I enjoyed this movie, but I don't think that we should be blind to the fact that Hollywood has always made propaganda films, even though it may be subtle. What do I mean? In this film the DA is such a selfless, warrior saint for the cause of justice that it is ridiculous. In real life DA's are in it for the power and they take advantage of that power, one way or the other.
Yes it is good that such 'worthwhile entertainments' are presereved & made available to us. I'm all for better plot, script & acting. the talent is out there but... ?
It is a wonderful movie, made when I was 6 yrs old. I didn't know some people were so creative in those days, better than today's crap. Thanks for a good afternoon movie. I enjoyed it.
Exactly right. The screenwriters of 60-80 years ago had read more books and were much better at writing original stories and telling a spellbinding tale well... Notice how eventful this film is, in just 82 minutes! The writing is spare and the editing wastes no frames to tell you how much time has passed... You have to pay attention to the film as it unfolds and it keeps you on the edge of your seat, then winds it down just as quickly as it started. No prologue needed, no epilogue needed. All highly efficient.
They can't come close because the people back then where not as superficial and had a different character compared to today. 65 years of TV and Hollywood indoctrination left its mark.
I’m delighted that So-Many of Us love good-films, regardless of age (the Viewer’s OR the Film’s) - for the stories, acting, directing, cinematography, producing, etc; empty, billion-dollar ‘block-busters’ don’t satisfy a huge-majority of Viewers!
Wow classy stuff, can’t believe I hadn’t come across this. O’Keeffe, Menjou, Chapman all on top form and great supporting from Colouris, and Steven Geray as the villains. Brilliant.
Haven’t seen this movie in quite awhile. Fast pace full blown murder mystery! All star cast! Loved seeing it again! NOIR definitely B movie, never! Top of the line great movie! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, this was a very good movie with a good plot. I also like a good movie with a little dry humor. That makes it a little more interesting. Great upload.
Great to see these fantastic old movies. It is such a pity that they are destroyed by so many long and annoying advertisements. To many interruptions make viewing a irritating experience.
Thanks for taking the time to write. I feel that way about commercials but have no say in how many RUclips inserts into our movies. Personally, I subscribed to RUclips Premium ($12.99/month), which allows me to everything on RUclips without commercials.
No way of describing movies of this quality in just a few sentences but I have watched this twice also some the series thankyou for bringing it to us 5star at least ❤❤😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great film- suspense, drama, wit, etc. plus great acting. I like the little touches, such as Mr. Franz showing his dead son's WWII picture and fighting bad guys the way his son fought Nazis. As Mr. Franz dies, he knocks his boy's picture off as he falls- they put some thought into that tiny detail. Now I have to get back to EBay- when I saw the killer dame with dress clips, I decided to buy some after years of wanting some. I love the way they used to dress back then, and Tina Louis did the gowns for this one. She and the rest of the crew did their work well so we can sit back and enjoy seeing life in our Country before it all got so crazy. (04Apr23) I'm grateful to them and for this post.

I found a 1950 issue of the Mister District Attorney the other day. Falling to pieces but still an interesting window into the past. This was a really popular multi-media IP long before those words were common parlance.
I always hate it when a character of the Pawn Shop Owner's type gets Killed - the movies would always work just as well, if they only got wounded, or even less, just scratched and mussed up a little bit.
Alas, Marguerite Chapman, such a forgotten beautiful thespian actress. More gloriously easy on the eyes and an acting performance of "brilliant" in this one!
What a delightful surprise! Beyond the silly device of the gun-toting DA who does his own investigating in the street, this is a solid story, with a touch of pathos. Thank you!
In the opening of the Lady Liberty, Jennifer Joseph was just an aspiring actress/model who was told to come to the lot & pose as Liberty, they didn't tell her what it was for & the world saw her for a very long time.
A very entertaining movie. Those are the days when there were good script writers, and actors who could say more than 4 words at a time. The films had monologs with words in sentences. Ah, those were the days.😊

❤. Love the “meat” in these old movies. Todays’ movies are full of fluff… explosions, sex, dad jokes… no storyline at all. Thank you for sharing!
@Lynda812 Lynda, my gripe, all the old fart, feeble Grandpa "jokes"...so stale,so mediocre. Thanks
Oh ….superb ! The good “ole” days of black and white movies ! Thank you so very much .
A D.A. that packs a heater and gets right in the thick of things. These old movies are great fun to watch! 👍
I've got one of those hammerless Colt 32's. They handed them out to officers in WW2 because they didn't have enough Colt 45's when the war began.

So enjoyable even after so many years. Watching from India. Our films of that period never portrayed women as murderers. That was amazing
Watch Betty Davis movies she was amazing as a bad bad lady, wicked but she sure had talent.
There *isn't a lot of character depth* ... but it's a fun story.
