I want to tell you how much you blessed me by posting this video!!!! I have the exact same water heater and it kept producing "muddy" water and then it just finally stopped heating. I did not have the funds to pay someone to install a new one, so when I found your video, you made it so easy for me to have the confidence to do it on my own. Took me 3 days and had to call a friend for "man strength" when I couldn't get the cold water connection loose, and while he was there he helped with the reinstall. (Yes America, MEN are a VALUABLE asset and women cannot do EVERYTHING) Mine was not under a cabinet but in the "basement" of the RV and not one you could sit up in, but rather had to crawl into and lay down to disconnect everything. It was an adventure but now I have hot water, no leaks and I am forever grateful that you took the time to post this.
You are a life saver my friend. I have to replace my water heater and did not want to pay to get it done. So I will be using this video to transfer mine out
Very detailed instructions, thanks for sharing your videos, step by step, is the best I’ve ever seen, it is a hard work, but also save lots of money. Thanks again.
Hello, it would have saved you time if you hadn't filmed it! Lol But I am so glad you did! Awesome job! I'm replacing mine tomorrow, and this video takes some of the anxiety out of me. Thank you very much for this video! Great video!
Appreciate your video...very good instructions. My suburban gas w/h started leaking pretty bad so I watched your video and said 'I can do this!'. Ordered the tank from HD online. Before anything I did a unit comparison just as you did (wires) than the whole removal and install took apx 50min. Only issue after was the polybutylene pipe fittings for the water inlets were leaking and copper/brass was corroded so I had to cut them off and replace with swivel elbows found at camping world for $9/each (better than shark bite fittings bc they thread onto the pipe after insertion). The funniest thing was being told by a person in the store that I should have a professional do the work on the pipes but it took me less than 5mins.
With RUclips you can get instruction right from the professionals mouth if you find the right one. Save some money that way for damn sure. Just need the proper tools. Take pictures from all angles before you take it apart, put the new one together in the same way.
Thank you for posting this my friend, your elaborating patient step by step skills and details to the job at hand are what were the determining factor of me subscribing to your channel.
Just a comment that you don't put sealant on the threads of a flare fitting. The sealing part of that connection is not the threads. Other than that great video ! Thanks !
No you don't. Just remember to get the copper line lined up centered on the fitting before screwing the nut on. And the use a soap solution on the fitting after turning the propane back on to check for leaks!
It looks like the genesis of your problem was not changing out the anode rod in regular maintenance . That rod sacrifices itself so the steel tank doesn’t disintegrate. The anode rod is located at that nut on the outside where it leaked and rusted the outside
You did good man... im fighting a 93 model atwood in a holiday rambler. Pain in the butt so far but yeah same deal. Problems while on gas and now gas side isnt working at all.
Fyi, you can do all the wiring from outside, just pull 1/4 - 1/2 out and splice. No need to remove cabinet, sorry for your struggles, it is what it is, you got it done 👍
great job but I think you might have to show your checking for propane bubbles to see if there is a leak...other than that thanks for making this video.. going to put mine in this weekend...will keep you posted..
Nice video. Mine doesn’t have the electric, but otherwise the same. Just an FYI that “drain plug” on the front is actually the anode rod, and depending on how often you are using your water heater, that should be checked yearly and replaced as needed. If you had never checked it, then that is probably why your it was rusted shut and why it might have started leaking.
I have the same water heater in my 2001 motor home it just started to do the exact same thing all i had to do is run a 3/4 npt tap threw the drain hole were it was leaking and clean up the threads. Like new again . No more leak.
Good job! I need to replace mine but I'm wondering if all water heaters are the same. I have a 2007 Forest River Wildwood 34ft Travel Trailer. Can you tell me how much they run $ and perhaps where you purchased it?
We have a 07 wildwood travel trailer and the gas water heater the pilot light is working but we don't have any hot water help! We replaced the ignition switch
I wanted to mention if you do not replace your anode rod you will be here again in a few years that is the reason this water heater has all that rust your anode rod is completely rusted into place probably completely disintegrated within the tank and the tank has started to corrode on the inside
@@thenightowl5403 it is a suburban water heater they make ones that are gas and electric or just gas also wanted to mention do not purchase from camping world like he has they are notorious for very bad service purchase from eBay or an suburbans website

I just paid almost $600 in labor to have this done. Great Job !!
You did an amazing job one-handed! Thanks for the informative and helpful video.
Agreed.
Im installing a new water heater this weekend and this video is going to be used to gelp w/the install.
Great job!! Thank you!!🙏🏻💕

Thankyou for making this video! I feel like your totally a dad the way you explained things! Love it
Really appreciate the post. Helped out and made the swap very fast. In and out less than an hour.
EXCELLENT video.....tackling this project tomorrow, brother...THANK YOU!
Bingo man you helped alot, I’m new to living in my RV, best fort I ever had. Thanks again.
You made a very helpful video we have to place our RV hot water heater we just purchased one online waiting on it to be shipped out to us.
all I needed was to know which way to turn the nut on the water heater, Thank you... New SUB
Nice job, one special note that most probably already know, check that gas line for leaks once you reattach the line.
great video. had me laughing when you said "sounds like I'm making it up as I go, I probably am"...🤣

Great video you did a great job to be doing the replacement of the water heater and being the camera man. Thanks
Great video chief!! Now I can change my water heater!! 👍🏻

Awesome video brother!!
You crack me up! Banana sandwich lol! That video was very well done and informative thank you so much!
Glad you got a chuckle
Thanks for posting up this video!
Really informative!
You did an excellent job! Great verbal instructions. Thanks for sharing.
Fyi, you can do all the wiring from outside, just pull 1/4 - 1/2 out and splice. No need to remove cabinet, sorry for your struggles, it is what it is, you got it done 👍
He had to remove the cabinet due to water damage, from a leak caused by the water heater.
great job but I think you might have to show your checking for propane bubbles to see if there is a leak...other than that thanks for making this video.. going to put mine in this weekend...will keep you posted..
Great vid man! Gonna give it a shot myself. Thank you so much.
Good to see how to remove the unit, mine is very similar. Replacing it with a Camec 13 kw instant gas heater that goes back into the same place.

Thank you, yes we realized that afterward
When you said “lil wire nut sandwich” I had to subscribe
Thanks for the video. I'm about to change mine.
Meke more videos please , I your new follower
Watching you try to turn those nuts was the most painful thing I’ve ever watched. Have you ever heard of a wrench?
Thanks for the video!!!!
Dropping screws is my middle name buddy..lol
Quick question, how many times do you have to slap the top of the box before starting the installation?
I have the same water heater in my 2001 motor home it just started to do the exact same thing all i had to do is run a 3/4 npt tap threw the drain hole were it was leaking and clean up the threads. Like new again . No more leak.

Great work man!!!
Good video, good job.
Great video thank you :)
Awesome job. 😀
Good job! I need to replace mine but I'm wondering if all water heaters are the same. I have a 2007 Forest River Wildwood 34ft Travel Trailer. Can you tell me how much they run $ and perhaps where you purchased it?
I believe it was about $600 but I don’t remember where we bought it. Maybe camping world?
Very good 👍
Where that water was leaking is your arode rod that spouse to be replaced once a year to keep your tank from rusting out from the inside
I’m talking about the outside plug by the way there should be a rod connected to the other side that keeps your tank from rusting
Thanks for the tip!
Doing the exact same water heater next weekend. Did it fire up and run good??
Sure did!
What size are the water fittings. 21MM. 7/8 too large and 3/4 too small. 13/16 too small
so helpful!
We have a 07 wildwood travel trailer and the gas water heater the pilot light is working but we don't have any hot water help! We replaced the ignition switch
Where do your blue red and green wires come from my rv does nnot have them how can i install them or where do they come from any help is appreciated
Should use a backup wrench when tightening or loosening propane flare fitting
I wanted to mention if you do not replace your anode rod you will be here again in a few years that is the reason this water heater has all that rust your anode rod is completely rusted into place probably completely disintegrated within the tank and the tank has started to corrode on the inside
Thanks, yeah that’s what we learned in this process
Is there anyway we can just remove it and cancel the water heater?
What do you do what do you think that your hot water heater from your how do you get rid of it
Just thinking its easier to clear out water in old tank by releasing the water valve in front. Then unscrew the hot & cold lines in back
What is that wiring for?
Would you happen to know the depth needed for this heater? I got about 20 1/2 inches
I’m sorry, I don’t :-/ we actually don’t live in the camper anymore
Are you still active? I have a wiring question?
I’m still active on RUclips but we actually don’t live in a camper anymore so not sure how much help I could give you
Banana sandwich on it? Lol
What do I do with the old one
👍👍👍
What size wire nuts
Can you say please what the water heater is called? Where did you get? How much?
It was about $500 from camping world
@@thenightowl5403 it is a suburban water heater they make ones that are gas and electric or just gas also wanted to mention do not purchase from camping world like he has they are notorious for very bad service purchase from eBay or an suburbans website
WHY didn't you just UNscrew the wire nuts instead of cutting the wires on the old heater ?
no need for teflon tape on gas fittings
Some one needs to learn how to use a pair of pliers
AMATURE
I believe you mean amateur 😬
@@lylesliving he still gave me useful information. Vid was very helpful!
