I don't know how you get such great video of your fish, especially the tiny babies, but it's greatly appreciated, thanks for all your hard work sharing your knowledge, and making it so interesting and fun to watch.
👌The quality of this video is excellent! Photography, music choices, voice-over, and editing are all wonderful.❤ Love the new look! Also, those bettas are amazing 👏.
The new format for breeding videos is absolutely fantastic. Wonderful cinematography, an absolute delight to watch Your style evolving over the last couple of years has been awesome
Nah I think its perfect height, minimum 4inches. Don't forget water will evaporate quickly and for larger bettas it's really hard to turn and rotate in a small amount of space
Water too high in tank. Difficult for fries to get oxygen from the bottom and lead to lower survival rate of fries. Recommended to put small plant or 1pc of Indian almond leave in tank will be better for fries
The editing of this video is wonderful! Great content, love how you documented the whole process in such a great way. Especially those close up shots, those are insanely amazing. Keep up the fantastic work man!👏
tks for the vid. few suggestions that might improve your hatch rate and quantity. 1. I dont us a sponge filter until the fry are free swimming. bettas are use to shallow pools with no flow. two fish in a large tank like this is not a big bioload but the surface motion can interrupt their breeding. 2. I use a large transparent chimney for separating the female that has holes cut in it to allow water exchange between the male and female tanks. the pheremone exchange will improve the clutch size and I think improves the size of the eggs (anecdotal observation). 3. use some almond leaf in the tank if you have. the tannins gets them in the mood. 4 I use yellow plastic lids that let some light pass for a nest site. this mimicks a floating leaf and the color can help the male monitor the health of each egg and dispose of the bad ones. 5. I have had females help the male tend the nest so I check her actions before pulling her. sometimes they work well as a pair and can keep the eggs very well together. so say theat as the parents tend the eggs and roll them in their mouths they also transfer immunities to the eggs. maybe it is just cleaning. but 2 can be better than 1 and for sure dont pull the male until the hatch is done. one last thing, here we can buy up tubes for the sponge filters with slits cut horizontally along the length of the tube. this allow the water to exit through the side of the tube instead of making a large surface disturbance. very good for small fry because they do not get pushed around at the surface and can still feed easily while the bubbler is on.
Nice camera work. I’ve bred and raised hundreds of fighters over many years and have found best food to start the fry on is infusoria. This only needs to be fed for the first few days and gives the fry a real growth boost before moving them onto artemia. If you haven’t any infusoria you can start them on freshly hatch artemia as soon as they start free swimming. If you check these tiny fry out under a microscope you’ll be amazed at the size of their mouth. Nice pair BTW. The male is a so call galaxy koi because of his iridescent scales…
Great video Nick! always fun to watch these, I love the music and sound affects, it gives them a little bit of personality, great little stories for kids that want to have a go, keep it up 🙂
The work you did In this video is awesome man 👏🏻 🙌 The ASMR bubble, eating , water sounds with sync. 👌 The video quality, bg music and your voice The best video ! Huge respect and love from india 🇮🇳 brother 🙏 ❤️
dude you are cracking me up. I enjoy watching the production value go up. the hike and outing movies are amazing. but most enjoy watching your talent progress as a narrator and dialogist. This is so well done. bordering on playwright and satire. cant imagine where you are gonna take all of this. AND so easy to learn and follow the process. miss hearing and with out further duo....love it when you say baby brine shrimp...i made it a drinking game.
Great video! Reminds me of when I somewhat accidentally bred my sparkling gourami during quarantine! They were my desktop aquarium & I got to watch the babies grow up to be adults :') One of these days ill edit & post the footage it was a wonderful distraction. Everyone eventually seemed to pass from dwarf gourami iridovirus disease & I haven't kept my fav fish for fear of the disease. I recently adopted my friends betta & she's been a real joy. bubble nests are the cutest things ever imo
Good timing. I’m probably going to try and breed my Bettas this coming month. They are already in tanks side by side and the boy has already been building bubble nest in his.
I’ve been dying to see how the last videos with the 3 different pairs turned out fully grown. Is there a video I missed or an instagram post? Seeing how their genetics combine is so so interesting.
I loved your video. Beautiful fish, nice edit, good music. When I breed bettas, I lower the water level even more than you did. This will save Daddy betta some energy that he will definitely need. Also, with a lower water level, the fry will find food easily. As they grow bigger, the water level can be increased slowly. And I feed them with brine shrimp as soon as possible, around the 6th or 7th day from the hatching.
Bro! Your videos are evolving into epic aquarium documentaries! Reminds me of BBC docos with narration by David Attenborough. So inspired by your growth 💪💪💪
Back again, semi successful. After finding eggs, I removed mom. I checked once daily. Each time I lifted the lid, Dads’ bubble nest was smaller😢. Day 3 I didn’t see any eggs left and removed the male. As I was getting ready to break down the tub I spotted the tiniest fry I’ve ever seen. Only 2 confirmed. I will give them a bit of time to see if they grow up enough to move. I consider this a win and hope Dad has learned skills for another go at it. Fingers crossed everyone!!😅
This is your highest quality video yet, extremely good. And funfact: my current breeding pair is the exact opposite, male looks like your female and female looks like your male and both are Plakat
The edit of this videos have been outstanding!! This are the best quality aquarium videos I have seen all over RUclips!! and the information provided, besides the wonderful shots and music is incredible!! Great Work!! have been watching since you were still at your house, before buying those 4 big tanks and building the stands!! Congrats!
You have a wonderful tallent; the cinematography, story and narrative are second to none. I watched it several times; it still amazes me that the little pairs of eyes turn into fish. Respect and gratitude from Georgia USA
I once saw a video about a betta farm (I think in Thailand) where they raised the young betta in liquor bottles that where arranged like a grid on the floor. They could even stand on the bottles. Anyway, they used a circular saw to cut a hole in the upper part of the bottle, so they could do water changes with a water hose.
I keep coming back to watch again. Today I’m setting up a small tub pond on my back porch to cultivate wild mosquito larva. Also other micro critters indigenous to my area. So I can have live food for conditioning. Feeding fry.
Love the stuff you do man!! Inspires me to take on more difficult breading projects!! You have such a cool thing going on! Keep fish simple!! It’s great!!!
Amazing video nick 😊 , ive always wanted to try breed bettas but always get put of by my local fish shop. But after seeing you and how you went about it all makes me wanna do it 😊. Thanks for sharing mate 😊
Awesome video.. what I do differently is that I have the water lowered than that.. makes it easier for the male to keep the babies in the nest.. also I dont think they eat flake food hey.. :) Mine only eat live food. Infusoria for the first week, and then BBs.
Oh my god your camera quality is amazing. I love your videos. Could you please do a guppy video like this with the breeding and birthing process and you could do a guppy fry development video also. I love these
what a great video. I stop keeping fish about 8 years ago. We are now building a house where I have space to get a tank. I will be certainly buying fish from you. Take care from Melbourne.
I just started another beta breeding project, they’ve attempted about three times but no eggs yet. I’m trying them again today and may swap out the female if I have to
Yeah really like this new look for the channel. Like a David Attenborough Of the fish world i really think if this vedio dose well that you should make more like it i can really see content like this increasing the appreciation for fish breeding.
I love these documentary style videos you’ve been creating lately! One question I am left with is how do the male genetics get passed on through to the babies? If she develops her eggs, and he is in charge of hatching them, is there a point where he fertilizes them? Did that happen overnight when you came back the next morning and the eggs where there? Thanks for all the info as always!
I bred some betas as a hobby back in Sri Lanka long time ago and it’s fun to watch them . Thanks for bringing my memories back mate. Keep up the good work. I want to buy some puffer peas for my kid . Can I buy from your shop , I m living in Melbourne and don’t know the weather suits for them.
Mateeee big fan of you.❤ Last time i watched your betta breeding video and did amazing breeding still i could not save younglings. Anyway This time it is wonderful and amazing story and audio is fun with fish❤. Great story mate❤
I’ve been researching on RUclips to see a to feed baby betta and I found 2 of your videos. One shows you feeding them egg yolk , baby brine shrimp and micro worms and the other video ( this one ) shows you feeding them flakes for the first time. Can I use all three methods cause I have one week old fry and I would like to use all three. Thank you and keep up the great work
Thankyou for this amazing video now i know the behavior of betta fish while breeding. I tried to breed my betta one time but i immediately remove the female because my male is too aggressive little did i know it's just a normal process of breeding betta fish thank you so much❤
Hi, KeepingFishSimple. What type of betta (plakat, long fin, veil tail) do you think would be happiest in a 23 litre (6 gallon) tank? Dimensions: 30cm in length, 22cm in depth, 41cm in height. I know a tall tank isn't ideal :( but my parents bought it for me as a gift and couln't return it. Can my fish still thrive?
Hii @christine8995 sorry to join the discussion.. As a new owner of betta fish myself, I inspect that plakat can move more efficiently than long-fin ones since the water doesn't hold back their short fins too much, so probably the plakat will be a better choice if you concern about their energy to move around.. But maybe you can add some substrates and plants to increase the level of the base so it will be shorter (kinda like an aquascape) or you can decrease water level if necessary.. Plants can be a great place for betta to rest a bit if they're tired 😊 Probably others will have better tips, this is just an opinion from a fellow betta keeper! Good luck with your tank :))
@@andreslinn69Hi Andres, I have planted my tank heavily but I don’t have any big leaves for a betta to rest on. I will definitely take your advice and get some :)
Hi! I love your vids! I am getting a tank next Friday and will begin cycling. For a 20 gallon High tank do you recommend Aqueon Quiet Flow 20 hang on the back or a sponge filter? I’ll have a Betta and some neon tetras
Thank you for this wonderful video! Has to be one of my favorite!! But I do have a question for you, I thought that betta fry needed live food absolutely or else tsome wouldn't eat and die? Is this wrong?
OMG I think I bought Manning from your shop 2 weeks ago if it is him he is the best and I will do my best to give him the best home I can. I duno if I should change his name back to Manning though I started to call him Buddy, Also your shop is great cant wait for my next visit
I don't know how you get such great video of your fish, especially the tiny babies, but it's greatly appreciated, thanks for all your hard work sharing your knowledge, and making it so interesting and fun to watch.
Macro lense
They are incredibly small, my guppy fry look huge in comparison. I would have missed the two I have, if I hadn’t used a magnifying lens
👌The quality of this video is excellent! Photography, music choices, voice-over, and editing are all wonderful.❤ Love the new look!
Also, those bettas are amazing 👏.
The new format for breeding videos is absolutely fantastic. Wonderful cinematography, an absolute delight to watch

The water level is too high, making it difficult for the male to put back the fell down egg. I think it should only be 3 inches high.

You finally heard my request of betta breeding videos , you are one of the best betta breeders out there. Keep it up! 🎉
The babies are sooo cute and the parent bettas are gorgeous!! Can’t wait to see how the lil ones turn out 😊😊

a very nice betta breeding video.
I like this documentary, David Attenborough, vibe!
I hope we do get an update on these... the last Beta project you did, never got the last update :(

I would love to get my betta in breeding but I don't have the space to store all of them once the fry are older and needed to be seperated
Better keep the water level at around 10 to 15cm in height before the eggs are hatch....baby betta are weak so don't stress them out

Nice video! How do you know when they are ready to mate? Or is it that you put them in that position?
I’m not successful yet. I think my issue is steady water temps. I’m hoping summer will keep my enclosed porch warm enough. I’ll keep trying though.
Update on the babies ? And should you really feed the bettas so much worms ?, heard they get stomach issues and die
