The 6-year-old was not confused. Her behavior was the same as her mum or any person in a similar position. Don't treat six as idiots. I was 7 when my father died and I understood perfectly.
Yeah, kids understand far more than adults realise. They may call it treating kids like kids, but its really, like u say, treating kids like idiots. In my experience, kids are often far smarter and more accepting than adults, coz theyre not yet as closeminded and prejudiced as adults. Treating them as idiots does more harm than good.
It wasn't safe then, there have always been child predators. Actually violent crime and murder was higher in the 70s and 80s than it is now, it peaked in the late 90s and has been dropping almost every year since. Today just feels unsafe because of the internet, we see every instance of crime with cameras everywhere now when before we did not.
@@PetroicaRodinogaster264 In the 80s, we sold Girl Scout cookies door to door without an adult and played Kick the Can in the early evening with the kids in my neighborhood. Apparently, all the parents in my neighborhood thought it was safe enough to do so back then. We survived. Lol.
There have been cases where someone walked into the police station and confessed to murder and were sent away because they had no proof to show the police that they did it. Unbelievable.
That is why, in the UK and probably in the USA the police do not generally give many details about a serious crime. If the person confessing knows all the details, e.g method, weapon, time etc then it is probable they are responsible. If, for example somebody has been found strangled and the confessor said a knife was used, it's probable that that person will get his arse kicked out of the door.
There is a flaw in the coherence of this film. The accused man comes forward and tells the police that he met the young girl and bought cookies from her and they don't arrest him. A woman comes forward and tells the police that she saw him with the girl and they arrest for something he has already told them. Yet the woman tells them nothing more than the accused had already told them.
It's all about perspective and context - these factors cause distortion in the narrative and how we perceive people . These also include the looks of the suspect whether he is good-looking, tough , colour ,race ,sex etc .
The music in this movie, as well as the actors brought me back in time...miss it. Today, if this movie had been made they would show the graphics of the acts and detail of the gore would be everywhere. This was so much better to not and it was a kind of happy ending to boot.

Ahh, the days when it was safe (usually) for kids to sell door to door - now it's dangerous for them to cross the street on their own!!!
It's still that safe. The media just has everyone terrified into believing it's not.
rubbish, it has never been safe for children especially in the land of guns
Hell it isn’t safe for grownups to cross the street these days or knock on strangers’ doors.
That’s Because nutters confess to murders they did not commit.

These also include the looks of the suspect whether he is good-looking, tough , colour ,race ,sex etc .
it's a made for TV movie, the entire plot is pretty weak. Especially the ending, just finishes by itself. But I've watched much worse.
That ending would never happen without the real criminal being caught.
