12:50-12:58 I'm curious... Does Super Mario Land not count as a mainline Mario game? Does Super Mario Run also not count as a mainline Mario game? I've actually seen some debate about the latter one and I've seen people conclude it is mainline Mario, despite being a mobile game. Still rather surprising to see playable in this game, though. Excellent analysis, you managed to point out and suggest things that I haven't seen in other analysis videos. I'm especially excited by what the free-roaming areas are for, plus all the new NPCs and their roles in this game! I've also seen it suggested that those evil cloud enemies are connected to Bowser, because Bowser's Castle and Bowser Jr. give off similarly colored dark clouds. I've even seen it suggested that the clouds are the TRUE villains of this game, which would kind of make sense, cloud's being something of a natural enemy to a kingdom of flowers, it's like the Flower Fields chapter of Paper Mario. Man, I would love it if that was the twist with Bowser in this game, for once, a new villain or antagonist in a mainline Mario game besides Bowser, but I won't hold my breath on that one. I get the feeling this is just a weird thing that either Bowser is using to gain power, or something he unwittingly got mixed up in, like the Black Paint in Paper Mario: Color Splash or Fury Bowser in Bowser's Fury. Still something to think about, though! Speaking of things to think about, here's one last tidbit, in case you weren't aware of it: there's this on person called "Zippo" who talked about a 2D Mario game in development by Nintendo EPD in August of 2022 and again in December of 2022. Here's what they said they knew: -It will be it's own thing. The "New Super" moniker is being thankfully retired. -It will feature a new art style that will take some people by surprise. -It's "very far" along in development. Might be completed soon. -Online multiplayer will be included. -Will feature the return of Foreman Spike. -Will release during the 2023/2024 fiscal year. -It's been in development for over three years, and development should, or has just about wrapped up. -Takashi Tezuka and Hiroyuki Kimura, who are longtime 2D Mario veterans, are once again serving as producers for this title. -Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad are your playable characters this time around. If Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the game they're talking about, while it is weird that they omitted Daisy and Yoshi among the playable characters, everything else is completely accurate as far as we know. Maybe Foreman Spike will be a playable character or a new kind of boss? Who knows at this point.
I think the crown appears on the player that is holding the little wiggler on their back, because he seems like a prince and he has a crown on his head.
It’s funny how the mario movie kinda forshadowed that peach would be playable. Cause in the movie she was super badass and help mario complete the different levels
Look at the eyes on Bowser's castle. It looks like Bowser is being hypnotized/mind controlled. So maybe Bowser isn't the true villain. I can't wait to see Bowser's new design though 👀
I'm anxious to try it regardless of how it looks. My family and I still play NSMB, SMBU and SM3DW regularly. A new title to add to the collection will be fun. I'm just really hoping it's not a shared life pool like SM3DW, cause my kids die a lot and burn through all the lives ridiculously fast.
Unfortunately, it appears to be shared lives again. There is only one life counter, even when there are more than one player on screen. I hate shared lives, and don't get why they exist.
The more this game takes from the DKC returns pair of games the better. Luckily it seems they've taken quite a bit of inspiration already. sad that it wasn't the 6th DKC game but this is still very exciting.
After seeing Princess Daisy (Yay!) in this game, I definitely want this! So much detail! I've been playing on New Super Mario Bros. DS (2006) and Wii (2009) and I still play those games! It's also worth noting that she is a playable character in Super Mario Run for the iPad (2017). But I hope this game can be played on a TV Screen like NSMB Wii and U as I'm not keen on the Nintendo Switch being a handheld device. Since the Super Mario Bros. Movie, my interest in Mario dramatically increased
Daisy is so inflected with Arabian culture and the blue-eyed Umayyad caliphate, because Gunpei yokoi was heavily involved with the Yume Kojo project and associating fantasy with 1001 Nights' Dreams. 'Sarasa' itself comes from the fabric imported by the Portuguese, and it is a floral pattern the we know better as calico. It's suggested by some, that Scheherazade was particularly abducted for her striking features, such as blonde hair and blue eyes. Meanwhile Hayao Miyazaki based Nausicaä partially on a Greek myth adn in his own mind considers the character a direct fanfic expy, as stated in his interview on the Nausicaä manga. Miymaoto could feel equally invovled with Toei's Journey to the West, and it might not end with only that movie. This is not unfamiliar territory either to Alice in Wonderland, the hookah used by the centipede that Wiggler is probably based on, is of middle-eastern origin. It is still strongly associated with Russia which inherited it as well as some architctural curio, like the onion domes of Orthodox curches coming from the Islamic domes. The Kodansha Manga that Nintendo was more hands-on with than Super Mario-kun, had a recurring theme of brainwashing that carried over to Tatanga and Wario in the advertising circuit, though I'm not sure it was part of the games, jsut this broader marketing guideline. I can see them going back to that, especailly since some of the Kodansah Manga inspired the Mario Movie (at least through Miyamoto's personal ideas sticking since then), and we could see Tatanga coming back to brainwash Bowser. Or who knows, ACTUALLY Wario, there could be a larger reason they wanted to use Foreman Spike as a safe option in the movie, who doesn't have other entanglements.
New toads here with long heads resemble the original ancillary toad designs ike in the Japanese Mario OVA, which also featured a... dog... resembling Wiggler.
I feel like Yoshi is going to be more of a side mode, or easy mode. If you look at the level Toad was playing, That could look pretty difficult for a newcomer, So I think Yoshi would be a beginner character for newcomers. So essentially Little Brother Mode.

Here's what they said they knew:
-It will be it's own thing.
12:55 the first mainline Mario game that had daisy was super Mario land
I think the crown appears on the player that is holding the little wiggler on their back, because he seems like a prince and he has a crown on his head.
It’s funny how the mario movie kinda forshadowed that peach would be playable. Cause in the movie she was super badass and help mario complete the different levels
maybe nintendo is making new designs for toads just to mess with paper mario fans
Look at the eyes on Bowser's castle. It looks like Bowser is being hypnotized/mind controlled. So maybe Bowser isn't the true villain. I can't wait to see Bowser's new design though 👀
Or his castle is doing something to the world.
I'm honestly a little tired of the possessed plotlines.
The icon on the left side at the bottom right corner could be the map of all the worlds, but that’s just my guess
@@mustacheman529 at least you can no longer jump on other players
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I ENJOYED JUMPING ON PEOPLE
Sorry I lost my cool for a sec
would you be interested in doing a pikmin video because its got everyone talking at the moment. so many clues and exciting oddities.
The more this game takes from the DKC returns pair of games the better. Luckily it seems they've taken quite a bit of inspiration already. sad that it wasn't the 6th DKC game but this is still very exciting.
great analysis!
Greetings, you misinformed at 16:07 there are push blocks in Super Mario 64, they are in wet dry world and bowser in the sky and they can be pushed.
I think the crown is related to who has that wiggler thing on their back
Honestly it looks like the developers took inspiration from DK Tropical Freeze and that's freaking awesome.
Can't wait for SMM3!
I just realized the game is going to release on my birthday!!!!!
The space for a possible power up only has multiple slots in a few parts. As if it was upgradable to allow more? Most of the time it’s one only…
I think blue toad is playable as you can see a goomba with blue toads hat in the box art
Is Super Mario Land not considered part of the mainline Mario games?
You can do the jump in the air like ather 2D Mario games!
is it just me or is everyone ignoring the fact there is no time limit
Hey one of the best theories youtubers
What if mario and luigi become elephants, peach and daisy become rhinos, toads become hippos, and yoshis become alligators?
Maybe instead of 3 10 coins per level, you would get a power up or something if you collect them
12:55 casually forgets about super mario land
I feel like Yoshi is going to be more of a side mode, or easy mode. If you look at the level Toad was playing, That could look pretty difficult for a newcomer, So I think Yoshi would be a beginner character for newcomers. So essentially Little Brother Mode.
Yeah like nabbit
@@Rarkss nabbit, but without being completely patronizing. It's accessibility disguised as fanservice, it's brilliant.
@@MochaRitz yeah
The overworld style reminds me of Kirby star allies
What about the Bossfights
