How much physical work will this require? I'd love to learn the skills but I'm pretty limited in my physical abilities while recovering from Open Heart Surgery.
Christmas cards- I cut up the non-picture ones into small gift tags each year, it’s a fun and super simple way to repurpose them. Bonus- my kids enjoy helping to cut them up! It takes about ten minutes and it feels good to share the kindness in a new gift with a cute tag for someone else.
Happy New year ☺️ We don't get important paper letters anymore in Denmark. All letters from the goverment, tax, dentist, doctors, car stuff, schools and so on, we get that in an "e box" online. Every Dane over 18 years old, has a private e-box. We have had that for maybe 5 or 10 years now. I really have forgotten how it is to get a paper letter or an paper invoice. ☺️ Ps. I don't get paper advertisments by mail. I just use an app. And we don't use cupons in Denmark. No paper clutter here. ☺️
Our family receives very little mail/paper anymore either; most bills/notices/gov't forms...everything is Online through E-mail...we don't send or receive cards very much either.
Similar here. I maybe check the mail once a week. I don't have a pile of papers anywhere and noone sends Christmas cards! Everything is online and set up for prepayment. Not sure what I would put in a 'Sunday Basket'.
If some one don't have internet, then they will get a paper letter. But it is only a very few. Maybe the very old people or home less people. But maybe 80-90% of the people in Denmark have an e-box, I would think. ☺️
Events of 2020--some good some bad--have heightened my anxiety. Your words today is the perfect reminder that God is in control and I need to find my peace in Him. In the past, before I tossed the Christmas cards I grabbed one each day and prayed for the person/family that sent it.
Here’s another great verse to go along with what Diana was talking about. “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Proverbs 16:9.
I keep ONE card immediate family and I'll tell you why. I have a card from my grandmother congratulating me on my wedding early May (many years ago). She passed at the end of May that year. I have her handwriting, her lovely note, and I know she was happy. I love it!
I called the "Sunday Basket" my "Someday Basket", because I know how hard it is to get around to doing t If a wholevlot of others akso used thecwirds "Someday Basket", tgen i guess a lot of rekate to the udea xxv of needing a "system". Either way, ir's great to have cheerleaders on our side and to be able to celebrate all our victories--even if they are small ones!
Would you mind explaining this a bit more? :-) A pin board, or one of these French boards with crisscross ribbon... in a certain place, or... We get Christmas letters with photos, too, and I like that idea of having them as a reminder to pray. :-)
I do this too; if someone sends me a photo card I keep it on a photo prayer board... but then if they send me a new one the next year, I swap it out with the old one so I'm not keeping years' worth of pictures of the same people :).
When my kids were young and we were broke. I would cut the old Christmas card fronts into 1 inch strips and add them chain style to tbe previous years' chain.
I'm in the UK and the Archbishop of Canterbury suggested keeping the part where the sender wrote the names and using them as prayer cards throughout the year.
Dawn, I love how you sound like my head - “it’s too overwhelming”. I don’t always realize why I avoid stuff but you put your finger on it. It’s too overwhelming. And you go further and show what to do about it to keep it from being overwhelming.
The part about light and darkness not being able to live in the same place got me!! I needed to hear that. Between the continued pandemic, deciding to leave my job, and actually having covid along with my husband and son in April ... my anxiety level and fear has never been like this. Nearly losing my husband to it in ICU has really given me PTSD I think. I’m so fearful of repeating that experience and the outcome being worse next time. Also so scared for my daughter to get it bc she has Lupus. I worked in healthcare 26 years and left after what we dealt with bc I could not risk bringing in back into the house again. :(
I'm glad you revisited the Sunday basket! I didn't think I needed one since I pay my bills online and have a calendar marked up with important info. But... with your explanation today I see that I need a better system of keeping track of my 'to do' lists, goals/projects for the year, pictures for inspiration, etc because I do not have these in one place.
Ladies, the idea of things coming back around really spoke to me. I went to college for Radio at Brown in Mendota Heights. I adored it, but for a multitude of reasons and excuses (mostly fear) I didn't pursue it as a career. I've been a stay at home mom and now caregive for my mom with Dementia full-time. The idea of editing podcasts and doing voiceover work from home came to my attention recently and I can't get it out of my mind. My daughter will be in kindergarten next year, but I still need to be home to care for my mom. Maybe this is what God is placing on my heart to do, even if it's been over 10 years since college. This gave me a lot of peace, thank you.
I think this might be what I call a God moment or opportunity for you. If you’re feeling a little excited thinking about it, educate yourself so you’ll be prepared for your dream job. Good luck!
I agree Dawn. I enjoyed Diana's Bible study so much. I just love listening to her. And she gives me a better understanding. Can't wait for her to make that decision. I hope you all have a fantastic New Year.
Not one to typically comment, but felt compelled to say, THANK YOU! Dawn, I've truly appreciated your advice regarding minimalism & decluttering and all the work you've put into your videos. I've also appreciated the Sunday videos with Diana and sharing y'all's gift of faith. Diana's genuine generosity of spreading love through His word always comes through. Side note: My word this year is: intention. I realize that's probably cliche, but I struggled with finding the right word & “intention/intentional” just kept coming to mind. My plan for this year is to be intentional with everything I do. It's something I've been lacking, especially the past year and a half. It’s funny, but just with that one word, I feel more positive about the future than I have in a long time. So..... I’m intentionally telling you and Diana thank you and that you are appreciated! Happy New Year! ❤️
I am still really new to your channel, but in the last few days I have made such changes. When I got divorced I had to move into a small apartment and the contents of the old house got dumped in here in one night. Furniture, clothes, holiday items....you name it, it got dumped. For 2 years I was really struggling to let things go. With your help I have new a new outlook and have given myself permission to let go. I am seeing a home take shape now and don't feel like I am living in a storage unit! Thank you! And thank God for leading me to your channel!
Oh thank you for this video 💕I am in the last 1/2 of my life and finally following what I believe God has meant for me all along...with my children’s songs. It was also my Mom’s last wish for me to do this. In the moment she said that to me, (three days before she died) I felt the earth shift, and just knew this is right. It’s not easy, and doubt comes to me sometimes, but I pray, listen, and trust I am on the right path. Bless you and Happy New Year! 🎉💕🙏 Oh and regarding Christmas cards, preschools and day cares will take them!! I taught for over 20 years and loved having boxes of cards because children can use them to write and especially to cut! The sturdy paper makes it easier for little hands to practice using scissors! ❤️
I’ve kept all of my Christmas cards over the years. I’ve severely minimized my seasonal decorations and string up my Christmas cards - old and new instead. It’s so comforting to read cards from loved ones who are long gone. They’re much more meaningful to me than any store bought decoration.
As a mom of an almost empty nest, I've never regretted staying home with my kids. It has always been the desire of my heart; To raise children into adults of character is the most important job I can do, IMO. Who they are as humans, caring, compassionate, self sufficient, etc. is everlasting. Everything else is temporal. The time is so short and there will be plenty of opportunity for me that will absolutely "come back around". 😊
I have only just found your channel yesterday. I’m not a mom to little ones anymore; my girls are grown and have been launched in their lives for years. But I listened anyway. I got to the end of this video and was stopped in my tracks by your sister’s prayer. I *am the prodigal child and I *have a prodigal child. I deeply needed to hear this prayer. Thank you.
I had to be hard on myself and stop saving the picture Christmas cards. So much love for all of these people!! So each card goes with a prayer for them to have Peace in their hearts and Joy in their lives. And that the coming Christmas I see the same smiles again ❤️🙂
I LOVE when Diana speaks on this channel!!! It really blesses me. Thank you for all the great work that you two are doing in the world and here on RUclips. ♥️
I have been following The Minimal Mom for over a year and I love seeing how Dawn & Tom have come out of their shells! Well Tom never had a shell but he seems to be enjoying himself now. I feel like Diana has grown in minimalism along with me this past year! Y'all are like family. Here's to 2021!!!
The loving connection you two have! So heart warming. I know that if my sister had not gotten her angel wings so soon, we would be as deeply connected as you are. Well, actually we are. But in a different way.
You both have such beautiful children.....the clip with Adeline feeding the baby was beautiful, she was beaming....so heartwarming....I look forward to Sunday’s with you.....God bless both of you....
I am semi-new to owning an actual “Sunday Basket,” and I have to tell you it is wonderful! Yes, people can create a likeness of the actual box, but the real magic is in the membership, the community, the online trainings, and the ongoing support that is always present and available from Lisa Woodruff (its creator) and her people. I am already sooo impressed by her product and business model! I really look forward to becoming more experienced in dealing successfully with my paper and projects, and just all daily tasks, through the use of the Sunday Basket. I am 53, and my memory is not the best these days, but this system is working so well for me and helping me to keep track of things! And I am also glad that by looking for others’ experiences in dealing with paper clutter, I was able to find your RUclips channel! I have just subscribed, and I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos. 😊 ...Kim in Simi Valley, California
Christmas cards: I have a small “card box” that I keep with my Christmas decor. It contains the card hanger ($ tree find) and I put the cards in there at the end of the Christmas season & look at them the following year when we put up decorations. Then I throw them. It’s fun to see how families have changed & grown each year!
Thank you so much for mentioning the Bible recap study. My husband and I are doing it, and we have already learned so much! We are seeing His great love and purpose for us in the way this study is written. We are so grateful that God is allowing you and your sister to minister! I look forward to hearing the good word you post each week! Thank you for allowing Him to work through you!!!
When you guys sit so centered on that table in the background, it reminds me of those TV shows with the “twin” scenes where they do a split screen. lol...
Diana, thank you so much for your beautiful prayer. Thanks for praying for prodigal children to come home. That was exactly what I was praying for before you said the words. You are a special person.
I am a scrapbooker and for years I have kept the photo Christmas cards and they get scrapbooked in a special holiday album, that is the one album that is always current. I love getting them out and seeing the evolution of our friends and family.
I love to hear these messages of taking action in our lives, controlling the things we can control and letting God guide the rest. Beautiful message and beautiful prayer
I don't know if you will see this, but your idea of one plate, bowl, etc. Per person has changed my kitchen life! I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. Thank you for doing these videos.
I trained myself YEARS AGO to block receiving catalogs in the mail, and I declined to subscribe to any magazines. Not only does it keep paper clutter way down, I truly avoid that doom-like sense of FOMO and realized long since that life is so much more peaceful without that unnecessary trigger. There is plenty enough stuff (inventory!) to navigate without having it artificially inflated by the pressure of having too much pitched stuff cross my attention. it is great to see you two today in 2021. Yay!
Love your Sunday episodes! Life is much easier with an uncluttered home (and mind). You and this channel have been life changing. I’ve been binge watching since finding the channel. I’m more relaxed, happier, and less stressed at home and work. And the biggest change is from both of you inspiring me to get back to daily bible reading and focus on God. Thank you both so much! 💗
I've tried to connect with God many ways like trying to listen to podcast, read Bible apps, do bible study with friend, read the Bible with hubby or alone nothing has worked! The only thing that actually works is you guys! I look forward to ur videos always. I learn, relate to, change to a positive mindset become greatful, get reminded of what's really important, feel peace and get joy because I feel closer to God. Thank you!! 💖
Also, I love that you do your Sunday Faith videos. I feel like it's a low key way for me to share faith with my coworkers. I can point them to your content for the minimalist and organization tips and hope they stumble across your faith content too.
Jjs: You Bible-Thumpers, who claim to just “share faith”, are dishonest and manipulative: What an inappropriate thing to do to co-workers! That is a form of harassment, and so a fire-able offense. (A certain percentage of you are Bipolar, with grandiose ideas of spreading group-think). You’re ALL a bunch of sheep who can’t think for yourselves.
My grandma made me placemats out of old Christmas cards. She got a large piece of colored construction paper, cut the card pictures into circles, and attached a bunch to the paper. Then she had them laminated. They are super simple. I set them out for a home Christmas tour last year where over 300 people came through my home and those mats were the top thing to get complimented! I spent a ton of money and time putting up decor... and those simple mats are what most people really loved!
Thank you for the tips! We had a gift box that works perfectly for our "deal with/ can wait" paper. The box is for our "can wait" and the lid for our "deal with".
I am on my second time through the @TheBibleRecap . In my 40 years walking with the Lord- this has been the best resource I’ve used! I have invited many to join me this year. Get ready to know your Creator in a bigger way! Amen to the prodigal prayer, Diana! I trust God in this! ❤️🙏🏼 He is good!!
So since I am just starting my journey is detailed organization, decluttering, and pretty much actually adulting in adulthood (lol) I am thinking I have started my “Sunday Basket” in my filing container so once I need to file something I can file that “paid bill” or other in the “2021 Done ✅ “ Folder! This also really contains everything nicely for me since I don’t have a lot of paid bills etc that I “HAVE” to keep and a lot of other paper to keep in this season of life. I feel as though if this works for me I can continue with a new file container or add a “Sunday Basket” container to area where this container is now. I just have a plastic filing container from WalMart that I got after I saw one of Dawn’s first, if not the first, paper decluttering videos. 😊 Happy DeCluttering, Organizing, Adulting, and more to all! Thank you Dawn and Diana! Fan for life!!!
A lady in the Take Your House Back fb group suggested to take a picture of the cards that have photos and set them as their contact photo for the year. I loved that idea so much!
It's so nice that you admitted that paper piles are actually scary even though we are adults! I sure love this solution, especially separating out the "time will tell" stuff!
This idea is a minimalist idea I got from my sister. Some Christmas and bday cards are so special you want to keep them and enjoy them so she has a smallish cute oval or rectangle basket about 7 to 9 inches wide and a few inches tall to keep those special cards. She then keeps them in sight (which is optional) but has them when she wants to see them again. I love this idea bc I love keeping up with people I am close to but can't keep in regular touch with. When my mother passed away I still had a few special remembrances of her. Just an idea for those of us who aren't quite wanting to get rid of it all!
Thank you so much for this! The verse that Diana read brought me to tears. My husband and I have been house hunting for more than a year and just this morning we saw and put an offer on what could be our dream house. Gods timing is so perfect and I've had to keep reminding myself over and over that His timing is not my timing Hoping that this is a sign that our offer will be accepted.
I started watching this channel with decluttering, but Sunday’s when y’all just talked about faith were my main video for a while. ❤️ Just wanted to let y’all know that I’m grateful for both aspects.
I love to keep the family pictures that come at Christmas to pray for those pictured. I keep some in my Bible and others in an envelope to see those faces and remember the needs. This video and the ideas for taking care of that clutter on the kitchen counter are outstanding. Thank you so much.
It's nice to save Christmas cards (if you have a place for them/with Christmas décor maybe). They are wonderful to have when you are older in life, you're circle of friends and loved ones starts to get smaller as your peers pass away. Having those cards, bringing back the happy memories can help lift a persons spirits.
As I am watching this on Jan 6 2020, with the riots in DC, your text Ps 138 is so appropriate, especially verse 7. Praying for peace! I really appreciate how you present minimalism in the context of Christianity. Thank you to both of you for your ministry.
Tackled our papers again this week. Down to one beautiful folder and so happy! I just need to find the perfect place for the shredder to deal with stuff as it comes in. We've managed to go paperless on most of our bills now so have drastically reduced what comes in. I also got permission from my husband to open his mail now because I have formed the habit of dealing with it straight away, that might not suit some but it saves him a job, and if it's something needs actioning it doesn't get forgotten.
Thank you for showing me Psalm 138:8 - so timely for my life right now. The Spirit is speaking to me through this verse of truth. Thank you also for clarifying the Sunday Basket; my mind is already trying to figure out what version of this will be useful for me.
I felt guilty throwing away the picture christmas cards that people sent me. I thought about the effort and money that people spent on them, but then I thought about the fact that it was that person's choice to make the photo card and send it to me. I am not required to keep it. It was given to me and I can do whatever I please with it now. If I don't want it then it is okay for me to throw it away! It's my home and I am the one that manages it so I get to decide what stays and what goes.
This is where I like Marie Kondo’s take on things like that. It served its purpose when you received it, were blessed by it in that moment and enjoyed it for what it was. It’s now fulfilled its function and you no longer need to keep it. This has really helped me to get rid of stuff other people have given me. They enjoyed giving it. I enjoyed receiving it at the time. But I’m under no obligation to keep it if it no longer serves a function for me.
Yes! I had a hard time sending picture cards this year because I didn’t want people to feel they had to keep it or feel bad for eventually throwing it away 🙈 but I did knowing that the people who received it would enjoy it in the moment and then could be free to throw it away or save it because it was theirs now.
When I have trouble throwing something away, (all the time,) I take a picture of it and store on the computer or online email to myself, or Shutterfly... works great for my son's childhood artwork and writing.
I love seeing both of you on here. With you both being twins it’s cool seeing both of your personalities and just the way you respond with each other! It’s just great! I love seeing all three of you!
We have just made our christmas cards into tags for next year. The kids help and we cut the cute pictures or fronts off the small cards and put one hole punch at the top. It means when we use them next year we are reminded of them and they haven't gone to waste. The backs are recycled as I know from experience, I will never look at them again!! x
Diana a basket is not on your candle keeping the light out - your light Still shines -your message today what I need to hear keep hearing Thank you . Please be Encouraged and not discouraged 🌷🌷
Last night I set up my " No action needed" box. I cleaned out a drawer in one of my pantry armoires and the box is close by for easy access but out of sight - paper is my achilles heel but I feel I have control over it instead of it controlling me - no more Paper Piles ! Thank you for all your encouragement
Diana you have brought me home. Love listening to you speak the word. Dawn thank you for inspiring her to join you and for helping me downsize my possessions.
You ladies are awesome!!! Don't let anyone tell you different! You both have given me so much peace in so many ways!! Thank you so much! I'm so glad these videos have crossed my path. You guys showed up just when I needed you ladies. Hugs
I seriously love you both! I love the encouragements and Sundays are my favorite! My husband is a pastor and I’m leading worship today. Praying a blessing on your day!
My friend gave me a great idea for Christmas cards. Cut the cards up and use them for package tags the next year. Then you are recycling and you get a second use out if them. I absolutely love this. I immediately cut mine up into tags and put it in Christmas wrapping paper.
This was exactly the encouragement I needed today. I practice minimalism because it helps our home stay organized with our children and because it gives me peace of mind knowing I only physically keep what I am able to take care of to relieve myself of being overwhelmed. This is the encouragement I needed with organizing my home and ending it with an amazing bible verse that I too needed to hear. Thank you both so much and many blessings to both of you. -Megan Schott
So glad to have found your channel! I found it right before Christmas and I am happy (and embarrassed)to say we have gotten rid of 7 yard bags (55 gal) full of stuff that was taking over our house and my anxiety is doing so much better and my house is staying clean! Thank you so much! I am never going back! God bless you both and your families!
I have been doing the Bible Recap for quite few months now and LOVE it! I have been hit or miss consistency so a goal this year is to finish. When you talked about Atomic Habits last week (I listened to the podcast you recommended) and talked about saying to yourself "I am a tidy person," I have been saying to myself "I am a Bible reader". How funny to hear the next time I listened to the Bible Recap podcast that she says, "Hello Bible readers" at the beginning. I have heard her say that so many times but this time it really hit me. Yes, I AM a Bible reader!
I think it’s great that your sister is a pastor. I 100% believe in women speaking and preaching and pastoring etc. glad to see y’all are waking In the Lord. Also I’m loving the course you made. For the 79$ deal and love it. I’ve been finishing off the last parts of my decluttering

It’s been a year since you asked this question. 🌺 Has Diana started her own podcast? 🌸 I hope that someone answers my question!
Yes she has
I’ve designated a shelf in a kitchen cabinet as my “command center” with many of the Sunday basket ideas :)
Great idea! Thanks 🙏🏼
That’s a good idea!
I agree Dawn. I enjoyed Diana's Bible study so much. I just love listening to her. And she gives me a better understanding. Can't wait for her to make that decision. I hope you all have a fantastic New Year.
😊
Yes. Totally agree.
Sane. 🌞
Art teachers are very grateful for magazine donations! ❤️👩🏻🎨
How lovely
Exactly
Good Morning! Here’s to a better year for everyone!
'He knows right where you are' and 'you are not off-course' - Thank you so so much Diana, you have no idea how much I needed to hear this right now.
God was definitely not caught off guard by 2020 like we were. Thanks you for your words, Diana. You 2 are a blessing.
I’ve really been having a rough time lately finding my purpose in life. Thank you for this 🙏🏻
Feeling so lost and alone, and feeling that my dreams are out of reach. I needed to hear this today!!!
The loving connection you two have! So heart warming. I know that if my sister had not gotten her angel wings so soon, we would be as deeply connected as you are. Well, actually we are. But in a different way.
A year later, you have no idea how much I needed your message today! Thank you for sharing your experiences and most especially God's word!!!
You both have such beautiful children.....the clip with Adeline feeding the baby was beautiful, she was beaming....so heartwarming....I look forward to Sunday’s with you.....God bless both of you....
Love Sunday with your sister, such a blessing! Thanks 😊
We do the same thing. My kids love looking at the cards from the previous year and then we don't feel bad tossing them out after!
I love the dynamic between you two sisters! So sweet!
I keep my Christmas photo cards on a ring and store them with my holiday decor then pull them out each year to look at.
Thank you for sharing your faith!
Thank you for the beautiful prayer about letting go of bitterness and calling those who are far from you!
I love that you both have gray sweaters on. You two are SO fun! I love tuning in weekly to watch you both! Thanks for sharing with us!
Love you both . I have been watching you for 6 months and have been gradually decreasing my stuff and I have lots and lots of stuff.
The Sunday program has really touched my life through 2020. May God bless y’all daily!!
I had never heard of a Sunday basket...glad I wasn't the only one.
It's so nice that you admitted that paper piles are actually scary even though we are adults! I sure love this solution, especially separating out the "time will tell" stuff!
Ohh I knew that Diana was a pastor. She’s so blessed. I look foward to Sundays just for church AND Diana’s prayer. Edited to change a spelling err
I came here for decluttering tips, and came away with so much more. Thank you. And thank you for your prayer at the end. Unexpected, and beautiful.
I enjoy the Bible study & prayer. It has been a source of hope and encouragement.
I always look forward to Sunday's with Diana. You two touch me in so many ways, and inspire me! Please keep doing these videos! ❤❤❤😍😍😍🙏🙏🙏
I love when you and your sister are together.
Oh my goodness I thought I was seeing things, turns out twins!!
Thank you for introducing the Sunday basket to me.
@@StillWatersASMR This is absolutely a wonderful concept!! Thank you :D I wish you a blessed day!
Thank you for this exact message. Both paper clutter and faith message of God knowing what we need were both exactly what I needed to hear today. ♥️
I love seeing both of you on here. With you both being twins it’s cool seeing both of your personalities and just the way you respond with each other! It’s just great! I love seeing all three of you!
I truly love you Dawn and as so grateful that Diana stayed on as a weekly inspiration
Wow. Simple advent started dianna and helping evangelizing. Love it. You both are so good together. Perfect compliment.
I love how your sister shared Scripture verses on this video. Very encouraging!
I love that you and Diana work together on Sundays (and some other times). Thanks for explaining the Sunday basket. I didn't know. (Jane from SC)❤️🙏
Diana your prayer touched my heart today. I have a daughter who needs to “come home”. Thank you.
Me too, tears thank you!
We have just made our christmas cards into tags for next year. The kids help and we cut the cute pictures or fronts off the small cards and put one hole punch at the top. It means when we use them next year we are reminded of them and they haven't gone to waste. The backs are recycled as I know from experience, I will never look at them again!! x
That’s smart to do now. Having them ready to use next year will be good.
Dawn, you are so down to earth and real ♥ Thanks for being so authentic :D
Diana a basket is not on your candle keeping the light out - your light Still shines -your message today what I need to hear keep hearing Thank you . Please be Encouraged and not discouraged 🌷🌷
Love, Love, LOVE you two. The way you incorporate Sunday devotions are Awesome! God Bless!!
Last night I set up my
" No action needed" box. I cleaned out a drawer in one of my pantry armoires and the box is close by for easy access but out of sight - paper is my achilles heel but I feel I have control over it instead of it controlling me - no more Paper Piles ! Thank you for all your encouragement
I did the same thing Diana. I want to get the Bible reading to listen to at bedtime and when cleaning.
Thanks for sharing about Bible Recap. It's energized my chronological Bible reading.
I think it’s great that your sister is a pastor. I 100% believe in women speaking and preaching and pastoring etc. glad to see y’all are waking
In the Lord.
Also I’m loving the course you made. For the 79$ deal and love it. I’ve been finishing off the last parts of my decluttering
