    Hams lol . I have many hobbies. Cb'ing is one of them. It is fun to keydown at shootouts, or to outpower a mud duck even at the base. Yes, FUN!!! Actually, why invest in any hobby if it isn't fun. Many Hams don't even consider themselves hobbiest. They take themselves too seriously. It is the same in my other hobbies. Street racing cars....why spend all that money? again FUN. Other car collectors, enthusiast etc hate drag racers, but to each his own. Its my money anyway.

    when you walk around at night and you glow in the dark,take 2 of these and call me in the morning

    • @tomletlow1258
      @tomletlow1258 2 года назад

      I have never glowed in the dark. But was tuning the tubes on one of my rigs and could feel my body temperature rise. And my wife got to witness mice go into convulsions When I would hit the switch. Low swr, well grounded and not exceptionally high power.

    They are supposedly testing an RF amplifier on the other end... first you see the S around 3.5 with the regular 5 to 10W, then power is jacked up to 400W (S9) then jacked up again around 2KW (S9+60) on CB..

    I agree and I'm a CBer don't get my wrong I like a little extra power but come on. There radios are pushing all dirty watts and bleeding all over the bands.

    I am a ham and don't mind this whole Cb big power thing at all. I am not so much of a snob that I need to knock someone elses hobby to feel like mine is betrter. BTW I also am a CBer since about 1972 so know a lot about them and amps. I can also say that apms on cb are fine with me since there is no real reason for them or the 11m band to be regulated anymore, or they need to change the name from CITIZENS band to something like The Governments band.

    That's 747's a.c. mobile setup. I've seen it hit 70kw on a bird 43. The paint on top the suburban started cracking and peeling up. It's no joke.

      1 horsepower = 746W. How many horsepower does his engine have again?

    • @pdq340
      @pdq340 8 лет назад +1

      70KW = 93.8 hp. The wimpiest small block Chev V8 can still produce about 175 hp. Of course, the vehicle likely weighs in at 3 tons... I bet he doesn't try to transmit and pass at the same time!

    • @WA4OSH
      @WA4OSH 8 лет назад

      So his amplifier is 100% efficient? I don't buy it.

  • @glenwoofit
    @glenwoofit 14 лет назад

    Lol, Thats some Amp Setup! You just need to get a 100 foot mast on the roof and you'll be able to hear all the people that can hear you using all that power!

    What's funny is that each S-unit at the receiver costs 6 dB more signal at the receiver. 1W = 30dBm. 10W = 40dBm. 100W = 50dBm. and 1,000W = 60dBm. The 10dB gain from 100W to 1,000W (or 1KW to 10KW) does not even result in 2 S-units increase at the receiver (12dB).

      Furthermore, if he yells at someone across the globe, he probably won't hear a reply as the other station is too weak...

    • @g8ymw
      @g8ymw 7 лет назад

      They obviously don't realise if you cannot hear the other station, you cannot work them.
      Pay more attention to the receive side, ie antenna SYSTEM
      But then, I suppose that the car's heater is rubbish and they need to keep their feet warm

    @Aviator14 why does a ham need 1500? Why does a car need 300HP? Why does a car need to go faster than 75? Why do gun owners need auto's with 32 round clips? Why make a TV over say 32"'s? I think its human nature for bigger, better, faster, plus, many of us like to take our toys to the limit and see how far we can go with it. Then again, it might be just plain fun.

      The antennas on my mom's truck we're rated for 10k each. Infact the manufacturer had a on going challenge. If you could burn them up by just transmitting through them they would pay you a cash prize.

    Slot cars. I have an awesome HO 1/64 scale 4 lane setup. However, the larger scalers look down on the smaller scalers. 1/32 looks down on 1/64 and 1/24 looks down on all, just like Hams look down on CB'ers. Its the same on other hobbies too. I just look and laugh, enjoy life.Most hams now can barely wire a mic, no less build an amp, especially a legal limit plus. These same hams said it was theoretically impossible to output 2kw in a car 20 years ago while CBer's where building 20kw hams? ROFL

    not trying to troll, but 2 3cx3000 driven by 2 3-500z's? Way to much drive. Plus, the 3-500z box would need to be driven too. I know that I don't have that kind of power, and I hate it when ducks make stupid comments on what I do....... but I would use a (2) 4cx250B box for a driver.

    • @bushratbeachbum
      @bushratbeachbum 10 месяцев назад

      That's not how efficiency works.
      The alternators are supplying ac power directly.
      With batteries and an inverter you are building in energy losses.

    • @fadingbeleifs
      @fadingbeleifs 6 лет назад

      Max Hand RF is not ionising radiation. It's a lot of power, but that doesn't changes physics. The energy itself is actually low energy photons, they don't pack enough energy to damage DNA, all this power just really means he's putting out a lot more, kind of like the difference between a drinking straw (your average squawk box) and a breach in the Hoover dam (his setup)

    You could by a whole-lota real Ham radio gear for the money spent on this crap. And with no-code Ham licensing now, you don't need to be much smarter than a five year-old to earn one and have a lot-more interesting options. You can run 1500 watts out (if you really want to, or need to) and talk all over the globe almost any day, and operate numerous bands and modes. You can also roll your-own if that's your thing. Who-knows, you may even attract better women, but that's no guarantee.
