When we go on vacation, I know there are going to be some extra indulgences so my husband and I always make sure we walk "a lot". We do at least 15,000 steps per day and eat only two meals. Many times we both end up losing weight instead of gaining when we return home. I highly recommend it!

Same. 5 day fasts for me require too much attention and working around family and friends. A few scheduled 36 fasts each week are easily doable and flexible around family plans. Eating, not eating. It's simple.
The results of both 5 day and a few 36 hour fasts for me (lower blood glucose, reduced chronic pain, weight loss, food control) seem to be about the same. Even loose skin disappears about the same.
But because I want to be sure to get the full benefits of autophagy etc, I plan to do one or two 5 day fasts per year as long as my blood sugar doesn't go too low.

When you are in your eating window of time then feasting. The key is to shorten the feasting time down to a minuscule amount so your body can do it's part by repairing itself during fasting time.
I usually eat just one meal in the middle of the day. I get everything ready before my first bite so my eating window is short. Then go right back into fasting after my last bite. Every bite is planned and no snacking at all during other times of the day. Every once in a while I get hungry for something with the rest of my family later. Sometimes I push through and continue fasting and other times I enjoy whichever it is. I am not starving, there's always food available, I just know now that the body needs to have a break from eating/calorie intake so it can repair itself and burn off excess weight.
I will continue this way of eating forever. During the holidays I already have some keto recipes saved which will help stay on goals. Remember, life happens, I'm not strict 24/7 sometimes I cheat something here and there, but personally it keeps my mental health happy knowing I can if I want but it feels so much better to be healthy and eat healthy. As far as food goes, I make everything homemade and if God made it we eat it and if He didn't we don't eat it. Also for some favorite foods which aren't necessarily "good for you" I look for recipes made into keto from pinterest.

Interesting that you should mention the holidays because during the Middle Ages, the Catholics in Europe instituted St. Martin's Fast (St. Martin is the Roman who gave the naked man part of his cloak from his horse).
This fast works a lot like Lent but goes from 13 November to Christmas Eve.
I will research more of this fast, which I hypothisise might have been to conserve the fall harvest till the snow melted and more food could be hunted and/or grown.
As I am also minimalist, this Advent fast also checks people's desire to buy, buy, buy, and with fasting, they have the mental clarity to descern better where their money is going during this not only "fat-ridden" but "debt-ridden" time of the year.

I lost over 100 and kept it off with extended fasting and keto in between. Be careful overdoing it, as it will lose its effect. Get plenty of protein between fasts, and take several weeks between fasts of 72 hours or more. The longer the fast, the longer the break. I did it quarterly, and fasted 10 days to three weeks, depending on how I felt. I never seem to fast longer than 72 hours anymore, having become less obese, but not yet particularly lean. HTH.
PS: The protein is a big deal, to avoid losing lean mass, and so is weight-bearing exercise, even while fasted. Protein and weight training (not doing it) are probably the biggest mistake I made. I'm currently at about 90 under my max, after having put maybe 15 pounds of muscle back on.

Weekend fasts work well for me. I'd say you could go back to eating low carb after the vacation in question (let's say between holidays, like after Thanksgiving, after New Year, etc.) and plan to fast over the first "normal" weekend. You can do this a few weekends in a row if you like the results. In fact, I'm thinking of pushing it a little longer over Labor Day weekend, myself.
I stop eating with an early dinner on Friday, perhaps high in fiber such as shirataki noodles, and plenty of protein. I plan to have a few hours early on Saturday morning (or afternoon, in the winter) for a long walk in the sun. If I feel the urge to eat, I go on more walks. I usually have an evening walk on Saturday (including late night walks in the summer) and a nice Sunday walk or two.
Then, depending on how the fast goes, I try to break it around noon on Monday. I think it can help to get past the mid morning hours through at least 10am, and hopefully get a morning walk in, or a noon walk in the winter, or some other kind of early exercise. This burns off the blood sugar your body creates from gluconeogenesis sometime around 6 AM.
I've found this routine successful in spiking ketones, which is evidence of weight loss if you're not eating anything (if you were getting exogenous ketones, MCT oil, bulletproof coffee, etc., ketones could be coming from them.)

They work well for me as well. I've fasted 43-68 hours every weekend but one since the end of June.

@@musicluvrlaurie6827 Awesome! Yeah, I think early evening 'til noonish is about perfect, regardless of the number of days and nights.

I really do appreciate your videos a lot of the stuff you said is really helping me a lot. It's a breath of fresh air to actually see a doctor who's not calling me a glorified fat ass. Yeah I had a lot of doctor he told me to lose weight and they basically said it at our own words I'm too fat even when I was in high school and I was playing lacrosse with asthma. If Bastion was very popular back then things matter differently for my weight
