This will probably be the most personal freedom that you will ever have in your lifetime. You are early, you hike strong, and you hike fast. Just no need for crunching out miles! Do whatever you want each day. Go see things, sights, swimming holes, cool campsites, take breaks. It's your hike, your personal freedom. The best summer of your life. Enjoy EVERY aspect of your hike! On my 1990 hike, it took me 191 days to hike the trail, BUT, I had 79 zero days, most in the woods shooting photos. In 2002, I waited for 3 days at the Roan Mountain Shelter to have good weather for the Roan Highlands. Was it worth it to wait. Hell yes! The Roan Highlands are the prettiest spot south of the Mason-Dixon Line. My 2002 hike, I had 64 zeros. You have time, you are almost a month ahead of me and I finished September 18 and September 11. You got this girl!

Oh my gosh, how great to see all of you at the shelter....Mountaingoat, Atlas (Worldwide), Stir crazy and the triple crown attempter Wonder Woman. How cool if Bandit and Bluegrass had been there. Seeing all of you has brought tears to my eyes because I would have been right there, too. Thank you for the videos/pictures because they allow me to live the hike virtually. Missing the trail, Scar

That is totally a coherent thought. In fact, I would say that it’s a mature and sophisticated thought. We are complex and integrated beings. We are not one thing….we are not all physicality. We are equally spiritual and social and rational beings. So it makes sense that there are different “parts” of you that you are aware of on different days on trail. 7:08

    The trail
What you make it. There many reasons why people are out there. It’s you journey and make the most it. Enjoy every day!!
    Your rocking it.

The best privies are in ME. (CT or TN cover the other end. Though there is something very cool about sitting on the CT privies) On my thru I saw Fresh Ground only once and could not stop since I had hitched a ride with some day hikers going to Gatlinburg. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.

Yes! We humans have a lot of “parts” and it’s so good to be aware of which part is showing up or needing reprieve in any given moment.

I think you said it well. All parts can satisfy alot of aspects to our human nature. Growth when times get difficult and unknown. Great hike and chat. 😊

Many people hike to see the variety of plants, animals, mountains, and change in places, change in seasons.

I think I've said this before but you both young and an old soul at the same time. Your insights are just so darn spot on and I'm both pleased and amazed at the same time. You are pounding out the miles and soon we'll be hearing that you don't want it to end. It is inevitable, but I would make strong hunches that this won't be your last thru hike.
