I agree with you about the quality of the movie. It's very, very good. But this wasn't one of Anthony Quinn's first films at all. So unlike the shoot 'em up, deeply violent films of today. I'm looking at you, Guy Ritchie and Quentin Tarantino.

I love this movie. I hadnt seen it for years. My mother said this reminded her of one of my brothers. He just fought for his family, especially me. Never killed anybody though.
There's no denying Tony Quinn was a bonafide legend. He was so good an actor that when he played the part of an Italian, people thought he was really Italian. When he played a Greek, people really believed he was Greek. Hell, some people thought he was an Eskimo after he did 'The Savage Innocents'! Yes, boys and girls. When Dylan sang Quinn the Eskimo, he was singing about Anthony. But this legend in his own time was actually Mexican. When I found that out, it blew me away. I saw him in person when he was acting in Zorba the Greek on broadway. The woman I was married to at the time was doing some art work for the people who adopted him when he was just a kid and she wanted to say hello, so we waited for him to exit the theatre after his performance. He looked to me like seven feet tall. He was very friendly and surprised when my ex told him that she knew his 'parents'. She got his handshake. I wish I had. I collect handshakes instead of autographs.
Anthony Quinn was born in Oaxaca Mexico. He came to L.A. as a very young kid and lived on hubbard and Brooklyn street in the barrio of East Los Angeles. He was a great actor.
A tour de force in acting! Very good story and Quinn hits his mark every time. Even the look on his face when he turns and leaves Bancroft on the front porch conveys in a split second what he is thinking. Granger, who I've never been a huge fan of, delivers a great and believable performance in my opinion. 24 year old Bancroft's acting is sharp (unlike someone like, for example, Ashley Judd's). A movie well worth watching!
this was directed very well. I enjoyed every minute of this film noir. Just when I thought I have seen every movie with Lee Van Cleef; here is another one I missed. Don't pass this one by. It is worth your time. Surprisingly good story. I expect good performance from Quinn and Bancroft, but I was not expecting such a good yarn. Bancroft is so young in this film that I never would have recognized her without seeing her name in the credits. And after, I kept looking for the adult woman in the young girl's face. Interestingly, she was more recognizable in her gestures and expression than in her features.
Jean Claude...I never thought much about Anthony Quinn until I saw him in a few movies someone suggested, then this one I was not aware of until I wanted to really see Anne Bancroft in it (a fine actor and gorgeous besides) ...and I never knew Quinn played a part as he does here; it is very good, one of his best performances.
Anthony Quinn could play any part. He could be the good guy, he could be the bad guy, he could be the sort-a good sort-a bad guy. He could play a Greek, a Mexican, a Filipino, or any other nationality... and he was more realistic than someone that was actually from there. Well, actually his mother was Mexican. Probably one of the best underrated star from back in his time. Always... always at the top of his game no matter what the movie, no matter the other stars in it, no matter the script, no matter what or who he played. Always 101% believable and always put 101% of himself into it. Damn... we could love to have even one of these old actors now. But instead we have..................
Great performance by my favorite Farley Granger, very intense, and emotional....and my other favorite great actor A. Quinn, always so demanding, and virile....
@@swordoff7 Damn, you are stupid! Stuart Granger was 6’ 2”, born in London in 1913 and Farley Granger 5’ 9” was born in San Jose, California in 1925 and was openly gay. Perhaps you should keep your thoughts to yourself.
Farley Granger is from the Bay Area. San Jose. Now heart of Silicon Valley. He played the inspector in a vintage 1972 Italian giallo So Sweet, So Dead.
Indeed a classic. Human nature is somewhat complex. How easily one tends to become so deceitful that indebtedness to someone blur so easily. The sorry part is that the benefactor himself comes in the crossroads and sacrifice his life. Even own dear kins becomes enemy and unscrupulous in the course of time. Anthony Quinn is brilliant.
Always loved Anthony Quinn one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema. God bless Sergio Leone who discovered Lee Van, such a handsome man he was with a great voice.
YES ! DAM GOOD FLICK ! And here's why good young actors stay. What A cast that yes, A Noir film gives it's passion to make us wanting more. Yes, dam fine flick.
Great cast . Anne Bancroft (so young and beautiful) , Anthony Quinn, Peter Graves, Lee Van Cleef, Farly Granger and a host of character actors all still young.
Watching these classic Hollywood films really puts things into perspective, particularly the opening scene of someone being set on fire in the street. A definite reflection of the era, among other things.
Despite having second star billing, Anthony Quinn dominates this movie both in the plot line and in screen time. A young(er) Anne Bancroft gives a decent performance as Quinn's sister. Farley Granger was basically at the end of his Hollywood movie career, having bought out his contract from Samuel Goldwyn to pursue acting on the stage in New York City. Granger was about 30 years old when this film was released. He basically reached the peak of his career in Alfred Hitchcock's 1951 masterpiece, "Strangers on a Train."
Yes Strangers on a Train was the last big one for Granger, but I looked up his list of acting credits and he was in a lot of TV up through the late 80's from Wagon Train and Kraft theatre to Get Smart , Ironside and Murder she Wrote plus 2 soap operas "As the World Turns" and 'Edge of Night. Also was in a lot of movies that were not well known.

Very enjoyable movie.Certainly don't make them like these anymore.Good entertainment with no bad language etc. Thanks for the upload.
You can say that again
Anthony Quinn is "King" his acting has the "sting" Bravo Anthony Quinn Sir! 👌👍👍👏👏👏
This movie had depth, and very well acted!👍👍👏👏👏
ANTHONY QUINN IS A GREAT ACTOR.
Anthony Quinn, one of my very favorites movie legends. A great actor not like most of today's....well......
Jean Claude. *#ALMIGHTYGOD**, SITS MIGHTILY ON HIS AWESOME, MAGNIFICENT AN MAJESTIC, HOLY HEAVENLY THRONE..!!!!!!!* 《 *7 7 7* 》
Elvis
Jean Claude...I never thought much about Anthony Quinn until I saw him in a few movies someone suggested, then this one I was not aware of until I wanted to really see Anne Bancroft in it (a fine actor and gorgeous besides) ...and I never knew Quinn played a part as he does here; it is very good, one of his best performances.
Jean Claude LOL!! Agree with U on that....cheers!

THANK YOU FOR POSTING I LOVE FILM- I PROBABLY NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS GEM- THANK YOU
Anthony Quinn could play any part.
Well said and well put ! And his 1972 autobiography ("The Original Sin") is a truly wonderful read ! A very intelligent & articulate fella !
I loved his son too. His son died very young.
Lee van Cleef on screen for a minute and a half before dying has got to be a record.
💥...Riveting! I loved the WHOLE MOVIE!!!
Thanks for posting this🎯
Great performance by my favorite Farley Granger, very intense, and emotional....and my other favorite great actor A. Quinn, always so demanding, and virile....
Bertha Martin,
You think Farley Granger was the father of Stuart Granger? Just thinking out loud.
@@swordoff7
Damn, you are stupid! Stuart Granger was 6’ 2”, born in London in 1913 and Farley Granger 5’ 9” was born in San Jose, California in 1925 and was openly gay.
Perhaps you should keep your thoughts to yourself.
@@stevecolley6750 anybody can make a mistake, Jesus, what an unpleasant comment !
@@swordoff7 Oooo... I think he'd have to have fathered him awfully young. In utero isn't even young enough to fit. Best not let our minds wander.
@@stevecolley6750 Princess, good God, calm down. You didn't even attack the right person, ffs. Sit down and finish your Ensure.
Quinn is one of the greatest artist
He played many variety roles which he could alone do it with great ease.
THANKS A MILLION, UPLOADER!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s not overlook the young Peter Graves, before he was TV’s Mr. Mission Impossible… nice job with him, too.
Farley Granger is from the Bay Area. San Jose. Now heart of Silicon Valley. He played the inspector in a vintage 1972 Italian giallo So Sweet, So Dead.
the perfect role for quinn-it is just made for him.i love this old stuff, simply unbeatable
A great movie! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
What a great performance by Anthony Quinn.
I agree 100 per cent !
Always loved Anthony Quinn one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema. God bless Sergio Leone who discovered Lee Van, such a handsome man he was with a great voice.
YES ! DAM GOOD FLICK !
And here's why good young actors stay.
What A cast that yes, A Noir film gives it's passion to
make us wanting more.
Thank you for posting and sharing
I totally agree !!
Thanks for sharing this great movie! Great performances and a gritty story make this well worth watching!
I could not agree more !
Just watching Quinn act is an experience = and a great one, at that!
Really great film. The acting is superb.
Anthony Quinn's versatility as an actor shines through here to culminate years later in "Zorba the Greek."
Fantastic movie! Thanks so much.
I wonder why Lee Van Cleef wasn't credited as he also was included in the cast. Wonderful film. Everyone was great.
Glad someone else spotted one of the master protagonist actor of the spaghetti westerns
I did, too. I went over the cast list twice.
Lee Van Cleef looks lot younger .... Might be he was still doing side roles around that time ....
I actually thought it was Barry Sullivan.
He is factually the Coolest Man to have ever lived.
Quinn’s in a lotta classic movies 😊
Great character writing with a story behind it 👍
What a cast! TY
He basically reached the peak of his career in Alfred Hitchcock's 1951 masterpiece, "Strangers on a Train."
p
FG was in a Murder She Wrote episode. Hardly looked old enough.
There was more to what Farley Granger did. See "The Celluloid Closet"
@@NeverDauntedRadioNetwork See "Rope".
Boy some people just can't turn the corner to make a fresh start AQ and P G shore made it a great movie thank you for bringing it to us this was A a very good story 😢😢❤❤
Another great film, many thanks for sharing.
Nice swipe at TV when Regal grasps at the rooftop antenna before fall. Also, Lee van cleef in speaking role too small for the credits.
Love that road sign " .. the life you save may be your own." Nice PSA touch. + Jeanne Cooper, too.
