Alan, I think that was a very fair test. In my opinion, Oluv has put a lot of time and energy into this speaker. And he got the most out of it (it's worth listening to the videos on the patreon site). The Earfün, on the other hand, managed to fuck it all up. Buggy app, not final firmware. As if their goal was to sell as few speakers as possible. And, then there's the couponing ... It's a real pain in the ass.
@@alanrossreviews We’ve chatted about this before, there’s definitely a disconnect. Earfun is not a brand that would normally put this much effort into acoustics, I’m honestly surprised this branding partnership is still ongoing.
Great review, as always. I will 100% get uboom x. Partally because of oluvs but also i really like the *Ballanced sound. Im waiting for your 0.39 firmware rewiev! Also idk why but i wanna see a compareson against 2 soundcore motion booms XD
the question is always going to be with what presets? and this is why i doubt i will review this again, its ridiculous having 37 presets. its all too much work for em anyways. i have to move on 😁
What baffles me is why Oluv continues to work with Earfun. Partially based on their previous history with the firmware screwups but also not promoting a link for him after he took so much time to tune their product. I guess he must think it's still worth it overall or he wouldn't continue to do it but like him or not it looks like he's getting the short end of the stick (at least on the surface). 🤷♂️ I am glad the two of you are getting along now. I know both of you have had your differences in the past and you're doing him a solid promoting his link so I hope he appreciates it. Not sure if I'll grab this one or not. 🤔 I'll definitely use the Oluv link when/if I do, though. I think I'll wait a while until the firmwares settle down and revisit the idea of purchasing. Anyway, thank you for another excellent review and comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏
lets be realistic, since he lost his channel just as the uboom launches its in his interest to be on good terms with me. he did thank me for the review after the video and hopes i try 0.39 at some point. so yes we genuinely are getting on but also im not stupid 😉 his sidekick the backstabbing dominik reviews couldn't wait to stick the boot in for not using 0.39. Why is it that manufacturers possess the knowledge and skills to design and produce speakers, yet they often lack the final touch needed to tune and polish the sound to perfection? Instead, they reach out to RUclipsrs to complete this crucial part . Is this a marketing strategy?
It's because (drum roll please) they don't care at all about the product. They only care about the number of people who will click the "order" button. There are some slight exceptions with companies like Minirig or Vifa maby but those are either very small and have other issues or simply die out...
Electronics and good ear or even understanding of good sound or measurements don't go hand in hand. Certainly especially in chi-fi IEMs working with influencers is a big business, but also many do fantastic work compared to a lot of the mamufacturer's own tunings. Oluv is so small and irrelevant as a branding name that the reason is exactly for the sound quality and a bit for the small niche follower group that loves his work.
Thank you for this review Alan. My Uboom arrived today (ordered from Amaxon through your link here). Once charged, I connected the app and it immediately upgraded to Firmware version 0.39! Really easy! I am no expert, but it sounds REALLY good to me (moderate volume using Oluv's Indoor+ EQ). The app is a bit "quirky", as you have pointed out. But I can live with that (and hopefully it will improve....) for £120!!!. Got a phone call while I was playing about with it (That's what she said!!!) and it seemed to work just fine. I plan to order a second one this weekend...... Thanks again :O)
@@alanrossreviews FYI it seems to have gone back up to £150 on Amazon. I'll wait until it comes back down. Still sounds good. Have listend to a lot of different genres of music (including a bit of Vivaldi) on it and, after a bit of a play with the EQs, they all found great. Also, there was an additional 5% discount if you bought 2 at the same time. So, maybe others could get 2 of them with the £30.00 off, (each?) 5% with your code and 5% off for buying 2 of them? Would be interested to see if anyone gets away with this... Anyway, sorry about the long post (That's what she said!!!). But thank you very much for your unique, honest reviews Al. Thank you Alan for a great review. There’s such a thing as having too many choices, and these EQs are a good example. Thank you especially for pointing out the invisible buttons, which I have come to despise on so many speakers. Kudos to Soundcore for the backlit buttons on their motion series.
I definitely plan on picking one up at some point, hopefully by the time i get it they will have the new firmware for it, otherwise it seems good for the discounted price but not necessarily for the 160$ normally
@@Jagistreviews You had to turn it up, which was annoying. Some EQ settings worked with some songs, it was kinda all over the place to me. The bass was definitely deeper but the Blast is punchier. Put it this way, it didn't fair well enough for me to keep it. I would've probably kept it had I not had the other speakers.
Just the review i have been waiting for! Even if your videos go for 3hrs, I'll sit right through & all the ads like I've always done, it's educative, entertaining & much more Well, coming to this Uboom X, I'd say it's a good value for money at the price point, i don't like the lights, they look cheaply made, i know you can always turn it off, it's better not be there in the first place, 37 what??? Nah i refuse to be confused by what to choose😂, if I'm to use this speaker, I'll mostly leave it on Outdoor mode only most of the time, that's the only one that pleases my ears Overall it's a great speaker but I'll still choose the Blast for the following reasons, better sound quality, better lights, great value too for what it offers, better battery life among the 3 of them, i love the design too, can't complain much about the weight & mains charging, it's still the best for me amongst them More power to you Alan! Cheers!!
the indoor mode sounds good to my ear, but honestly I'll never buy a speaker that heavy, if its for home use you can buy high quality wired stereo speakers which will be much more pleasing in terms of sound quality, and for traveling there's the flex/uboom l/motion plus/flip 6 options which will all do the job nicely. thanks for the review 😇 I see 2 dislikes so far, which means oluf and his mom 😁
ha! no Olaf is my friend now 😝 its normally that AudioTechniker guy and some other Oluv supporter. they dont know how to let go 😁 its all good, it really isnt a big deal to me.
Thank you Alan for the time and effort you put into this review (as usual) Not sure why so many people have been aggressively and passionately defending a speaker that they don’t even own yet. Was a little skeptical when Oluv who has a financial interest in this speaker claimed it sounded better than the HK G+P 3. Maybe it does. I’m not in a position to say. But it seems foolish (from a business standpoint) to make a speaker that performs better than a $350 speaker and sell at this price
@@alanrossreviews -- Thanks for your review. I just stumbled across your channel after seeing the Earfun Uboom speaker, both things are new to me :-) Btw, call it strictly "Price/Performance Ratio", how many bangs for a buck. Price is an important consideration, esp. when the price gap is significant. The now popular term, "At what price?" borrowing from the geopolitical jargon in the recent years :-) Greetings from Asia!
Hi Alan, You are a legend! I got my uboom x today. Insane price of 78 uk pounds Played with it for a bit Then watched this video / semi-like a Netflix mini series of the Uboom x with the 🪛 job to Oluv Its funny how I singled out the indoor plus & outdoor as the more ear friendly to my taste before watching your video Happy Holidays & All the Best in 2025! 🫡
I got my own Stormbox Blast yesterday. And I'm along with my wife ,kids and mom are loving every moment with it. Thank you for the reviews and your opinions. As you mentioned, I am in love with the blasts hifi-ish sound. Cheers Alan! I know there's a version 2 coming, but how much better can it get, right?
Greetings! Earfun Uboom X seems to have succeeded: it sounds a little better than other speakers... The stereo distribution is more noticeable. Before that, I considered Anker speakers to be the best in stereo effect. Thanks Alan!
@@alanrossreviews Thank you for the Heads-up.. I will go for either x20 or Blast 2 depends on which is cheaper in my country when blast 2 released. since wking x20 was my preference for choosing boombox karaoke speaker.
Alan, I love and appreciate your reviews! Earfun made a public firmware shortly after release, and since then Tribit Stormbox Blast has also made a firmware update that sounds better to my ears. I understand why you didn't want to update the firmware in this video, but Earfun did come through on their promise! Any chance you would test the latest (corrected) UboomX and latest Tribit against each other?
How dumb is that. This is why I do research first before I buy into all the hype. You’ve got people on Reddit subs claiming this thing is the new king and beats a JBL boombox 2. After reading what you just typed this is too much bs and nonsense. Firmware? Call me old fashioned but if you have to mess with the speaker and tune it to make it sound good. I prefer my stuff to … ya know? Sound good out of the box??????? This is like when I bought into the soundcore hype and quickly lose interest because i realized you have to tune the speaker for damn near every song or different genre. You guys and your bs with these cheap brands, and over analyzing of the specs, tuning etc is so far gone it’s delusional. No i wont be paying money for these cheap crap boxes.
@@grimsquad273i wouldn't say you're old fashioned. More like simple. Even old fashioned audio competition tuned their EQ for competition to make the best out of it. Your preference is not everyone's preference. Wonder why a lot of people also say JBL is over rated over priced? No? Because you're the only person that exist? Why come here and throw a tantrum because of what someone else like to do?
there are 37 eqs. where does a reviewer start. sadly i think this speaker is almost unreviewable for most. especially when its issues are taken into account.
I’m kinda Earfun fan so I will purchase an Uboom X and I’m waiting the release of the first batch. Nevertheless I was eager to hear your thoughts about it because I respect so much your honest and unbiased opinion. And it’s obvious how much work you put before this review. Thank you.
Good thing is the first thing that was prompted in the app was the 0.39 firmware update. Despite the app being a little crap, more than happy with this thing, I actually think it tops my stereo Uboom l setup but that could just be me ;)
Do you have any comments between uboom x and soundcore boom 2? I know they are different sizes / categories. I would prefer the size of the boom, but thought I'd hold out and wait for the uboom X granted the shortcomings of the boom... Now I'm unsure of what to buy between the 2. I wish the soundcore boom was better or the uboom was slightly smaller/slightly better reviewed... After so many years still hard to come by a speaker that checks more boxes.
@@alanrossreviews would you get one over the other, which has better sound quality and more bass when it came to the better eq settings of indoor+ or outdoor? Appreciate any help
Great value for sure but I think in the long run the Blast comes across as a better deal to be honest especially if you're listening to a wider range of music. But hearing you say that the current model of the of Blast also has issues. Bloody hell. I'm scared to buy any bluetooth speaker now. BTW Alan I wholly appreciate that you did not show us graphs of 37 EQs - bloody hell. On top of that no physical button to cycle through any of the EQs either?

I genuinely think this could be a great speaker for the price. But it needs a bit of tweaking. They should do an Alan Ross Edition with your personal EQ's. I'd definitely buy that version
I've got quite a few portables. My favorite is the Tribit Stormbox Blast, but it's not very portable due to it's size and weight. So, I use it as my computer/tv speaker. And, I love both the W King X10 and W King D8 as best bang for your buck speakers.

I remember the last 2 videos on Oluvs channel before it was taken down. He used his binaural recording and the speaker sounded amazing both inside and outside. I don't get the same results when listening to your or Jays tests. Did Earfun change the specs after the tuning or is this due to the recording technique? I'm just wondering. It certainly adds to the drama surrounding the speaker. (which is always good for sales) Btw, is there a historical analysis of the use of Piston Move ?
perhaps he was using his latest 0.39 firmware which he says fixes a lot of issues. if so why doesnt earfun load it onto their servers and into the app?
@@alanrossreviews Ah ok, maybe it was due to the complexity of his tunings then. I can't remember and I can't go back and recheck since his youtube got axed. But anyways, loved the review, it gave me some extra insight
Amazing review as always Alan. It looks like a good contender for the price and interesting switch for me after soundcore neutered the Motion Boom to favour the Boom 2. I like to think I vote with my wallet and I definitely don't support such a scummy move from them. I do wonder, due to your limited time to do videos do you think you could make a short video follow up once the software is updated? I think its probable it will available to download right away when the speaker is released since they already have it working.
@jacobdavidson9752 Not just 2024, i bought one in 2021, another in 2023 & again in 2024, 2023 & 2024 is exactly thesame but 2021 is different both in quality & tuning
@@alanrossreviews It would need to be figured out, honestly. Perhaps only a comparison between some of the presets or a simple annotation on this video acknowledging if the supposed improvements are real or not. Maybe the easiest solution could be to link to another reviewer that did the 0.39?
what about the distortion issues that "jay's straight up reviews" was talking ...? he was saying that it was kinda unlistenable on one of oluv's bass boosted sound signature ... did you notice that heavy distortion ...?
of course some of the more extreme bass modes are heavily sculpted and boosted in narrow areas. therefore your tracks will be a big reason why it will distort or not distort depending on what regions they hit. i would be very surprised if jay has ever loaded a track into a spectogram to ensure the tracks are balanced enough throughout to make good test tracks. didnt jay say default was the loudest mode? if so enough said about that.
@@alanrossreviews what the ... default was like 10 dB down compared to the loudest one in your test ... however, I didn't pay too much attention to his videos ... it's kinda good that the Uboom X got deeper bass like the Blast and goes pretty loud for that kinda size ...
@@alanrossreviews I actually stated in the first look video that the default EQ was louder than the bottom list of Oluv's EQ's at the particular volume level I was on.
@@alanrossreviews if you are referring to what I think you are, I showed an example of Studio vs default EQ at 60% volume. Where exactly did I state default was the loudest EQ?
Hello Alan. Thank you very much for your energy, input and the time you spent reviewing these speakers! Within the last couple of days, I bought Tribit Blast 1 and Boom Plus 2 and was going to choose between these two but then, I came across Uboom X when reading online reviews... I am more into the quality and clarity of music rather than loudness... What is your personal choice between these 3 speakers? Tribit Blast?
@alanrossreviews Thank you, Alan, for your reply! It would be great to get the Go Play 3, but it’s double the price of both the Boom 2 Plus and Tribet 1 (paid £140 for each) as we are based in the UK (((((
Can you please make a firmware update to the latest and compare it with this video and new firmware as boomxXX should be the loudest. Also do custom eq for boom 2 plus and blast on your next video 🙏🙏
@@alanrossreviews HI Alan! I also watch through the entire video, so much information that too good to have. I believe most of the issues can be fixed, but if earfun do it too slow then people would just give the "death penalty" mark on UboomX and the customer would never look back into it. The speaker should have been in factory production for like 3 months now and yet they can't fix the problem and just ignoring Oluv's Vaule, let's not mentioned the 25% discount code they given to you... But I am really concerning about the 3K dip issue you mentioned in the video, it would be a deal breaker if it is a hardware problem and happens in a lot of units, do you know why that is happening?
Hi Alan, do you have plans for a second look on the uboomx when the new firmware comes? Oluv thinks, it will come through App in a few days. A couple of times i was with Oluv and bought what he praised, but here im hesitating. As it is now (by your Video) - Stormbox wins. I am really courious if the new firmware could change that.
Ive had several android phones and all of them produced diffderent sound via bluetooth, the worst being a honor magic 4 pro. Currently on a pixel and sound is pretty good. If anyone has anything to offer on what android pjone sounds best, please let me know haha
Dirty what earfun is doing to him. Would like to see an eq done by you compared to his eqs. I like the multiple eqs provided, it would be nice to see them correct the labelling or his eqs.
Earfun are highway robbers. This speaker sounds better than any other major branded or Chinese branded speakers. He should have shares from every sale.
Thank you for the review. Im leaning towards the boom2 plus. May i ask, how does the firmware of uboomx update? I hope its not through pc. Thanks. Its priced fairly imo. Stay safe 👍🏼
At this moment I received an e-mail from Earfun support saying that firmware 0.39 is out. Alan, could you please have a look and write down your opinion in a few lines? I'd like the speaker, but until the Oluv presets and phone/speaker sync are fixed, I don't want to order it.
Just don't order it until you see a few more genuine reviews. Who's to know that it will be the same FM that Oluv has approved from his side. Bear in mind that Earfun were doing updates and not really saving each iteration or something like this, Alan pointed this out during the review here. As I said before it's a mess.
I wonder if oluv had any say in the design of this speaker. Because it’s so generic looking it’s painful. Also, the timing of oluv losing his RUclips just when this speaker was about to launch kinda sucks.
@@waynedexter yup. And no this was what they handed him. Im pretty sure earfun have little say in speakers design, pretty sure they buy off the shelf prototypes. Just my guess.
49:10 I literally spit a little of the water out that I was sipping. Who the heck thought default sounded "loudest" or "best" at 100% volume on that thing??? Man, you gotta feel bad for Oluv. I never really liked the guy but he did a lot of work on that speaker. Just listening to "default" tells the tale. The Boom 2 Plus actually sounds the "best" to me at 100% even though it is seriously lacking in any sort of deep bass at that point. That's about all I can praise modern soundcore for, at least they seemed to have reigned in the distortion a bit and the overextending at max volume.
@@alanrossreviews Yeah and unfortunately I am not a huge fan of the mid-bass lol. I do have to say that I am a little more tolerant at 100% volume though I guess. I am so angry that they fumbled at the goal line with that speaker. it could have been pretty great I think. But no, we gotta put obnoxiously large LED lights on the friggin PRs. Brilliant!
The history seems to be repeating itself with uboom x. The firmware issue again 🤣 . The same chaos as there was with the uboom L. VERY ODD behaviour on behalf of earfun. Have already seen people returning their devices due to the "unintended" firmware. I was planning to order but now I am hesitant. Waiting for more reviews. Yours ?😁
@@alanrossreviews Ah, they were originally advertising with siri support, I guess they dropped that in the final version. I could use an appletv to drive them instead - I'd probably link 2 of them in stereo with the aux jacks.
37 EQs is just silly. They should have just 3- Earfun, Oluv and Custom, and perhaps an "Indoor/Outdoor" toggle for each, which ends up with a total of 6 EQ options. They should also take a page out of the software world and have the app automatically check for and download any new firmware once the BT speaker is connected - then you will be automatically using the latest firmware for the speaker :-). The scooped out midbass at higher levels is curious, and I'm wondering why they chose to do that. Around the Fb of the PRs (50 Hz), it should be possible to feed the bass drivers up to the limit of the internal amplifier. Assuming that they roll off the amplifier output below Fb, around 1.4*Fb is I think where the drivers are most likely to run out of excursion as the volume is turned up, but that works out to 70 Hz here, not above 100 Hz where the "scoop" is happening. Great review, BTW, but I do miss the FR graphs :-).
yeah problem is a lot of these firmwares are a backward step, i would not like automatic updates to be honest. the scooping is just to create more deep bass feel jbl style while working within the limits of the dynamic range. it does distort quite readily without that sculpting while pushing the volumes.
Awesome review, uboom x looks promising, but to my supprise the boom plus 2 sounds clarely the best at 100% the earfun sounds earpiercing listning through my two stormbox blast in stereo, I've been thinking of getting boom plus 2 for an outdoor speaker, as I love the weigh performance ratio on my boom plus, witch of this speakes would you recomend for using outdoor? Boom plus 2 or uboom x?
@@jann8490 uboomX will sound better, as mentioned in this video this is an older and thus "broken" firmware so 0.39 should sound bit better and fix many things. Mb give it some time too, we will see..
uboom x is obviously squeezing every last ounce it can and the soundcore is straining less so yes boom 2 plus will be better for max volume from that point of view. its bigger and has more power at the end of the day but also more expensive.
@@Flyingboots1 wdym? Plus nobody mentioned the tribit blast here.. The blast 2 is still to come, you don't know how it will sound, therefore is a class above this speaker for size and power(so not the same as the OG blast).
At maximum volumes which speaker is superior in your subjective opinion, the Soundcore Boom 2 (non plus) or the Earfun Uboom X? I understand these are not technically comparable categories but for my purposes they are.
As someone holding on to an older Galaxy s20 Ultra (I like having an SD card...), I have had nothing but issues with AAC. Really odd stuff like cutting in and out etc.
AAC on android 14 and up is comparable to SBC. Slight compression artifacts on low bit rate music. Flac, no difference if maybe slightly in favour of AAC. Tested on Honor 5pro.
Which one would you get if you could get the boom 2 plus for 99 eur vs the uboom x for 118 eur? I care about deep bass and good quality at both low and high volumes as well as portability
@@Flyingboots1 Thanks! I thought this was solved with the new firmware? Anyway, the soundcore prices are so tempting, 60 eur for boom 2 and 98 for the boom 2 plus, could get both 🤔

Thanks again :O)
yah it certainly seems worth the money. (thats what she said???) 😁
@@alanrossreviews FYI it seems to have gone back up to £150 on Amazon. I'll wait until it comes back down. Still sounds good. Have listend to a lot of different genres of music (including a bit of Vivaldi) on it and, after a bit of a play with the EQs, they all found great. Ground 0 (Uluv's EQ) is excellent, for me, with Rock, Dance, and EDM. Especially when you put the unit on its back....that's what she said!!! 🤣

Soooo. I went into my missus's Amazon account. And, the £30.00 off was there, even when I went into the Amazon basket. Sooo, I applied your discount code.....Et Voila!!!
The second one is arriving tomorrow! Cost was £112.50.....Blinkin' BARGAIN!!!
Looks like Amazon is limiting the discount to a single device per Amazon customer account....
You are a diamond geezer!!!
Thank you Alan for a great review. There’s such a thing as having too many choices, and these EQs are a good example. Thank you especially for pointing out the invisible buttons, which I have come to despise on so many speakers. Kudos to Soundcore for the backlit buttons on their motion series.
yes its built to a budget at the end of the day but here the issue is compounded by being right under the shadow of the handle.

Just the review i have been waiting for!
Even if your videos go for 3hrs, I'll sit right through & all the ads like I've always done, it's educative, entertaining & much more
Well, coming to this Uboom X, I'd say it's a good value for money at the price point, i don't like the lights, they look cheaply made, i know you can always turn it off, it's better not be there in the first place, 37 what??? Nah i refuse to be confused by what to choose😂, if I'm to use this speaker, I'll mostly leave it on Outdoor mode only most of the time, that's the only one that pleases my ears
Overall it's a great speaker but I'll still choose the Blast for the following reasons, better sound quality, better lights, great value too for what it offers, better battery life among the 3 of them, i love the design too, can't complain much about the weight & mains charging, it's still the best for me amongst them
More power to you Alan!
Cheers!!
yup i prefer the blast and i prefer the go play 3 to the blast 👍

the indoor mode sounds good to my ear, but honestly I'll never buy a speaker that heavy, if its for home use you can buy high quality wired stereo speakers which will be much more pleasing in terms of sound quality, and for traveling there's the flex/uboom l/motion plus/flip 6 options which will all do the job nicely. thanks for the review 😇 I see 2 dislikes so far, which means oluf and his mom 😁

Not sure why so many people have been aggressively and passionately defending a speaker that they don’t even own yet.

How dumb is that. This is why I do research first before I buy into all the hype. You’ve got people on Reddit subs claiming this thing is the new king and beats a JBL boombox 2.
After reading what you just typed this is too much bs and nonsense.

I do wonder, due to your limited time to do videos do you think you could make a short video follow up once the software is updated? I think its probable it will available to download right away when the speaker is released since they already have it working.

what about the distortion issues that "jay's straight up reviews" was talking ...? he was saying that it was kinda unlistenable on one of oluv's bass boosted sound signature ... did you notice that heavy distortion ...?
of course some of the more extreme bass modes are heavily sculpted and boosted in narrow areas. therefore your tracks will be a big reason why it will distort or not distort depending on what regions they hit. i would be very surprised if jay has ever loaded a track into a spectogram to ensure the tracks are balanced enough throughout to make good test tracks. didnt jay say default was the loudest mode? if so enough said about that.

I never really liked the guy but he did a lot of work on that speaker. Just listening to "default" tells the tale.
The Boom 2 Plus actually sounds the "best" to me at 100% even though it is seriously lacking in any sort of deep bass at that point. That's about all I can praise modern soundcore for, at least they seemed to have reigned in the distortion a bit and the overextending at max volume.
for sure the boom 2 plus has the most natural headroom. its mid bass heaven though 😝
@@alanrossreviews Yeah and unfortunately I am not a huge fan of the mid-bass lol. I do have to say that I am a little more tolerant at 100% volume though I guess.

@@alanrossreviews Ah, they were originally advertising with siri support, I guess they dropped that in the final version. I could use an appletv to drive them instead - I'd probably link 2 of them in stereo with the aux jacks.
There is a loud whistle or kettle sound at 100% volume on your Blast recording. Didn't you hear that? It's obvious.
Been waiting for this ! I got the Blast based off your reviews a couple months back. Worth getting the X?
not if you have the blast.
I have the same question.
@@jann8490 uboomX will sound better, as mentioned in this video this is an older and thus "broken" firmware so 0.39 should sound bit better and fix many things.
Mb give it some time too, we will see..
@@asunavk69 Nah, speakers trash! Too much drama and indecisiveness surrounding it. Going with the Blast 2.
uboom x is obviously squeezing every last ounce it can and the soundcore is straining less so yes boom 2 plus will be better for max volume from that point of view. its bigger and has more power at the end of the day but also more expensive.
@@Flyingboots1 wdym? Plus nobody mentioned the tribit blast here..
The blast 2 is still to come, you don't know how it will sound, therefore is a class above this speaker for size and power(so not the same as the OG blast).
nice video 💪
Thanks 🔥
@@alanrossreviews np💪
Tribit stormbox blast 2 should be out this month will You also will review it?
yup, when it get it
At maximum volumes which speaker is superior in your subjective opinion, the Soundcore Boom 2 (non plus) or the Earfun Uboom X?
I understand these are not technically comparable categories but for my purposes they are.
overall id go uboom x
@@alanrossreviews Thank you!
As someone holding on to an older Galaxy s20 Ultra (I like having an SD card...), I have had nothing but issues with AAC. Really odd stuff like cutting in and out etc.
Yeah these companies need to stop defaulting to aac on android. Crazy 🤪
Ehm... what shoud i buy among those three? Please give me an answer! Please!
its pretty much the point of the video 😂 i cannot tell you this, for me personally the blast
@@alanrossreviews exactly what I wanted to know, your opinion. Thanks!
What about the deep between 3 and 4 kHz? Do the UBoom X and the BOOM 2 Plus suffer from similar issues on different frequencies?
AAC on android 14 and up is comparable to SBC. Slight compression artifacts on low bit rate music. Flac, no difference if maybe slightly in favour of AAC. Tested on Honor 5pro.
its not just about sound, latency is worse too.
Blast 🔥💪🏻
👍
$117 for the uboom x or $170 for the stormbox blast (usd)
uboom x the better deal at that price or is the stormbox blast worth the extra money?
hum, blast is still better quality so will depend on your ears.
What do you think of gamesky saying this speaker has subwoofers? He doubled down and said im wrong lol. Apparently tweeters can do mids as well.
Ignore the drama surrounding the Uboom speakers and just go with a different brand.
I replied on your comment on his channel. Not sure why he doubled down on his mistake 🤔
@@alanrossreviews He was either paid to say it or he genuinely just doesn't know what he's talking about.
@@IamJay02 yup 😁😁
Which one would you get if you could get the boom 2 plus for 99 eur vs the uboom x for 118 eur? I care about deep bass and good quality at both low and high volumes as well as portability
The boom 2 plus, the Uboom X has a really bad clipping issue at higher volumes.
@@Flyingboots1 Thanks! I thought this was solved with the new firmware? Anyway, the soundcore prices are so tempting, 60 eur for boom 2 and 98 for the boom 2 plus, could get both 🤔
@@PsyloFrequencies-xr9kz if it was literally those two id get the uboom x but i prefer the blast 1 over both.
@@PsyloFrequencies-xr9kz no it still clips at higher volumes with certain songs
@@alanrossreviewsthanks! Even if the boom 2 plus is 20 eur cheaper? Is there a big difference in portability, battery life and how well they hold in an outdoor setting?
I have seen in a few Reddit comments regarding speakers that the one you are reviewing in this video is the most balanced sound would you say that’s true ?
nope!
Hi, comparison bb3 vs 2x minirigs 4 + sub
Keep em coming! (Thats what she....)
always 😁😁
Hi @alanrossreviews, can we have your opinion on the xiaomi bluetooth speaker with Harman audioEFX?
Well Xiaomi make very good phones anyhow, I can say that for sure. I just looked up the new Xiaomi Bluetooth Speaker 40w looks like it could be interesting for it's size and probable price bracket. Not sure about the how they named it though, or really lack of a proper name. 😗
Please review bose soundlink flex gen 2
I'm not an expert but it looks like a prototype of the blast. Seems it's more portable than the blast. Good
smaller but not much different weight wise
@@alanrossreviews I think it's a bit portable than the blast but I'm eager to replace my blast 1 with the upcoming 2 but darn it, it's so big. Thanks.
@@jokjoan yes its not really a blast 2. its a totally different speaker.
@@alanrossreviews very big but I'll still get one. I have a pair of blast 1s and will sell only one. Too bad the form factor of the blast 1 is already perfect. This uboom seems a compact blast 1 which is intriguing
@@jokjoan tribit seem another company losing their way.
Do your Earfun Uboom X also lose battery when it is not in use?
My battery level dropped from 100% to 92% in three days of non-use.
@@vts4054 i havent tested this. Will check it out.
That's normal nothing to worry about!
Yes, it's common factor I found in my earfun L and slim, Bose speakers.. But I don't know about this one
