor had scarlet rot or poison because of, well, the rust
If you use the heavy affinity on the executioner’s greataxe it’s literally the strongest weapon in the game and does the most poise damage.
Insta sub for that glorious rhyme at the start.
I use the gargoyle greatswords to powerstance poison build. I use those ones because the wax looks cool imo
I can't wait for the spears video
Cragblade looks so cool on the gargoyle ace
I yelled out loud when you hit the lightning slash + guillotine R2 combo!
Anchor with sword dance is really good
Love this videos
I love using the Executioner’s Greataxe with Cragblade in PvE. break their poise with charge r2 or guard-counter and just *eviscerate* their health bar with the 130 crit.
also I will never not laugh at Sword Dance on the Rusted Anchor
The guy you were fighting at the end had discount rivers of blood
monk liking the excutioners greataxe is a major dub 😊
I think that the horn needed unique heavys, a charge into a slam attack like the enemies with it use. Then make the attacks do pierce damage to synergize with the situational damage buff vibes.
One thing to add is that the great axe moveset on horseback is significantly better the UGS or Great hammers.
15:00 OOOOOOOOO dude that's Saneroot, he makes cosplay builds on RUclips!
Ah the rusted anchor my beloved... This weapon got me through my first successful run of Elden ring and is a complete beast in my opinion.Just deletes bosses. (Also Lion's Claw was the ash of war I also used on it. Well that and vaccum slice.)
Executioner’s Greataxe is a twin to the Dragonslayer’s Greataxe from Dark Souls 3, and looks perfect with the Lightning Slash Ash of War.
the return of Disco Crab from another video is crazy
The winged greataxe is the biggest debuff in the game. And very useful in boss fights. I use it while im cooping. Pull agro and set the cloud in front of boss while team is buffing. You help a ton while not beating the boss for them. Perfect copp weapon imo
You should do thrusting swords, they're truly underrated
The gargoyle's black blade feels like the only finished one with the corpse wax cutter
facts, and it’s surprisingly good
I’m ngl I’m a katana enjoyer specifically the Uchigatana goat but when I picked up a great axe for the first time I felt like was absolute giant slayer
The original great axe was the wepon I used to clear the entire game it has a dear place in my heart love to great axe
“Not just for me, not just for you, but for our boy, Hourax Loux.” Best intro ever
The great of all axes!
The Longhaft axe actually has a rather unique attack after using one of the roars it has, which is similar to the attack the misbeggoten do.
The heavy attacks with the Butchering Knife also are different when onehanding.
Crescent moon Lowkey fav weapon in game.. for both PvP and PvE
An arguement could be made for the "black" weapons that they could apply same effect as oil pots? Therefore increasing fire damage abilities if one was to wield a flaming gargoyle weapon in off hand or just flaming weapon in general. But they seem to be missing...anything
I got my butchering knife from mt gelmir and a somber ancient stone from the consecrated snowfield.
Good day to u sir monk
My favourite is the executioner's greataxe. At 99 strength with heavy affinity it does a lot of damage lol. Fine weapon
Axe of Godrick on top baby!!!
Pumkin warrior is another content creator known as Saneroot 😄 He does very cool cosplays builds ! 🔥
The executioners greataxe is absolutely awesome
I like the idea of using poison on the rusty anchor because…. Well…. It’s rusty
Also on an unrelated note: the executioners great axe looks extremely similar to the great axe the dragon slayer armor uses in dark souls 3
anchor with wild strikes slaps
Dual executioners greataxe is my favorite build since this game released
My favorite part is when monk said "it's chopping time" and chopped all over the lands between
You know, they might be planning a destined death DLC latter on. Might be why the gargoyle stuff is unfinished.
I dont actually like the roar heavies because the first two can proc a counterattack from an enemy with higher poise. Just doesnt do as much stagger either, from my experience.
I fucking love the rusted anchor. Put wild strikes with frost affinity on that thing and it's literally unstoppable. it's great xD
Black gargoyle weapons have a unique hit sparkle it glows red and black
I thought it had destined death but it didn't.
ALRIGHT, I SAY AGAIN, DID YOU GUYS KNOW WITH LIGHT CURVED SWORDS AND WITH LIGHT/HEAVY THRUSTING SWORDS IF YOU ROLL DURING A HEAVY YOU WILL DO A DODGE ATTACK
The butchering knife is actually found near volcano manor
I don't care if it's a dex weapon, I will use the butchering knife on str/fth
Anything's a strength weapon with the right whetknife.
So does the anchor actually have a wider hitbox like it appears to be? That can be pretty nice if it does.
note: at very high soul level, the longhaft does the highest damage of all greataxes on a quality build
Crescent moon axe, my beloved, has been destroying everything in front of me. I love smashing people out of retaliation distance
what do you think of the Rotten greateaxe? is it worth to use?
Every reaper video gonna be a really long one
did you know the crescent moon axe has been with Fromsoft since kingsfield and every souls game to date?
Samurai's also wielded axes
But i had two omen killer that drop that in vulkano manor one is next to the alinaurick nask and the other one in the houses
Executioners axe is godly for a parry build
Was waiting for Godfrey greataxe, then remembered it is a collosal weapon
Hey gamer, love your vids, but you did actually miss something about the exe greataxe. Like others have said, it has a higher crit stat, but unlike most weapons that have a crit boost (aside from daggers of course) instead of having 110, it has a monstrous 115. This combined with it being a great axe causes it to deal absolutly BONKERS crit damage reserved typically for daggers only. Add on a dagger charm and this beast will likely one shot any player you get a parry/backstab on. Plus, lets be real, it looks cool as hell
I wonder how good dual butcher could be? Testing required.
2:32 Man, just before release I saw clip of some eurogamer video where he was riding torrent wielding one of these and decided immediately that THAT, I WANT THAT, I tried to ask around discords of how to get it but people didnt seem to know so I just had to find out. Then when I saw an exile warrior in stormveil wielding that so I immediately decided to farm 2 of them and proceeded to only level strength, vigor and some end for the rest of the game and abuse jump attacks. Unknowingly I had crafted one of the most busted non-bleed related builds lol.
It took WEEKS if not a full month before fextralife (ew) even added it on the list of greataxes.
Nostalgic moment here sorry whoever read this lol
Hoarah Loux joke was perfect.
Ay yes, my favorite axe, a weapon beloved by "popeye, Seafarer"™️ . The rusted anchor. ⚓️
