Beautiful slap in the face from Kurt here to Carmen - "Oh you didn't think I had depth? Bitch, let me sing one of the three songs you mentioned you hear too many times and let me SLAY IT better than anyone you've ever heard"

Skytho i have to disagree. i thought not the boy next door was perfect for kurt!!! he lived in rachel’s shadow for a long time and that song for me felt like he might be waking up and realizing that he is more than just a shadow or a voice in the background.
Skytho Yeah from Carmen’s eyes it must’ve seemed like a kind of coverup. I’m still pretty bitter he didn’t get in though, Not the boy next door is MY favorite Kurt performance. That and Rose’s Turn

But then he sings this song “Being Alive” even though Carmen Tipadeaux said this and his original audition, Music Of the Night, song were the most common and overdone songs. And Kurt gets accepted.

Kurt's best performance in this show!
It was good. It felt a little safe. I think it was the arrangement. I wish he'd let loose a little more. I love his C.C.'s voice. I think he's way talented. I just wanted more.
He did a very good job on this. And if you liked this version, you should listen to Raul Esparza's version from the PBS production of Company.
