I'm used to listening to Japanese so I could grasp the exact lyrics quite easily but reading the transcripted ones helped me understand some things better, like "ichigo no yoru wo"... Bc at first I was like "wtf is strawberry night ?" 😂 (first meaning coming to mind for Ichigo is Strawberry, not 1 and 5, like it's used in the song), or Kami being used as hair, vs God (like the band) or paper, all 3 being "kami" but with different kanjis 😂

@@dicodec I say this anytime his name comes up. I truly believe that Su has the same level of charisma, stage presence, and ability to play with & control the crowd as Freddie did. She is just so good at such a young age, it is absurd, but in such a good way!
@MrOsclasses I can see it. Commanding the crowd like she does at her age is something only the greats can do. Of course she is one of them.
This is Su's 16th birthday meaning that the other girls are only 14and a half years old. Can you imagine standing in front of a crowd that big when you are that age. The courage demonstrated by these girls are probably what grabbed those of us that got into it early as much as the music itself. She's just fantastic. NIGHTWISH, BAND MAID AND BABY METAL are the best bands in the world right now and NIGHTWISH have been around since about 1996, and so it just goes to show that a young band can be right up there with the very best.
Its absolutely impressive. They not only go up onstage. They command the audience and are completely natural. Not just anyone can do that.

"Akatsuki" is a great ballad by Babymetal. Actually, it's just Su and the band while Moa and Yui are backstage taking a break. Su absolutely kills it.

@@dicodec Also, "Yava" is a pretty unique track by them, definitely recommend checking that one out. Sounds like it couldve made it onto one of the Tony Hawks Pro Skater soundtracks, at least thats what i think of when i listen to it. If you decide to check it out, make sure its the video with the pink border around the thumbnail

@@dicodec There is a live compilation but if you can do it without getting dinged by youtube, it was their opener for the legend of 1997 concert and the crowd shots are hype as hell and the performance doesn't seem as disjointed.

@@dicodec Dec 2017 was the last time before July 2019. I don't know if you're aware but 2018 was not their happiest year (Mikio Fujioka RIP and YUI not attending and later leaving the group) and were more focused on the dark side.
At 5:44 of your video is one of my favorite shots of Su-Metal. It shows her beauty, passion and hard work all at once.
This song is generally top three among fan polls. Babymetal is interesting in that do to the different genres Babymetal does the fan favorites can vary wildly but the top three are generally
1. Megitsune
2.Ijame, Dame, Zetti
3. Headbanger
My personal favorite is always going to be No Rain No Rainbow but that’s a ballad piece and I’m a sucker for ballads the singer crushes emotionally. Which she does in the Legend S rendition on the official channel
NRNT is a very good song, i think all the ballads have the best soloes, like the double solo on akatsuki is the best in my opinion. It's weird tho that gimme chocolate doesnt reach top 3, being the most watched video on youtube and its top on spotify too.

Dicodec they have two technically, NRNR is a straight up ballad while ther is another song that gets turned into a quasi ballad. Akasuki which is the normal song, and Akasuki unfinished. Unfinished is the same song but you strip away the instrumentals and it’s just Su singing to a backing piano
Akasuki is probably the most popular of Su’s solo songs
@@dicodec They have quite a few actually. Akatsuki from the first album, No Rain, No Rainbow and from the second album, and then im not sure if they are really qualified but Amore from the 2nd album and then the Trio of: Starlight/Shine/Arkadia from the newest album. Starlight is a tribute song for Fujioka Mikio, the guitarist that died while stargazing. these are all fully or mostly Su's solo songs and they have the best soloes ever.
Arttu Viitaniemi Gimmie chocolate is a weird song within the fan base. A lot of fans got into the group because of GC but it was spread around more for how weird it was, rather than it being some great song.
People absolutely do love it but some don’t and I think it depends entirely on your temperament. That’s why I think when people show Babymetal to others, gimme chocolate isn’t always the best choice. Depending on the person.
That being said I don’t remember how the list goes after three but GC is still up there

There's been a few occasions where Su has handed the mic off to Moa(and a couple times to Yui i think, but those videos are harder to find) to sing the last parts of the song. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already. Most youtube videos title it as "Moabanger"

This song is about a girl going to a concert at her 15th birthday, but the imagery is actually a tribute to X Japan's Yoshiki. In some performances of this song they wear neck braces just like he does (there was one time even the audience had them lmao) and in the end they collapse after playing a gong which is a thing he actually did one time because his drumming style is so intense and he headbangs a lot to the point of having spinal damage and needing surgery (one of the reasons why X don't put much new stuff). Babymetal's producer Kobametal is a huge fan of X Japan and put a lot of references and tributes into BM's earlier stuff.
Su-metal solos Akatsuki and No Rain No Rainbow are tributes to Kurenai and Endless Rain, respectively, and you guys should check them out ;)

'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!' was one of their earliest hits.
I was thrilled when they brought it back for the 2019 tour, and I finally got to hear it live at the LA Forum.

Some of the choreography makes more sense in context.

This and the official MV are my favorites. you should check the official MV, Su is 14 and Yui and Moa are 12! The song is about a 15 yo girl going to her first metal concert. It is not biographical as Su was 14, besides they don't attend concerts, THEY are the concert!!

Wow I'm pretty surprised you hadn't done this song yet. Surely one of my favorites and of everyone else. This song is still in nearly every Babymetal setlist even today. Legend Metal Galaxy version on January 2020 was great. There is also a very pretty interesting version at Legend M on 2019 where Moa sings the song instead of Suzuka.
Really? People were requesting the other BM songs we reacted to a little more frequently so we just rolled with it. It was definitely top 3 though. It's a dope song for sure. I would love to see those other live versions.

To be able to listen properly to the full range of the instruments, the studio version is the best one.
No fan cam can get all the bass and drums properly.
The good thing about lives, tho, is that it proves w/o a doubt that Su is a Metal Queen of vocals!

There are some clips where 20-year old Moametal is singing the last part after the instrumental, where Su gave the mic to her and they were all bowing to Moa. It was during her birthday :) She freaking looks amazing there (her smirk!!!) and sounds amazing as well!

Only for their 15th and 20th birthdays, because they are special in Japan. 15 is when you end your compulsary education, 20 is coming of age, when you can finally vote and drink. But the special versions of the song are really good, especially the one from Moa's 20th last year.

Oh also there is a really emotional tribute to Mikio Fujioka done by the Kami band called "Kami Band - The Hill of Wisteria" Where the other guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura plays Mikio's solo with Mikio's guitar and is in tears the entire time.

You've done almost all of their most popular songs, i went to see them early 2020 in Finland, they did 12 songs total (+future metal opener but it was from track and not played live), 7 from the new album as it was metal galaxy tour, and 5 older songs, Gimme chocolate, Karate, Megitsune, Headbanger and Road of Resistance. most of the latter 5 are played in their every concert, sometimes missing one or two of those.
That's awesome that you got to see them! Sounds like an epic show.

Not quite sure which BM song is next honestly 🤔
Most people have already hit the finer points of the song, but not sure if this part got touched upon. They typically change up how they do the breakdown. Some shows have a call & response with Yui & Moa, but this is by far my favorite with the giant fire extinguishers. It's like Su just set the crowd on fire with her singing and they have to put them out. Such a great theatrical piece to an already great song.

it is one of those songs where the musicians take an instrument through a journey, and the listeners can actually follow them individually throughout the song. it's crazy to be able to do that.

I've always felt this was Babymetal's tribute to Rammstein. The chuggy guitars, the synth, the smoke 'pyro'... "bang bang!"

In the longshots with sound and smoke machines it makes the stage look like an alien spaceship has landed. Like a Metal Close Encounters.
Interesting 🤔 had not paid super close attention to the stage itself but with all that going on I can picture it haha.

I'm still hoping someone will do a double reaction to Akatsuki. Akatsuki black night with the band, and then Akatsuki (unfinished) where she does it with the piano. It's one of my favorite Su-Metal solos.
