  • HAWK 250 VIDEO LINKS
    So all the links that were promised are below, here is a quick little blurb on my hawk 250. 4,778 miles at the time of this video, my hawk is a 2019, it has a 110 main jet. Has lots of improvement mods, but no performance mods. Everything I have done to the bike has been documented here on RUclips, check out my hawk 250 playlist below to see everything I’ve done to the bike! There are also lots of hill climbing and riding videos in the playlist as well.
    At the time of filming this video I had
    Miles: 4,778
    Hours: 159.0 (keep in mind I put this hour meter on the hawk at roughly 375 miles)
    AIR BOX MODIFICATION VIDEO: coming soon
    Here is the link to the top end from eBay, again i recommend buying factory parts. Although this top end seem fairly decent other than the few things I pointed out in the video: www.ebay.com/i...

    Hey just wanted to thank everyone for all the love and support! Here are a couple videos that should be watched in series, these videos are absolutely critical to the longevity of the hawk 250. As you guys know the rings got toasted on my bike because of the air box, these videos go though the repairs as well as the proper modification of the air box to prevent engine failure in the future. As always, thanks for watching!

    Reusing head gaskets, for years and years my dad and i had used over and over lawnmower head gaskets, we just cleaned them, painted with Hi temp paint, usually white, but anything will work, we used gaskets that outlast two lawnmowers, about 20years, and the gasket and engine was still good!

    The Denco iridium spark plug had to replace my Spark brand spark plug because it is best to have a lot more resistor resistance in the spark plug and if you don't have the right modified the electrical system then the stator coils magneto was all burn up because I ride fast. The new stator coils had replaced my Hawk 240cc then it made glad that it run good after I sand off the black paint off from my twin tube cradle and my mount of no rubber bush to my engine crankcase block has much better ground. The new alternate type magneto is charging my Battery. Before it didn't charge and it pull me off in the middle of the road.

    Great job. Enjoy the video I watched the whole thing. I would like to say that I just purchased the same bike it’s a 2015 model it’s got 5 miles. it was used. Clean title got it from an older lady. She said it was her sons. He was too scared to drive it. So I change the spark plug change. The battery does not turn over. By the way, there was a little water inside with a spark plug was at. What should I do take the top and a part and reassemble. I’m pretty handy with lawnmowers the stand on ones as well as the push ones and then walk behind. Thanks hope to hear from you soon.

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  Год назад

      Water in the top end is never something you want to see, however it does happen. More than likely it’s probably just moisture from
      Sitting, my recommendation would be to put just a little bit of oil down the spark plug hole and turn the bike over with the starter. Make sure that your spark plug is not in the bike when turning it over and clearing the oil out. Once that is done re install the spark plug and run it. It should be just fine. Thanks for watching!

I think a lot about 19 inch rear tire for cheap Shinko and street spiked wheel and replace the original 18 inch wheel. The Kawasaki sports bike have the aluminum rims color black and he put them on His black motorcycle Hawk 240. I watched it in RUclips. Where with my Honda front fender aluminum alloy but I had to drill 4 more holes and finally the Honda fender color black fits to my forks.

    Newbie question perhaps but... How does oil get to cylinder walls, splashing, oil vapors? And what kind of oil pump this engine has?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 года назад

      Great questions! There’s a couple ways cylinder walls get lubed, just depends on the engine design, there is a thing called a oil squirter, it looks like a big fishing hook with a small hole in the end, it physically squirts oil onto the bottom of the piston and cylinder walls. Another common way to lube the cyl is a oil fling, oil can be flung off the crank shaft, a lot of times you will see a oil fling on smaller Briggs and Stratton rods, it looks like a protruding pice that hangs from the bottom of the rod. I’m not entirely sure what kind of oil pump the hawk has but it’s more than likely some kind of gear pump.. thanks for watching!

    How do you know if you need a top or bottom end build? Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to buy a new engine on ebay? I loved my Hawk because of its ease of working on. Thanks!

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 года назад

      It’s really hard to put into words the symptoms of top or bottom end, once you have so much experience it’s really a sixth sense. It is far cheaper to replace parts in an engine especially if you can do the work yourself. There are exceptions to this, if the entire engine truly needs rebuilt or has serious issues beyond reasonable repair, sometimes it is more cost effective to replace the entire engine. The hawk is a rare exception, it’s unreal that you can get an entire engine for $500. Most engines for motorcycles, dirt bikes, and four-wheelers are upwards of $4,000-$5,000 and up depending on what the engine and unit is. I agree it’s a very easy bike to work on, that’s probably the best part of the bike! Hopefully this give you some insight, thank for watching!

      If I remember correctly, anything above/around 90 ish psi for compression is good for the hawk. It runs like a top at 90 psi compression. @@channinbell8070 txpowersports can get you a factory hawk wheel, or the better option is to get a used Japanese wheel off of eBay. Your looking for an 18” that’s about 215 category wide (really you can pretty much go with any almost any width rim here, just make sure it’s not obviously too wide) the most important part is to make sure it has the same amount of spoke holes as the hub on your bike (you may need different length spokes but those can be bought and upgraded as well. Hopefully this helps, and thanks for watching!

    Most of the parts on eBay are from same factories that make the engines.

      Sounds like you may have a warped rotor, I would ride it for a couple hundred miles and see if it goes away. If not, jack your bike up and spin the front wheel, watch the rotor as it spins and see if it wobbles. Hopefully this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Man I bought a torque wrench and mine only goes to 20. I can’t get away with only tightening them to 20 ft pounds can I?
    Edit: there is an parts store in my town so I can’t just go get one

      So there is a guy under the name hawk250parts on there and he is your best bet. He’s really good with selling individual parts for the hawk. Otherwise you will need to go to txps. Hopefully this helps, thanks for watching!

    Anyone notice at 20:20 the color of the connecting rod, blue on the small end, where the piston goes, most likely has a shot out bushing that the piston pin goes thru, Mr. shade tree mechanic didn't notice, most of these guys only think they know what there doing, re using the head gasket and all..

      @@goodolboys713 words have multiple meanings. Seriously Google it.... Even if you just Google oil galley you're immediately corrected to oil gallery the first few results. But if you Google oil galley or gallery it's explained on several sites. Also if you look at the definitions of the two words the third or fourth definition of gallery is a long hallway or passage. Nowhere under the definitions of galley does it say anything related to any sort of passage. I'm a professional mechanic with over 30 years of experience and I've been through this many many times.

      @@DoRC lol! Mechanics are not normally literature experts. I have over 23 years of mechanical experience, Iv had plenty of experience of all kinds of mechanical bologna over the years, it’s all I do. Can you call it a galley or gallery I think either way you want to say it is fine. I’ve looked it up it looks like the definition for both words are exactly the same. It’s personal preference. I like the way galley sounds more than gallery. Galley sounds correct to me when set allowed. Again in my opinion it’s totally up to personal preference.
