- What draws you to the Oregon Coast? Reasons to travel Oregon's Pacific Coast Scenic Byway are as far reaching as your imagination. This spectacular part of Oregon traces the entire coastline along Highway 101.
Lived in Gold Beach 20yrs now, love the quiet, the ocean, the storms, you won't get rich quick but you'll find contentment!
When I was a teenager I hitchhiked from Ithaca NY to Cannon Beach Oregon. When I got there some guy showed me a perfect camping place 25 feet above the beach in the park just north of that rocky outcrop north of Cannon Beach. It was a full moon that night and I had a place overlooking the sea and perfect full moon under a tree. That night I went down to the beach to look at the waves and had to walk really far out to get to the water. There was a sneaker wave that came forcing me to jump up onto the rocks nearby and the water got to about 6 or more feet deep flowing past me like a river. I had to wait for it all to drain out before running back to a safer level. That was a most amazing experience combined with a little terror camping there that night, before moving south.
Oregon is a beautiful state. The coast line is out of this world!!
I've traveled all over the planet and can say unequivocally that the Oregon Coast is in the top ten most scenic places. This video merely give you a taste. Nothing captures the experience of overlooking Cape Perpetua than actually being there and being filled with awe.
They didn't even mention the 600 year old giant spruce out past the Cape Perpetua campground. (has a 40 ft circumference)
We don't live on a planet we live on a plane flat stationary plane earth
@@jesusiskingofkingslordoflo6727 😂😂😂 sure
I Lived in Florence as a Teen. It was awesome to be in.
Oregon is epic place to visit. My dream is to live there and live on a bluff that overlooks the ocean.
I had the privilege of living in the Coos Bay / North Bend area from 1995 to 2011, where my wife and I raised our kids before an eventual career move elsewhere. It was the perfect launching point to explore the Oregon Coast. We traveled north and south to visit all the places and activities profiled in this video ... We miss the region, and the people there, dearly.
Beautiful 😍 Cher 🌟
I was raised in North Bend/Coos Bay. I've traveled the Oregon coast three times and it never gets old
My father was born and raised in Tillamook County, so needless to say growing up we spent a lot of time visistng relatives and the breathtaking Oregon Coast. You can't get any better!!
You know it man Oregon is always beautiful and we got to keep it clean and beautiful and respect the people around themselves I do and I would say thank you and thank you again I was born and raised in Oregon now my grandparents are from Russia mom and dad are from China from my dad came to Oregon from China he got his citizenship pay the taxes and live like American and respected it this is our home and all thanks to Kennedy
From morro bay ca to Cape flattery wa...gorgeous.🇺🇸🇺🇸👏
I have been fortunate to go to the Oregon coast many times and I have been from the north to the south and stopped at all of the points of interest. We always went to Neskowin from the time it was a campground with a community kitchen. Eventually the campground changed and became proposal rock inn. I have said many times the Oregon coast is a little piece of heaven on earth. Great video.
Ganda ng place God bless you sir thank you po
Well done. I’ve driven the entire route and you caught the beauty of our coast
Nothing like the Oregon coast in the world! Washington's Olympic peninsula is pretty incredible too but nothing like OR beaches. Can't wait to visit again soon.
There are many coastal roads like this around the world.
Yes, our coast is the best, and 101 is the way to go. Spot on- 🎉
Drove this hwy a couple of times, brings back memories of how beautiful the Oregon coast is!!
In 1968 and 69, I delivered propane all along this stunning Oregon coast. No RR along the southern OR coast, so I drove a semi tanker, with trailer to load up in Coos Bay and then delivered to households, lumber mills, laundromats and whoever else wanted propane southward to Gold Beach. After all of these years, this coast line is still spectacular to me.
I drove 101 North-to-South at the beginning of the year. In my opinion the Oregon coast was the most stunning coast the whole trip down. Some beautiful country indeed!
This makes it for me i will take it ALL
I live here and love it. Love the pace of life and the friendship of the residents. Scenery is a plus. Close enough to heaven for me!
I visited the Oregon coast on my last trip to Oregon in October 1995 Tillamook Oregon I also visited the Oregon coast twice in the 1970s Cannon Beach August 1976 and again on July 4th 1978 in Tillamook Oregon
This is a beautiful byway. Documentary was well done. Enjoyed the trip along the entire state's coast. Thanks ODOT.
Great video. Thanks. My wife I plan a trip to the Oregon in 2022.
Beautiful place. I love ♥️Oregon.
I hiked the entire coastline with my dog best adventures ever!
hope dog agrees
@@vikkinicholson2300 dogs have no opinions they're pets, confused by their instincts telling them to follow a human for pack lead but live a life that is frustrating what million years of evolution built their bodies for.
How long did it take you?
3 months tempe Az to San Diego to Astoria 1700ish miles
@@goognamgoognw6637 Evolution is a theory.
I am so incredibly lucky that I live near this
We took this route last summer. It was incredible. I think Oregon is more spectacular than California.
I agree.
Looks like the place to go for a drive 👍
It is when school is in session. Uncrowded sep thru may.
I cant wait for borders to open. Im so looking forward to visiting from Australia !!
We love Aussie's, mate.
I wanted to move to california when I was 18, So I did. On my schwinn continental and with about 100 in my pocket, I made it from west linn to lincoln city just about dark. The next 4 days I spent riding down the coast. Stunning beautiful country. Always loved that trip, but the logging trucks between cresent city and eureka were a bit daunting. I hope they widened the road since 1974.
wow born 1975
thanks for posting this. so homesick
I have vacationed on the Oregon coast many times. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The area from Depot Bay to Newport, and the area from Astoria to Cannon Beach are especially beautiful. There are two ways to get to the coast from Portland; I recommend hi-way 99.
How beautifuland great is our USA.Land that i love. There is no wondering why people alll over wants to come here.It is Huge, packed with gorgeous places ,packed with kindness, love, and freedom. Lets keep it safe in peace with love.
The trip from Astoria to California all along Highway 101. It's one of the most wonderful trips we've taken while traveling in Oregon, it's a dream, I know it's just over 300 miles and it took us a week to cross it, as we did many stops to see the beauties that we found, if they travel or have plans to travel this route, prepare with their cameras that will not stop taking many photos, good trip.
Eduardo Ovalle ... I live in Australia.. my husband and I are doing this trip in August/September... I can’t wait .. to excited ..
@@krisbickford6040 how do you like the trip?
I took a trip with my mom from Neah Bay, Wa. on 101 all the way to the Redwoods in California. We took a week and camped every night in a different spot along the way. Oregon has the best and the most campgrounds. Very beautiful one with lots of big trees and great vistas.
I really like the yurts. They have heat, electricity, and a bed and table & chairs. You still cook outside over a campfire, but it's ssdoi much more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. If you have bad knees, you'll understand!
@@krisbickford6040 if you see this, please tell us about your trip!🙂
I drove the 101 up from where it starts past san fran up to a little past orick California, Some of the most beautiful views I've ever seen
Mind the potholes!
Highway 1 north from San Francisco into Southern Oregon is probably the best scenic drive in all of the U.S., I agree.
That's why it's called, the Pacific Wonderland.
Rode the complete Oregon coast line in 2015. Beautiful, nothing like being there and the experience.
Great job! I love my Oregon coast
What draws me? ... Wonderful Nature views and awesome photography!
This is such an informative video!
I'm planning a road trip along the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway.
But once I search by the keyword Pacific Coast Highway,
most of what I found are just the stretch in California.
Your video is very helpful and suits my need perfectly.
A million thanks for sharing this valuable story!
Please keep up with your awesome work!
So proud that I lived in Oregon for 15 years. I miss and love my second country. Thanks for the video.
I live here.
Paradise.
Done this trip many times with my wife in our VW Bus. Most recently last month. You must try Griffs on the Port Orford pier. Best fish shack on the West Coast.
Rode it three years ago, great road, will riding again if the border opens this year, as part of my FOUR borders ride, west coast down to Mex border, over to the keys then back up to Canada, RIDEFAR RIDESAFE OPENROADS
I backpacked the Oregon Coast Trail starting at the mouth of the Columbia river before ending early in Bandon due to a torn Achilles tendon. In those four weeks i got to explore places and experience views few get to enjoy. What an adventure that was.
Where were your favorite sea caves? Did you get to the tip of Cape Lookout?
I do you didn't experience the Samuel Boardman State Scenic Corrider you didn't see the tenth of the Oregon coast.
The Pacific Coast of the United States is my most favorite region in the country. The sheer enormity, the vastness, and the majesty of the Pacific Ocean is absolutely stunning and amazing. And, as an East Asian enthusiast (China, Korean, and Japan), these countries are just on the other side of this marine titan, and their cultural influences are strong in this region.
Great ride in all of Washington and Oregon.
I love living in Oregon it is one giant playground
What town do you live in?
My dream is to live on the Oregon Coast someday.
Nita Wealand
I lived and worked in Parkrose and Pendleton between 1978 and 1983 and found Oregon to be a Bigoted infested state. The you ppl Hate, Yes Hate ppl from other states especially California.
@@AwesomeAlexAdam The coastal cities are friendly.
Too bad you’re stuck with Portland
Nice video of a beautiful part of America, being from Maine it makes me realize the great size of our country. It’s amazing to think of the courage, resourcefulness and determination of the first settlers as they civilized a continent.
Thank you for this amazing view that, once one's literally seen it, one can't help but return to (or live at if lucky) again and again. For me it has anyway. The 804 Trail in Yachats is my personal mecca for the spiritual blessings it gives. Even on the rainiest, windiest, coldest of days along this ocean-fronted path, I've never felt anything less than grateful to be there.
This is on my bucket list!
I love going to the Oregon Coast. My older brothers love going there as well.
Sounds of the waves!
Oceanside OR is my favorite place to visit!
Beautiful video coverage beautiful country nurture view

I have traveled up PCH and 101 from So Cal to into Washington and back a couple times on motorcycle. Best scenic in US. Did it by car a few times. It was best back in 70's and 80's before crowded with other people doing it.
One of my favorite trips I've been on was in Oregon. Drove down the beautiful highway 101 and then drove up to mt.Hood
It's like I live in Coos Bay for over 30 years is what brings me coming home.
The Oregon Coast is absolutely stunning. I’m looking forward to returning.
Wonderful coast trip. My wife and I did this 6 years ago and it is every bit as spectacular as it is said to be. We travel a lot and this was one of the very top vacations we have ever taken.
I want to drive this scenic route sooo bad. It’s on my bucket list.
Dan Miller BIGFOOT extends a warm and hearty welcome to everyone......''Please come and visit our Oregon coast. We love ALL humans, especially with some salt and lots of pepper!"
Go inland to Shasta Lk. Best hairpin curves ever. Really fun droppn down to the lake
Looking at this from Australia's Pacific Coast (where I live), there are many similarities to our NSW coast south of Sydney - so both sides of that massive ocean do have connections!
My parents were hippies ,i grew up every summer travelling nor cal and Oregon coast in a homemade RV that had been a breadvan ,i cherish those memories. That was the 70s ,still a great place took my kids a few years ago some of it haant changed since i was a kid
Viewed several videos of the Oregon coast. This one is the best!

Was born an raise on the Oregon coast
Great commentary
Endless beauty.
One of my favorite trips ever. Hands down.
Great Video. I live in Brookings so I wish there was more exposure to our city. Send to many family and friends hoping they would see what they are missing.
Brookings is stunning. I loved the beaches and the climate. It isn't plagued by fog like the beaches in Eureka.
I live in Brookings. I love it here.
Great bridges too.
Beautiful video of the Oregon Coast, Moved to Astoria in 06 by way of the east coast and military , it's a beautiful town and it's a tourist town come summertime,
You are a Lucky Lady!
Wonderful documentary! I look so forward to enjoying Oregon’s coastal beauty, food and people. Thank you.

I drove this last May - it is breath taking! Every day was gorgeous -- I also went to Northern California and took in the California Redwoods -- amazing! The only stretch I did not take in was from Tillamook to Astoria. Amazing and wonderful!
That's the boring end. Closer to Cali is the best scenery from 101.
Wow! What an incredible video. Thank you. We will be using this as a visitor guide for September.
Very much keen to visit u s a my favourite ciuntry.
Thanks for sharing. Nice video. Driving the Pacific Coast Highway from the California-Mexican border to the Washington-Canadian border is on my Bucket List. The Road Trip of a lifetime. Would like to drive Route 66 from Cincinnati to San Diego CA, then get on Pacific Coast Hwy
