      Killed, captured, wounded, missing, sick, or even accidents are all forms of casualties basically any soldier who becomes unavailable for combat before they are dismissed.
      Some casualties are temporary and will be able to return to the fight later. Still a horrendous ratio, but a good reminder that not every casualty is a death.
      In fact, in most wars, most casualties are non-fatal

      Army was poorly organized and torn apart from within. The coup was organized by the small group of officers who were British agents. You would think there would be mobilization or battle readiness would be increased after the huge protest with slogans "Better war, then pact" and "Better grave, then slave". For some reason it was not the case and it is unknown why, despite having a battle plan ready for this exact situation called R-41. It was obvious that Britain who threw us in this mess were also willing to sacrifice us to buy them time to evacuate Greece. Army was also in the middle of reformation and modernization which is embarrassing going trough modernization when the world was at war since 1936 and Europe since 1939. As an example how much of a mess army was, mobilization in Sarajevo was declared 14.04.1941, which was also the day when Germany entered the city and army was driving tanks like Reno-17 (WW1 French tank). There was also the problem that 1/3 of army switched sides. Ustase infestation controlled from Italy was always a problem which was why it was appeased so much to the Croats to the point where they had 1/4 of the country autonomy and most of their own divisions. Half of army that was defending the west (Slovnenia) made out of Slovenia and Croats was betrayed from within. Croats not only deserted, but shot their comrades in the back and joined the Germans which is interesting, because it was Italy that financed dissidents and not Germany. NDH was declared on 10th of April when German forces entered Zagreb. There was also a problem of Folksdeutcher that acted as saboteurs and called signals on Luftwaffe where to attack on the ground. The only two achievements of Yugoslavia was air force during the first day slowed down Luftwaffe and caused few casualties and managed to bomb some German airbase, but didn't do much because it was sabotaged and army from Kosovo marched into Albania, but it was pointless as overall goal was to cut Italy from Balkans and establish communication with the Greeks.
      As for the government, Dusan Simic who led the coup simply retired and for some reason was never punished for being a traitor. Communists were very vengeful and showed no mercy toward what they declared "enemies of the people" which meant everyone who collaborated or was anti-Communist (aka. everyone from old regime) was marked for death in an unmarked grave. The King and the Government went to exile in London, but since Communists took over, they were forbidden to leave and until the late 90s were not allowed back. They had vast treasury that was left behind in chaos and not everything was found. Many of those who were exiled would in the late 80s serve to promote ethno-nationalism to destroy Yugoslavia who was by then a strong Communist country that had a moment of weakness.
      In short, the entire invasion for Yugoslavia was a disaster in every way imaginable and the worst defeat in Serbian history and Yugoslav High Command deserves all the blame.

    During this time, Serbs outnumbered Albanians heavily in Kosovo. Because of this war the serb losses would never fully recover in the region. The Nazis gave albania Kosovo during the occupation which brought in many families. the remaining serbs were treated like third class citizens in theri own home. Later after the war, NATO and the UN gave Kosovo back to serbia/ Yugoslavia but because of cheap labor needs, the communist leader Tito offered more albanians to move in. This brought the albanian population to a mega majority. Later during the yugolav civil war, the UN sided with the albanians and broke kosovo away from serbia further oppressing serbian people. My family from Djakovica, were thrown out of our ancestral home because we were no longer welcome in the New state of kosovo. To this day serbs are attacked and killed for being present there. And NATO would have you believe the serbs started it. no it began during the invasion of yugoslavia. And Why would NATO support the albanians? Because they needed a base closer to its adversaries. the Airforce admits to bullying serbs for the land so it could make camp Bondsteel, a FOB for supplying future operations in either Russia/ Ukraine, or the middle east. I just want everyone to be aware that this is disgusting and to never support the fake state of kosovo. Kosovo will always be the cultural heart and center of the Serbian People.

    For all the people about the casualty ratio: the number this dude put on screen is incorrect. Invaded by Germany (both from Austria and Romania), Italy (both from Italy and Albania), Hungary and Bulgaria. And inside by Ustaše, Volksdeutsche, fascists and collaborationist. No one gave a fuck, specialy Brits. They could at list coordinate Greece and Yugoslavia and send some troops from South and organize retreat and regroup in North Greece.
      But 3 months later first free territory in any Axis occupied land has emerged and was not destroyed till end of war. That is why Yugoslavia was not member of Warsaw packt

He was transported to German captivity through Bulgaria and Romania. Bulgarians were hostile, not giving them even water to drink. They were held in cattle wagons like sardines in a can. Romanias were completely different, giving them water and food.

    Well, all other Yugoslav ethnic groups other than Serbs despised this royalist Yugoslavia and its ultranationalist Greater Serbia standing so most of their soldiers refused to fight for it. But surprising is that Serbian soldiers also surrendered en masse and had their capital captured by only 5-6 German soldiers.

    • @rarescevei8268
      @rarescevei8268 2 месяца назад

      This is false. The actual reason for the surrenders en masse is the coup that occured in the country, which lead to the disorganization of the army.
      It's why even serbs surrendered en masse.
