There were four SOCOM releases on PSP actually. Three in the Fireteam Bravo sub-series and one off-shoot called Tactical Strike. The latter was a very different kind of SOCOM game.
@@mylatedroid101 the second stick on Vita is just emulating those playstation buttons. You cannot use the second stick like in standard fps game - aiming is not so smooth.
I played this quite a bit back in the day, but I hated that a lot of the multiplayer matches had hackers/cheaters in them. This also happened a lot with the Fireteam Bravo games, and it sucks because the multiplayer was quite enjoyable at times in these games.
I actually went back and played Allied Assault last year and had a great time! It made me wish there was a way to get proper keyboard and mouse for the original 2. Never had a PSP or a PSV, but it's good to know the series still had some of a spark when this came out!
I had this on my PSP along with Resistance Retribution, SOCOM Fire Team Bravo 2, Metal Gear Solid, Star Wars Battlefront Elite Sqaudron and Coded Arms. I really enjoyed all of these games.
Not an FPS but Resistance PSP had a great alternate controls option that would let you aim with the analog stick and move with the four buttons on the right (square, triangle etc). Basically the opposite of what is usually seen on home consoles shooters where you move with the left part of the controller and aim with the right, but somehow it worked perfectly.
@Cynical Joker no longer have that option unfortunately, as it required a copy of Resistance 2 if I remember correctly? I didn't like that game very much, the single player part at least. Online coop was fun though.
Personally, I think this is one of the weakest games in the series. The campaign levels are repetitive, there's no music being played during said levels, the control scheme kinda sucks (Select to jump for example), and the game is pretty much seems like a watered-down bare-bone expansion to _European Assault_ . On top of all that, I think it was mainly made to capitalize on the multiplayer scene going on during the PSP's lifespan, which also sucks since _Medal Of Honor_ was more known for its strong single-player experiences. Despite my complaints though, I do have to give it some credit for showing that a first-person shooter could work on a portable console, even if it barely does. That's just my opinion though.
For a PSP shooter it's actually one of the best on the console. Playing it back when servers were alive was when it was at its strongest, and as a MP game worked really well.
i prefer heroes 2 on psp, way better mechanics, but overall the best portable moh game has to be Infiltrator for gba - more impactfull weapons, better maps, atmosphere (not counting psx on psp, because i like psx moh games the most)
because you are misremembering how bad, big and blocky Perfect Dark looked. Some N64 games actually run at a higher resolution than the PSP does but PSP games have higher quality textures and much better framerates. N64 is full of games stuck at ~20 fps which when you go back to play them just feels awful.
Gotta be honest, I'm not sure if that monotonous, robotic narration of yours is gonna do you any good in the long-term perspective, it's a little tiresome to follow and makes your reviews less rewatchable too. Of course, it's informative as always (perhaps going too much into detail, even bringing up the basics such as movement), but I don't know... I'd love to see your channel grow. In the end of the day, you do you though.
I had this back when it came out and the servers were filled; the MP was a blast to play alongside the two SOCOM releases.

The server's got reopened apparently

I think a lot of people overlook the PSP, but it is an awesome handheld that was way ahead of its time, and it had a lot of great games for it
Any time I see PSP games, I'm always left wondering why they didn't just didn't add a second nub.
Vita actually allows you to use who sticks for a change so I guess they got that right?

for a psp game it has sort of like no frame rate issues that's kinda impressive

I just bought Heroes today as my first PSP game, and it’s pretty good for a portable FPS.
I am a simple man, I see medal of honor I click.
I used to play this game like crazy back in the day
. Never experienced such amazing gameplay on any game ever.

4:16 Nice accuracy!
At 6:48, clearly this is best skin in the game.
I hope you take a look at Coded Arms.
MOH Heroes, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror, Miami Vice and an Activision 2600 collection were the only games I had, but goddamn did I play them a lot
Another great review
Wow never knew bout this..
Please review more retro psp game :)
I could never get used to the controls for this game. The PSP really needed a second joystick if it wanted to do fps games.
I loved this game this was my first game on psp
Please can you make a playlist for the consoles ... like a playlist for the ps2 or ps3 etc
Anyone remember the demo on psp which is a deathmatch with bots way back then? So much fun. I'll give this a shot someday...
Nice to see you tackle a PSP game to review.
I'd love to see you review GTA Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories someday.
Pursuit Force also a very good psp game.
YES. It is.
I just play Skirmish mode against bots in this game and it's still so much fun.
Can you look at the First Mario RPG??????????
Hey man thank u
Heroes 2 soon?
Next week.
@@Gamingpastime64 Great!!
Too bad you cant get it on the PAL region store :(
Kinda annoyed most fun always comes from the now defunk multiplayer.
oooh!! good old PSP era!! please review Call of Duty: Roads to Victory :) :)
This reuses almost all its assets from European assault. Hell I think they even use the same engine
"When you lose all your health, you die"
No shit, Sherlock

its a shame that heroes 2 didnt just make more of this and instead made a mediocre lineal campaign

Why most PSP FPS games looks worse than Perfect Dark for N64...
because you are misremembering how bad, big and blocky Perfect Dark looked. N64 is full of games stuck at ~20 fps which when you go back to play them just feels awful.
This is the most realistic war game I've ever played
Let this great franchise stay dead. EA ruins everything it touches.
They already ruined it so I wouldn't mind a new one, even if it's shit.
